It sounds as if she may not have even made it to Metro, but going from Franconia-Springfield to the airport is a pretty short trip. When you get off at the (Reagan) National Airport stop, you follow the signs along the platform to the correct exit, go through the faregates and sliding glass doors and you're in the airport. My recollection is that there are two different exits depending on which airline you're flying.
Even if you haven't been to the stop before, I find it hard to believe that you could get lost going from the Metro platform into the airport. There are surveillance cameras all over the place (both at the Metro station and in the airport itself), so she really should be on camera if she ever passed through there.
