When my girls were younger and after their dad was killed we went to Idaho to visit my grand parents. We took a day trip to Canada and let me tell you we almost did not make it over the border into Canada! They stopped us and had us go to a room without my grandparents and they asked why we were going etc. I explained and they asked about the dad and I told them he was deceased. So they pulled the youngest daughter tot he side and questioned her about her dad, of course she told them the same thing and another ask my oldest if she was excited and some other questions. They then told us the girls did not look/act like they were being forced, nor did they look/act unhappy, so they let us go on into Canada. This was several years ago and had their dad been alive I doubt we could have gotten into that country. We did not plan to go to Canada and I would have never thought to bring his death certificate nor a letter had he still been alive.
