Clinical and forensic psychologist Dawn Hughes, who is returning to the stand for the second time, is offering a rebuttal testimony to that given by Dr Shannon Curry yesterday.
Dr Hughes says she does not agree with Dr Curry's theory that she used "
improper methods" when assessing Amber Heard.
'People struggling with trauma and PTSD are very strong, courageous, resilient people'
Psychologist and expert witness Dr Dawn Hughes is disputing testimony given by Dr Shannon Curry yesterday.
Both women assessed Amber Heard ahead of this trial.
Dr Hughes determined the actress suffers from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), while Dr Curry says she has exaggerated symptoms of this and actually suffers from personality disorders.
Dr Hughes tells the court that Heard did not exaggerate on one test that she used to assess her for PTSD, as Dr Curry suggested.
Dr Curry also said that Dr Hughes misinterpreted her test results. Dr Hughes disputes this and says it was actually Dr Curry who misinterpreted them.
Dr Hughes also dismisses Dr Curry's testimony that victims of PTSD are "
effectively unable to function", as Heard's lawyer Elaine Bredehoft describes it.
Dr Hughes says this is a common "
myth and misconception" and adds: "
People who are struggling with trauma and PTSD are very strong, courageous, resilient people, even though they are struggling," she says.
