I was kicking around an idea today...we have disseminated information about Anna through posters/flyers and now the bumper sticker. Could the same be done for Brody? I am living in eastern PA now, close to where Margaret was from, and possibly where Brody was from as well. I would gladly put out flyers in the area and/or put a Brody bumper sticker on my car. Maybe someone would recognize him.

Some great idea's Gina. I would like to see some done in the SF area's Doogie was able to find historical info tied to GB. Since we have never uncovered any proof tying GB to the east coast, I am tending to believe much of the east coast relative info from GB was all BS and part of GB's con game to manipulate GW. Nothing more than lying about some facts to demonstrate some familiarity with GW and get his claws dug into GW. Just mo and I could be wrong.

A close friend who is just now reading Searching for Anna for the first time wrote me yesterday: "After all these years my distaste for Brody comes back like thunder heard in a nightmare." I know there are things we could do to try to find out more about GB. A letter with a picture to Children's Hospital, a poster at the Denny's near their hotel. I just can't seem to make myself do it. I think that after all these years I, too, mentally put Brody in a kind of nightmare.

Didn't he have a professional picture taken in NY?

I just emailed the editor of the SF Chronicle and asked that they do an article on Anna and include pics of the 2 Georges and Anna to see if anyone recognizes any of them. I mentioned the book and included the link.

(Fingers crossed)

i was looking at that picture of him again the professional one and he looks a lot like my friends ex husbands best friend who is about 28 and lives here on the east coast

I thought there was a pic in NY. My mistake. Sorry.

No need to apologize. There is a lot of info here, some which I have to look up to remember. I'm sure there is stuff I have not seen and I have noticed you remember things I have forgotten itsreen. Thanks for sending the email to the SF Chronicle.

I haven't been on-line for awhile, so I am trying to catch up on new posts. I'm sorry if any of this is redundant.

Annasmom:

I know that this has been asked before, but I cannot recall the answer: Was Brody in to Tarot cards at all?

He wasn't "into" them, but he did mention them a couple of times, somewhat pejoratively, as a kind of "gypsy" thing.

I had a few ideas based on some of my/other recent posts. My sense is that Brody and his Margaret/Mary/Betsy had a long history of baby brokering. It seems that they frequently just disappeared ("died") and reemerged with different names and dates. Ironically even after Margaret Kukoda is to have died in 1967, her name in variations continues on some census records. Next, I did find some old sites in Fayette, PA? that showed a cousin Tony or George living with the others family. Unfortunately I didn't download those. In any case I do believe the families were from Hungary. With that in mind, I reread the PLAN and thought that it was a $ arrangement made in Jan. 1973 and that some of the letters were printed with Yiddish( a combination of Cyrillic and Hebrew) letters, particularly the initials. I do not obviously have the originals, so my read may be off but I believe the family whose last name is listed as "L". The first set of initials to the right seems to be ATZE (that's phonetic). Also in the recent writing sample it says with English "the people she knows,,,then Betsy. I also came across the author Jean Marie Laskas aka Laskeas who is a professor at the Univ. of Pittsburgh who wrote several books about adopting. One is Fifty Acres and a Family and another is Fifty Acres and a Poodle. I'm sure you probably already checked her out but her picture pre-cancer treatment look like a double for Anna. Her stories also include an attack by a rooster, farm animals and a poodle named Sparkey.

If she didn't have undoubtedly blue eyes, (Anna's are brown), I would be freaking out now. Especially reading her bio, and finding that one of her adopted daughters was named Anna. Her writing abilities, her farm life, her adoption history and even her looks are very intriguing.

Jeanne Marie Laskas appears to be too old - 49 years old. I can a possibility of a year or two either way from 40, but not nine years. The rooster story is intriguing though.
