Missing Person Case

Somewhere in the last thread Jayme's case was referenced in Namus. It says

"Jayme was last seen in Barron, WI on 10/15/2018 at 12:58am."

But wasn't the 911 call at 12:56am? Deputies arrived at 1:00am per call log.

What do they mean? Last seen at 12:58am?

I think they are going by that timeline by hearing her voice on the enchanced 911 call. That was the last time they knew she was inside of the home alive.

Jmo tho

I have to believe that any issues Denise had with an individual concerning Jayme; the caretaker Aunt would have been made aware of. To not have is a significant oversight IMO.

Reference the vehicles of interest; have either of them been placed at the scene of the crime or were they just captured on video in or near the area during the time span of the crime, with LE wanting to talk to occupants if they saw something?

A number of days ago there was a post about a snowman visible inside the front door. I asked if there was a link to a picture of same and posted a link of a forensics individual in a white outfit that I thought might have been mistaken for a snowman. My link/post was deleted because it was an unverified blog per WS TOS (my bad). Would still like a link to picture of purported snowman if available. Thanks in advance.

Maybe she was seen in one of the vehicles fleeing the scene.

I think there's a prior involvement somewhere somehow, something we are missing.
On neighbor did relate that the family was very withdrawn, and "almost reclusive".

In contrast, the missing girl was involved in a lot of healthy recreational activities outside the home. Perhaps this contradiction was due a desire to keep where they lived hidden.

In pursuit of the possibility you mentioned, it may be worthwhile to see how deep the reclusive nature of their home life was.

For example, did the family get mail at the house, or pay for a P.O. box? Was Jayme ever allowed to have friends visit the home? Were the parents or Jayme ever seemingly deliberately vague when describing to others where they lived? Was Jayme allowed to use social media?

At the start of this thread during the timeline of events it states:

LE Statements:
  • October 15, 2018 at 12:58am the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from a subject asking for help at 1268 Hwy 8.
However in the Sheriff's Department Dispatch Entry the 911 call is at 00.53 and police dispatched at 00.56. So i presume 12.58 means 12.53 and could be a clerical error?

I completely agree. If this was something that occurred “close to home” or was some sort of online predator, we’d have an arrest by now.

I’m now leaning towards something random, and we know how those cases tend to go.

There’s still hope, but an ugly reality lurking.

I tend to mostly agree with this, but also think we need to keep in mind that there's a wide gap between thinking they know who did it and having what they need to make an arrest or even go public with a name. I've been trying to read up on the short family case in the last two days (eerily similar) i don't know much about it, but it seems like they had a pretty decent suspect but they could never get the evidence to make a case.

snipped by CuriousMaine for focus.

BBM: Find news story link on Thread 18, Page 40, Post #482
Edit added for clarity: The GMA clip shows both, the snowman and the man/investigator in white/clean suit walking in front of what appears to be a hutch with a snowman (decoration) on it.

Good catch. On the last thread someone was asking if LE entered info into NAMUS or if anyone can. The answer is that anyone who has a NAMUS account can enter missing persons (Unidentified remains have to be entered by an ME/coroner). NAMUS simply checks to make sure there is an open police file for the missing person before the entry goes live on the site, but info can be wrong on a NAMUS case page. I believe one of our members here entered Jayme in NAMUS. I recall seeing her post on the thread that she did. I will go back and see if I can find the name of the person. She may have simply taken info from the thread or early news reports to make the case file and that 12:58 typo got carried over. JMO.

Tagging @Mysteries1974 are you able to edit the NAMUS page? Our timeline here apparently has a typo. Thanks so much for your help getting Jayme's case into NAMUS.

I’ve also read on the Short family case after it being referenced here..I had never heard of it (but also haven’t been following these cases that long)..but I got a weird sick feeling in the pit of my stomach reading about it because of the similarities..and then the family photo? The similarities are very very difficult to ignore. They also look quite a bit alike.

Makes me wonder if there is a security camera in the home, that has Jayme on it,but not anyone else. Or security cameras in and around the neighborhood.
I swear I saw a post that there was one on a lightpole,or something that is right near the Closs house.
Sorry can't remember what thread,or post number.

I think it's based on the 911 call. It was the last known place she was confirmed to be.

LE used a pole camera. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of?
Info comes from the dispatch log:

1:38 301 REQUESTED PHOTOS OF THE PROPERTY.
1:54 317 ADVISED ERT REQUESTING POLE CAM.
[115 – 10/15/2018 01:32:00] 303 REQUESTED THAT 301 GRAB THE DRONE.

911 Call In Jayme Closs Case Came From Mom’s Cell Phone

From reading other news articles where a pole camera was used, I think LE could have used a pole cam to check the attic of the house. Here is an article where suspects were found hiding in the attic and police used a pole cam before sending officers up: https://www.heraldnet.com/news/alert-neighbor-stops-burglary-in-marysville/

Well worth the read.

Meth monster returns to Chippewa Valley and is extending its reach

" Most of the hardest-hit counties, including Eau Claire, Barron, St. Croix, Dunn and Rusk, are in northern and western Wisconsin. Barron County ranked third among Wisconsin’s 72 counties last year with 115 meth cases. Eau Claire County was seventh with 64, and St. Croix County was eighth with 56. "

True, but LE had stated that their belief she's alive was based on the 911 call, and other things that they can't specify.
Could be how they are so sure. If they know the type of cars believed to be involved, maybe her image was captured however briefly in at least one frame.

Question: Do we know if Barron County Sheriff's Department squad vehicles have dash cam? TIA

Men in disguise attempt break-in --

Was anything reported stolen from Closs residence? Why the Closs family? Who was obsessed with Jayme?

Would-be burglars get the fright of their lives | Daily Mail Online

November 4, 2018

SPEAKING TO CTV EDMONTON: Clem, who shared the footage on YouTube, said: 'By the time the second guy showed up, I knew it was a matter of seconds.

'Adrenaline was running high.

'He makes three or four really hard attempts [to get in].

'The first thing that popped into my mind was to say 'get away from the door'.

Clem was alerted to his doorbell being rung by a notification on his phone.

He then turned on a live feed to his doorbell camera he saw the first man who was carrying a mail bag and wore a safety vest.

But after ringing the bell several times and looking through the door he pulls out a walkie talkie from his pocket and radios a second man.
