I COMPLETELY agree with you! People would be surprised to know that when I was in Business School (a top 20 in the Nation), many of us did coke . . . . frequently before social events . . . . even recruiting events, when we were meeting with potential employers. Like you said . . . . none of us went on to be addicts, and almost everyone is successful, settled and leaders in business and society. BUT, at 20-25 years of age, we acted much the way Hannah was appearing last Friday night. And going to a steller U (like UVA), it was sometimes fun to "hang" with locals . . . be a bit "rogue", a bit on the edge from our norm.

IMO, this is what Hannah was doing (her senses and judgement altered by alcohol), thought it was harmless to have a drink with this guy. Whether he drugged her drink, is a matter of question. But it seems she willing got in his car. Things seem to have taken a turn for the worst after that. :(

I've got some perspective to share for those of you who have questions/concerns about drug use and the Greek scene. In the late 1990s, I was in one of the "best" sororities at a top public university, similar in many ways to UVA. I personally only drank and used marijuana, but there were many, many girls in my sorority and our "brother" frats that did coke, speedballs, ecstasy, etc. My only point in sharing this is that is an extremely prevalent, common thing for many in the Greek community, especially those who have the money. These aren't hardcore addicts that end up in rehab, for the most part. These are college kids who are casual users, most pick it up and put it down with ease.

If I wanted to use hard drugs, I had access to them. Period. And I am not the least bit "street" and certainly wasn't savvy at age 19. I'm not saying that's what this young lady did that night, she could have just been intoxicated (which I don't blame her, I had a BLAST at that age). But the possibility that she combined it with another drug (like a stimulant) cannot be ignored. Frankly, her frenetic running suggests she *may* have had a stimulant in her system.

This could have been me or any of my friends on any given party night. I just got lucky.

The bar would have been closing by 2am right? So they would have to leave?

Also, I hope all of these contradictions in descriptions does not come back to haunt police. They are not even remotely close to what Dg looks like, even on the video.

can someone die from a roofie?

This is all speculation, MOO, JMO, theory and all that, but . . .

Roofie I never got from this case. Ever. Roofies tend to slow you down and knock you out. Like, cannot run miles to and get lost.

What I did get, only because I have seen and experienced this first hand, was ecstasy. Drinking with ecstasy can make one do all kinds of crazy things (sprint miles away), and the body can (and has) shut down due to dehydration and has caused seizures in some people.

I am not advocating that this is what happened to Hannah, not in the least. Just bringing some first hand experience to the table and my moo-moo to the thread.

Hope she is found alive and well. It's been too long.

Just a pure speculation but I be the will say she was under the influence when they met and something happened (I.e. She passed out and then died from something she took before he met her) and he panicked. I don't believe this at all but he will minimize his involvement...

It might be the truth. If it's not, it sure would be his logical defense. If they can't find any evidence of foul play during the searches, they need to find Hannah. Let's hope that happens today!

I doubt he was planning to kill her . . . . IMO, I believe he was just hoping to hook-up with her and thought getting them more alcohol would help. Again, IMO, I believe something went wrong in his car and/or apartment and she died.

This is what I'm leaning towards too. However, I will change my mind in a hot second if they find any evidence that implies an assault/struggle occured.

I really thought that Dreads name would surface out there in cyberspace by now. Where would it be? JMO

yes. maybe he told hannah tho that he would take her home, or maybe they would stop by a fun party w his friends first. he semeed super friendly and people around seemed to know him, so she believed him. soon she became aware that he was probably a dealer and somewhat dangerous, and she flipped out. he realized that she couldn't be trusted and felt he had to kill her.

This could be, but if that is the case I would think the police would have found some evidence of that at his house and arrested him (unless he got rid of everything over the week just in case). My theory is that she thought he was just being kind and friendly; he thought she was down for a hookup. She was surprised by his intention, he pressed the issue and decided to sexually assault her. He either killed her unintentionally in the course of the assault, or he killed her afterwards to silence her, much like Jonathan Holt did to Whitney Heichel (October 16, 2012; Gresham, OR.).

no, people aren't saying she was roofied from the beginning, people say she was possibly roofied in the bar with the dreads guy.

Re the car photo - I was just perusing through various fb accounts (following my nose lol!) and came across that pic belonging to a dreaded guy. Being from the UK and therefore not having these types of cars around, I couldn't tell what make it was, was just interested in the colour really!

just so we are all on the same page, the man seen in surveillance video where WG stepped out from the shadows, the guy wearing white shirt and white pants is NOT the same guy people described seeing her with at Tempo. correct???

Stumbling and hyper makes me think vodka and Red Bull. That is ridiculously popular in Richmond right now.

the guy apparently seen on surveillance video downtown mall w/ HG where he is walking one direction and then after hannah walks by he moves to the other side of the mall and follows her, a man i'm assuming is a uva student has posted his name on facebook, he says that he is very known in the downtown mall area. he walks with a cane and he writes in a notebook a lot. he is a familiar face and staple of the ped mall.

but if i'm following correctly, that man is not the man she went to tempo with.

i'm pretty sure he would have gotten rid of everything pretty quickly... it's not like LE was extracting DNA off their couch or anything

It's kind of ridiculously popular everywhere. I lived in Miami a couple years ago and that's all anyone drank. I bartended here in Texas last year and I'd say 45% of the drinks I made were vodka red bull. I've drank a lot of them myself. I've never noticed anyone get "hyper" from them, though.

ETA: Also, if she was at a house party (Greek or not) earlier in the evening, she was probably drinking beer. Usually those kinds of parties have a keg. It's cheaper. And you don't have to mix drinks.
