I'm back to what if...... Did LE ever admit/confirm that a report was received on May 28th? I know RF says he filed a report and LE says they are doing an internal investigation on what happened, but is that confirming that he did indeed file an actual report?

Fegan filed a missing persons report for Barham May 28. Portsmouth police confirm a detective wasn’t assigned to the case until Monday, June 8. That has the family concerned and frustrated.

Since they didn't assign someone to this case until June 8, It looks like they did get a missing person's report.

If they never recieved one, I'm sure they would have said so.

Hubby has some explaining to do. Were the clothes still in the laundromat the next morning? If so than why no panic. If not than why not say that she had finished the laundry so she couldn't have been taken from there?

He fell asleep until 1:30 in the morning, woke up, realized she was not home, went out searching for her, calling her name. Went to the laundry mat and found warm clothes still in the dryer.

He filed a missing person's report the next day.

It's possible that she came home for a while, logged on to Facebook (her last post was at 12:24 AM). and went back to the laundry mat to do some more laundry.

Katie was last seen at 10:30 P.M.

This is why I wish KE would do pressers more often. Reading between the lines, it's at least possible that when asked if there was a missing some person's case file on May 28th, LE replied with something like, we are looking into that or no comment. Then, when asked when a detective was assigned to the case, LE replied with June 8th. That, in essence, would be confirmation that a detective wasn't assigned until June 8th.

With that being said, LE looks like they dropped the ball on this one, so that may be all they are going to say on the ineptitude of their department on this case.

But, they could be playing along with all of this because they are waiting for a slip up. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen that happen

So many scenarios! I'm just saying that until LE says, yes, RF filed a missing persons report on May 28th, we need to keep our minds open and look at all angles.

Another note, did RF call on the 28th and say, hey, my fiancé didn't come home last night, what should I do? Doing something like that and actually filing a missing person's report are two different things.

I can't get out of my head the fact that he didn't contact any of her family members to see if they had seen her. No matter my relationship with my in laws, if my husband went missing, I dang sure would be calling to see if they had heard from him! What the heck did RF do from May 28 until June 8???

Sorry, that should be LE up there, not KE. Gah! I'm on tapatalk right now

I still think it's hinky that she was doing laundry that late at night, knowing it wasn't the greatest of neighborhoods. To me it sounds like a story of convenience for who might be telling it.
Like I said up thread, what better way to cover your tracks & get your clothes cleaned than to say the person who is missing & not able to give their side of the story, was out & about doing laundry while you slept??

So why did he say that he didn't want to alert her family with clothes still in dryer at 1am? Not home at 6 am.

All I know is that my hinky meter peaked when I learned the way the fiancé handled this initially. If I woke up at 1:30 & my hubby wasn't in bed & I went looking for him, found our clothes in the dryer, but no hubby, I would have been looking high & low. I would probably give it an hour with no finding him & no contact and I would have been calling 911. And we live in a good neighborhood! If still nothing by 6:00 or 7:00 am, I would have been calling all of her friends & family.

From what I understand, the fiancé is the last one to see her at 10:30 pm. Did the kids also see her at that time?

She was a stay at home mom and the kids aren't toddlers that you have to watch like a hawk. I can think of no reason to be doing laundry at that time of night with the way that neighborhood & apartment complex are described.

Something seems hinky here. I hope, for the kids' sake, dad is on the up and up, but stranger things have happened.

Well, did a new search and this story came out today. A police spokesman DOES CONFIRM there was a report filed and that it took that long for a detective to be assigned. http://hamptonroads.com/2015/06/police-investigate-11day-delay-search-portsmouth-woman

The actions of the fiancé at the beginning still seem hinky to the max. I've also noted that all of the news stories have the dad being interviewed (and the one with the mom). I don't think the fiancé has said anything since the beginning of the actual investigation. Even the moms bf was interviewed in one story.

When was the family alerted? That's the kicker. Vanish with clothes in dryer at 1am in apt complex and when was her family notified again?

He has....... according to comments left by local people.

IIRC, he told one news station that after the body was found, LE wanted him to come take a polygraph test.

Iirc it was 7-9 days after, I think when he alerted the family they contacted LE to get a status & that is when it was realized no investigators had been assigned to the case.

So has it ever been confirmed that he took a polygraph & if he did, I wonder if it was passed/failed?

He let them know 9 days later. and it was a week and a half before police even started working on this case even though they got a missing person's report on May 28.

According to the above link (post above - I'm on TT and can't copy text & links). I guess RF didn't tell the family for 9 days - but apparently he did report to police the next day

""I didn't find out about it until the following Saturday – 9 days after it happened. Something is not right. It's totally out of character for her. She is the mother of two small children who she dotes on. Something wrong has happened here. Whoever has her I wish they would at least let her go. She has children that depend on her. I'm feeling helpless and frustrated," he said."

He knew police wasn't going to start scouring like her friends and family would have. So the mpr on the next day still doesn't cut it for me.

How would have he known when the police were going to start working on this case?

I'd suspect him even more if he did not file a report.
