Oh my. Her car was found by a trail? Didn't someone say that she might have gone running somewhere in the morning she went missing? I would look it up, but I'm on mobile and it's a pain in the neck. It sounds like she may have had an accident while running, if that information is correct. Would a runner normally take their cell phone with them on the trail? Either way I hope they find her soon, and safe.

I wonder if she had any known medical issues, maybe had a heart attack while training, or if she might have been suffering from depression. I hope she has not been met with foul play on the trail. Still so many unsolved cases out of Virginia...

With all the resources being devoted to Nicole's case, Local, State and Federal, and with her husband being LE, I anticipate they are combing every inch of the area where her vehicle was located as we speak. Virginia also has some of the best K9 resources, as I remember, including the Virginia Dept. of Corrections K9 Teams used to track cellphones. VSP is experienced in handling MP cases, high profile cases.

Despite the current lack of msm coverage, the family has done well with establishing and distributing info on SM.

Eta: They are also usually good (VSP) about communicating with the public. I expect we will hear from them soon when they feel the time is right.

Per fb, they are asking people to stay away from the search effort in order that any potential trace not be compromised. This is crucial, so glad they are doing this. Last thing they need is people interfering with any dogs' scents, etc. Seems they have enough feet on the ground. (Sometimes this can be a catch 22; you want as many people searching, like when a toddler goes missing and the harsh elements are a factor, time is always of essence, but it can also possibly interfere with the scents, tracking, etc.).

It seems people on fb have been submitting this case to various media outlets, not sure about NG specifically.

I have a question that I've been wanting to ask for a while.

Does LE ever give the media an order NOT to cover a case? I've wondered about this before as related to our serial sniper here in Colorado. And I wonder about this now, here, if maybe LE has asked the media to refrain until they can complete this phase of their investigation (specified search)?

I've wondered this, too. I've always assumed that they are less likely to endorse a media blast when they have a pretty good hunch that the person is intentionally "missing" as opposed to having been met with foul play. Not saying that this the case here. Just thinking out loud.

I am praying/hoping that she is found alive with only treatable injuries soon and has not met with any type of foul play.

What comes to mind is the possibility of a Cerebral aneurysm. They have afflicted many runners and onset can be rapid, without warning and unfortunately, fatal.

Still searching for Nicole.
Her vehicle was discovered yesterday, Sat April 16th, in Shenandoah County.
Reported missing on April 15.
Car found abandoned shortly before 8pm on Saturday in a parking lot in the Shenandoah National Park.
State Police and US Park Police spent the night searching by ground and air.
