Why is it that they made the Ramsey family out as being "The Perfect Family"?

Well, I would like to know what THIS is all about...do you know?

6 PATSY RAMSEY: He was -- and like I
7 say, I am kind of like just catching, you know,
8 wafts of these conversations. But that was my
9 first recollection. I picked up on something
10 that Fleet was not acting right. And they were
11 going to keep him from going on the private
12 plane back to Atlanta.
13 So anyway, I didn't want to think
14 too much about it, and then when we were in
15 Atlanta, I just sort of remember Priscilla
16 standing in my mother's living room, family
17 room, you know, just kind of like this and
18 saying, "well, I know what's going on" and she
19 said, "if you would give me a few minutes of
20 your time, I could let you in on some things."
21 And I turned to her and I said,
22 "Priscilla, how can you know so much?" And I
23 said, "I am the mother of this child. And I
24 know nothing."
25 TOM HANEY: What was she referring
0076
1 to?
2 PATSY RAMSEY: I don't have a clue.
3 I really, I mean, you know, so many times I wish
4 I would have taken her up on it to see what the
5 hell she was talking about. There was just her
6 -- you know, it was just this kind of, I know
7 what's going on here and you don't. And if you
8 give me a few minutes of your time, I could clue
9 you in.
10 TOM HANEY: But she didn't give you
11 a clue or--
12 PATSY RAMSEY: Didn't say, didn't
13 say. So that was like the second little thing.
14 So then, let's see. We were at --
15 we were at my parents, and we had different
16 friends who had come in from Colorado and my
17 friends in Atlanta were putting them up in homes
18 and what not, and my understanding is that Fleet
19 and Priscilla had been invited by my brother and
20 sister-in-law Jeff Ramsey to stay in their home.
21 So I was in bed, and somebody,
22 either my sister, or another friend who was
23 staying there or something, said that Jeff had
24 just called to my parents' home, and said that
25 Fleet was totally off the deep end, had like
0077
1 gotten my brother-in-law and my brother-in-law
2 is -- you think my husband is docile, my
3 brother-in-law is, you know, very docile. Non-
4 confrontational. So Fleet got hold of Jeff's
5 collar, you know, like this, in his face, you
6 know, being very confrontational.

From Ames: Okay...now tell me...if YOUR daughter had of been murdered by an intruder, and one of your friends said to you.." Well, I know whats going on. If you would give me a few minutes of your time, I could let you in on some things". Would you just brush that off? Patsy never gave her a few minutes of her time for Priscilla to explain what she meant by that. She didn't even ASK her what she was talking about. Doesn't sound like the actions of a mother of a murdered child (with the murderer still on the loose) to me. I would have been screaming at her..."WHAT DO YOU KNOW...TELL ME!! DO YOU KNOW WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER?!?!?!" But, no...Patsy doesn't have a "clue" what Priscilla is even talking about, and never bothered to ask her. What the h*ll?
nope, way too passive behavior,WAY, WAY too passive !!! FW AND PW were the ones upset and wanting justice for JB..not them !!!

Why is it that they made the Ramsey family out as being "The Perfect Family"?

Because the Ramsey's could afford to buy good press. They had money, standing and influence in the community. Since the local papers were the first ones to run with the story they of course painted them as the perfect local family and the outside press ran with that angle and it just snowballed from there. I think it is as simple as that.

As far as intervention,I hope the ones that had planned it didn't feel guilty that they hadn't acted sooner, because unless they'd known what they were dealing with..Patsy's mood swings, possible prescription drug use, personality disorders,etc...I don't think there's much they could have done. And probably not even if they did know.I think Patsy would have just turned on them and never spoken to them again. And since pageants aren't illegal, drugs were probably scripts, etc.,there likely wasn't anything SS could have done, either.

And we have a BINGO!

Well, gosh. :blushing: That's high praise coming from you RiverRat. I know how invested you are in this case.

Funny.......even John states that no such confrontation took place as described by Patsy. If Priscilla knew more than Patsy knew - it was only because Pris was not avoiding the law enforcement officers in charge of the investigation like Patsy was!

Right...if Patsy had of cooperated...then she would have been in the LOOP too, and would have known just as much or more than Priscilla.

Shanny you have so underestimated the problem of wetting and soiling. It was DAY and Night and disruptive to those who knew her. Those who did read it as a signal of something major wrong. What also was wrong is most especially Patsy would try to present them as a perfect family way into overkill. Also not every child wets the bed that alone to the extent that the sexual abuse officers were called in when they found the amount of soiled underwear in JB's drawer still soiled like she was hiding the. Read the reports by Holly Smith. Shanny you really need to at least consider that the evidence that something was so wrong in that home. Dont discount it because much of it would rock your world had you been the investigator trying to unravel all this

I am not discounting anything, my whole post was about " what was wrong with the Ramsey's?" outside they seem perfect but inside their home there WAS something wrong. I am trying to look into the other side of the Ramsey's instead of the "perfect" side.
Also I understand what you mean about the bed wetting situation I found an interview that says that John Ramsey was a lie when he said he did not know JonBenet wet the bed. The way Patsy made it seem was JonBenet had just started wetting the bed at the age of 5/6 but this situation when on from the time Jonbenet was 2 1/2 up until the day she died.

