I hadn't realized that the red vehicle JP used when abducting JC was indeed a red Ford Taurus.

Found that out after perusing the Redacted Evidence Log today.

In my opinion, no. I'm wondering why the heck they seemed so sure that JP's vehicle was a red/orange Dodge Charger!

If I remember correctly the vehicles that LE initially made public and requested help locating -- including the red/orange Charger-- were seen at or near the Casino which was probably the only location nearby with traffic at the hour of the murders.

As to the Taurus - I recall the vehicle had stolen license plates when JP was driving. It's not clear to me if the make/model was distinguishable on the LE dashcam video especially as docs reference this vehicle as a truck. Perhaps the stolen plates were from a truck.

they did not have enough info on a car that was a black Edge or some other kind of car yet they put that out there asking the public to help. How little info is that!

If you go back to the very beginning thread, you will see several WSers noted that LE should review their dash cams and observations in case the perp drove right past them on their way to the home. Yep, would have been good for them to do that. Because the perp HAD to drive one of two ways during that time frame of so few minutes. MOO

Edited to add: IMO, WS should be read by detectives, bc many valuable insights have been posted in many cases. JMO. Many miss-the-boat remarks, too, but good picking up of clues, too.

I would be highly suspicious, in this situation as I think many here would, of that SOLE vehicle going in the opposite direction under the circumstances. More should have been done at the time to pursue/try to find that vehicle. No, LE did not know what had transpired at that point, but even if they didn't pursue right then and there, why not investigate/try to find it afterwards.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said in a news conference Monday that one of the vehicles is likely a 2008 to 2014 red or orange Dodge Challenger, and the other is either a 2006 to 2010 black Ford Edge or 2004 to 2010 black Acura MDX. License plate information for the vehicles was not available.

The vehicle descriptions marked the first time authorities publicly identified a specific lead in the investigation of the deaths of James and Denise Closs and disappearance of Jayme Closs. The couple were shot to death in their rural Barron home a week ago.
