I love that Cheryl loved chocolate.

Me too. She seemed like an absolutely brilliant, fun & loving person. The loss is so immense not only for her loved ones, but the world.

The part about the chocolate is especially endearing. Those little personal things. My mom loved dark chocolate, and we put that in her memorial when she passed 2 years ago, along with strong peppermint & other things that she enjoyed most.

Continued sincere condolences and prayers to Cheryl's family and friends.

Im still a little fuzzy on the crime scene, how far was Cheryl's car from the culvert ?

Somewhere there is a map. I've heard the distance referred to as less than 2 miles, also a mile and a half. Which is closer I do not know.

Re: Cheryl's cell phone

Is it possible to detect the "ping" last emitted from Cheryl's cell phone, (prior to being "powered down") came from a parking spot on 58th Ave W, other than where her car was discovered?

Mrs. DeBoer did not walk a mile and a half to the culvert, climb into it to commit suicide or die of natural causes.

She was murdered and her body was left there. Of this I am 100% certain.

As an aside but something that may be important one day to someone:

My very brilliant, very beautiful, step-daughter - an emergency room physician and infectious disease specialist - sat in her unlocked car at 3pm after a hair appointment, oblivious to everything around her as she fiddled with her dang phone. Some predator came from nowhere and got into the passenger seat of her car. He tried to grab her but she managed to escape his grip, get out of the car and scream loud enough to draw attention and he fled. It could have been a horror story. I wanted to shake her for being so foolish and risking her life sitting in an unlocked car, fooling around with a stupid phone and being unaware of her surroundings!

Mrs. DeBoer was also brilliant and beautiful, may have been distracted with that dang phone and unbeknownst to her, was being watched by a predator or predators. They look for vulnerable victims and women, alone and staring at a phone screen, texting with both thumbs is as vulnerable as a predator needs for a successful attack.

Please - don't make yourselves easy pickings. You never know who is watching your every move. Get in the car and drive away, don't sit there with a bullseye on you.

Tea Time,
How frightening for you, for her, for everyone involved. Thank you so much for sharing.

An insider is someone that the Moderators have taken lengthy steps to ensure that they are, in fact, very close to the case. For instance, Stryker57 on here has been verified to be Cheryl DeBoer's son.

Welcome!

Dear gladyskravitsinvest,

Should I be flattered your username is so close to mine?

I've never posted I noticed your name after I created mine. I would have changed it but oh well. I watched Bewitch all the time. :) My neighbors call me Mrs Kravits. I really would like to be a detective.

Her car was found in the 23,400 block of 58th W. Police said she disappeared from the area of her car. They asked citizens to report anything that occurred in the area in front of library.

58th would have been the last point en-route to the transit center that she could have turned around. If that was what she was doing this would indicate progress to returning home. IMO

Lava is very correct. This is also what I believe to be true. Also my mom most definitely would not be texting and driving. She would pull over to send any texts. She would crash for sure if she tried.

So if I understand this correctly CD must have realized while driving that she didn't have her badge so she turned right at 58th W in order to have a place to text before turning around. She stopped in the 23400 block of 58th W but she didn't intend to stay there or meet anyone she knew. Couldn't have happened? Although it was her intent to drive home she never left the location on 58th W.

Does that seem accurate? And just out of curiosity what time did the park and ride lot fill up? I'm wondering if she drove two blocks north because she couldn't find closer parking on 58th W.

Agreed. I'm still catching up, but in my situation I was on the phone. I think it was one reason the perp targeted me.

So glad you escaped your attacker. Based on all the posts about distracted texting - it seems this person may have been hanging around waiting for an early commute target. Are there any cameras whatsoever on that street? I still don't get why the person didn't take off but maybe there was a moment of recognition between the two (a friends kid, grandchild, spouse, etc) and that sparked panic. I am thinking a drug addict or someone who owed a debt as this was after Super Bowl I believe. The other alternative is a senseless random act for no reason at all and that would be the most difficult for me to accept.
