Maybe James did carry a gun to the door, not really intending to shoot anyone but just in case, and when he saw an armed perp, tried to slam the door...

Or even if he did not see the perp’s gun, seeing him was enough to slam the door

That's kind of how we open the door to people we're not expecting after midnight. You have it nearby, just in case, but it's not actually cocked and ready to go. If someone knocked then it might have thrown them off, too. The thought has gone through my head that, well, they knocked so they must be okay or otherwise they'd have just barged right in. (I know, not entirely logical, but the idea still floats.)

So what qualified it to be an amber alert? It definitely should be! I’m just wondering.
It took some time. Their first attempt at getting approval from the FBI was denied. I don't remember exactly what they had to do to convince them, they didn't even have a description of her clothing, but the second time it was approved and they got the ok. I think it took several hours. Imo

Is it just me or does there seem to be A LOT of mystery surrounding James Closs ? We've heard that Denise and Jayme were active in the church...nothing about James' involvement in the church. We've heard glowing comments about Denise and Jayme...not one word about James, apart from comments from a HS friend who said he loved football. We know that Denise and Jayme attended a family party Sunday afternoon...no one seems to know where the heck James was. Was he at work ? We don't know. Apparently not even Denise's family knows for sure where he was. Was he at the casino ? The sheriff doesn't know.

Am I the only one bothered by all the lack of information about one of the murder victims ? It's almost like no one even knows the guy.
Its not just you. Ive thought that for a while but, as you said, have had to tread lightly.

The Sheriff talked about it in the Dryden interview. There were dead parents so they asked the FBI, I believe to imtervene and have it made an Amber Alert
Yes, two murdered parents may have been convincing. They also had to be positive that she was there in the first place, as opposed to at a friend's or a relatives house. Since it did not meet the requirements they had to try even harder to make her eligible. I think it took about 3 hours. Imo

The other night I was watching "Murder Calls" on Investigation Discovery. They presented the case of a young woman (I forget the name) that was kidnapped in front of her home, as she was checking her mailbox. He made the young woman write a Last Will & Testament to mail to her family. And then as if that wasn't enough, he called the family after killing their loved one in order to taunt them with the details.

The reason I share this is because, as it turned out, the kidnapping was all coincidence and not pre-planned. The kidnapper had taken his mom to a hairdresser's appointment when he happened to look over and see the young woman coming out of a pool party. He then made a split decision to follow her home in his car and abduct her as she was checking the mail. He had no way of knowing that she'd be driving home? What if she was driving to a friend's house? Or to work or school? But he didn't care. He took the risk and it paid off for him.

Maybe something similar happened here.

was just a thought that flickered, not well thought out. the cctv footage bothers me, the how does that happen, so poor but color, then the thoughts just kind of mingled together I guess.
Maybe the color stands out more than the specific design of the car since it is moving so fast? I don't know. But at first they said it could by orange or red so when they are close in color it must be hard to tell. Imo

It's never been stated where the car pictures came from. It very well could have come from a home security camera which is definitely not as high quality as the cameras at the casino.

Which in hindsight let time go by. Maybe anytime a minor goes missing an Amber alert should be activated. These crimes are escalating, maybe time to revamp the criteria? IMO
