WA - Unidentified Male: "Lyle Stevik", Grays Harbor, 17 Sept 2001 - #5

6. To establish whether someone is "pacing up and down" the highway suggests that Lyle was being watched for a considerable amount of time. He wasn't just pacing, but rather pacing "up and down". However, the motel is not on the main road according to Google Maps, so I wonder how BW knew this. Unless someone who was working at the grocery store told her (echoing point 3 about the store/motel being connected).

Balthazaro found photos taken by someone who passed through that area on a trip, some of which have pictures of the motel and the store. B may (or may not) have been mistaken about seeing him "pacing up and down" near the highway, because Balthazaro said that the motel is not there but behind the grocery store and trailer park.

And my own query about the grocery store - if he wasn't known to have been seen there, how did he get a drink?

It was 8, then 5 wasn't it? Room 8 was nearer to the trailer park and too "noisy" so he moved according to the case file posted in the other thread.

Same here, I agree. Or his name is Lyle Stevik I mean I found info of someone with that name so I am not sure if an alias is accurate. But this is the best suggestion so far.

This does look pretty good. The height is off but at least he's tall enough -- I think decedents are sometimes measured short, too. Brown eyes to hazel is close. He was apparently depressed when he left home early in 2001, so he could have become suicidal by fall. And the facial resemblance looks good.

Wow, the resemblance is DEFINITELY there imo, especially the facial shape and mouth.

Totally. It could be he lost weight too as part of his depression. The resemblance is very good. Even if this guy is suggested on another JD doesnt mean he shouldnt be suggested for LS. He is a really good match for LS he should be submitted. I do not see him on the rule out list.

Here's another - albeit small and blurry - photo of John Robert Scialabba. His Doe Network profile says he has "discoloration" on his shoulder, though. :thinking: I can definitely see the resemblance in the pic carbuff posted, less so in the photo immediately above. Scialabba is an Italian surname; I vacillate between Lyle being Native or Slavic/Eastern European depending on the photo. I can't see Lyle being from an Italian background (just my humble opinion).

I'm glad you suggested this match -- I was just searching the thread to make sure it hadn't already been posted after noticing a resemblance today while comparing Stevik to MPs on Charley Project.

Age and height match. He seems to have a mole on his chin like Lyle.