LINDA WILCOX: One, I keep hearing a lot of little things, misconceptions, that I wanted to clear up. The other, I personally have a very hard time with the Ramseys going on national television, blatantly lying and not having anyone speak up to contradict what they are saying.

PETER BOYLES: An example?

LINDA WILCOX: An example, when John Ramsey says to the camera, I didn't know she wet the bed, or not very much. I happen to know myself, he walked upstairs, she had wet her bed, I came in on a Monday morning and he said, "Could you change her bed? She's wet it again." The thing that strikes me as odd, I knew her between 2 1/2 and 4. During that time, she did wet the bed but it wasn't chronic. It was every now and then. Early on, I mean 2 1/2 year olds always do, I mean it seems like they always have accidents. But, it got progressively worse. I would think that a 6 year old would wet the bed less than a 4 year old or a 2 year old. It actually got worse, it was moderate, she didn't have rubber sheets at that point, a pull-up would hold it. But her and Burke both wet the bed. Burke was 7 years old and he also wet the bed. I didn't think it was odd at the time, because it sometimes runs in families and it's more common in boys. And, their parents were lazy.

PETER BOYLES: Is it true you have knowledge of her bedwetting, prior to her death?

LINDA WILCOX: Prior to her death? Well, she did it for the 2 1/2 years I was there.

I think Patsy was the one who held her family up as the perfect family and had done it since she and John got married. People probably thought of them as the perfect family because Patsy only talked about the good things, nothing was ever bad. Just read one of those Christmas newsletters she sent out every Christmas and you'll see what I mean. After reading one of those one could undoubtedly come away thinking was the perfect family...... All orchestrated by Patsy, the Mother, the Centerpiece and Support upon who this perfect family relied on totally. That's why Jonbenet's bedwetting was a dirty little secret. She had to be the perfect child because she was Patsys child.

DeeDee249,
mmm, and just how do you think Patsy was going to allocate the presents or even gift-tag them if she did not know which package held what gift?

It was never mentioned anywhere that the gifts were untagged, only that they were partially (un)wrapped. So it shouldn't be concluded that PT had no way to tell whose was who before they were opened. I see it that PR knew she wasn't going to see Jenny for Christmas, so intended to mail them when she got back from vacation. While most people mail gifts before Christmas, it isn't unusual for people to send them after- I know plenty who do. And for someone known to be as disorganized as PR was, it isn't a bit surprising. I base my thoughts on the location of the size 12s on the fact that Jenny's gift(s) were tagged with her name, but of course, not what was in them, so PR had to open Jenny's gifts. I do the same thing when wrapping more than one box for the same person. I don't always recall what gift is in what box, unless there is something unusual about the shape of size. I'd know what box held earrings versus a sweater. But I might not know what box held a sweater versus a shirt. The panty package was small enough to be placed in a bigger box with other things. And if I placed a pair of earrings in a bigger box with something else and wanted the earrings again, I'd have to unwrap boxes till I found the earrings.

absolutely,it sounds that way;I don't think Patsy was a normal mother with a normal view of parenthood;she didn't see JB as a separate individual she was given charge over, she saw her as someone whom she wanted to train and was expected to be just like her.And of course, you are going to get resistance from children when you hold that point of view, sometimes to the point of complete rebellion.

Well, gosh. :blushing: That's high praise coming from you RiverRat. I know how invested you are in this case.

How sweet of you.....I've been waiting for the just right moment to let you know how much I soooo enjoy your tag line, so Thanks! Stewie for President!!!

One of my favorite scenes!!!

Lois: Listen, Brian's very depressed. Can you take him with you to the laser rock show tonight?

Peter: If there's one thing I'm good at doing, it's cheering people up......

Flash Back to a gravesight.........

Peter: Mr. And Mrs. Ramsey, Jon Benet's untimely death is a tragedy. I will not rest until I find her killer, or killers.

John and Patsy: Really. Don't bother. Nothing's going to bring our baby back.

Peter: No, I insist. I will make it my life's work to find out...

John and Patsy: We're fine! Just drop it! "

And of course this one........

Peter: Wait, wait, wait. Your Honor, there is something further . Look, I know I screwed up big time, but I only did it so I could get my kids back. I love 'em, and I think it's a bum rap that just because I'm retarded, that makes me an unfit parent. There are plenty of unfit parents out there who aren't retarded, but they got to keep their kids. Bing Crosby, Joan Crawford. I think the Ramseys' still got one left. I just want them back, Your Honor, and you're the only one who can help me. Whaddaya say?"

I remember both of those RiverRat. I love Family Guy. :D

Oh oh oh....remember when they went to live in Texas and they dressed Stewie up as a girl and entered him into a kids beauty pageant? Remember his line....First class ticket to a semen-covered death in the basement

I almost fell off the couch laughing. Would have loved it if Patsy had seen that.

I'm sure that she would have been proud of the Punchlines she turned her daughter into......:furious:

truth be told, she probably might have been more upset about the jokes that what actually happened...who knows?

That's the whole problem - the Truth won't be told.....
