I saved an early copy of the 911 call log that still had names etc. What are we specifically looking for? Sorry but I haven't been focused as much here.

An entry of a unit going to an Almena address, when they arrived and when it was marked complete or leaving residence.

And an entry regarding a school contact which if my memory serves correctly was in the 4 a.m. to 5 something a.m. range.

Thanks, you probably won't find either is my guess. Yet if you saved it independently maybe we will luck out.

LE simply can not tip their hand on the ongoing investigation.

My amateur speculation is that they are running forensic studies, working with a Carrier on cell info, analyzing online data, continuing ongoing interviews of many people, reviewing the Closs family financial docs and communications, and probably have more than a couple people under surveillance. This all takes time. If they find Jayme during the course of their investigation, they will move swiftly, I have no doubt.

Otherwise, they will work with the DA to insure they have enough for a conviction prior to an arrest(s). I’d say given the timeline, things are on track.

Like many cases, we will log in to be stunned that, without indication, an arrest has been made. Hopefully, that will accompany an announcement that our little teen has been recovered alive.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I agree. To my mind, an intelligent police force keeps quiet. It's tough on families, and the rumor mill cranks up, but it's still the best choice, IMO.

I and most on here I would guess sure hope you are right. In saner moments it is what I think but then frustration sets in. So little information I guess and a child still missing.

I don’t remember reading those things in the call log, but I can tell you that the statement that officers saw feet came from an Oct. 22 episode of the Ashleigh Banfield show. Sheriff Fitzgerald said the responding officers saw an open door and what they believed were feet. Ashleigh was actually the one who used the words “sticking out of the open door.” Here is the transcript of that episode:

CNN.com - Transcripts

Excerpt:

FITZGERALD: Well, in some degree, I can. And again, the logs that we released aren`t always the evidence that`s collected at the scene. They`re the first initial appearance that an officer goes through. But yeah, our -- the initial appearance with an officer were obviously some kind of commotion, as you stated, last week in the show. Our officers responded, pulled into the driveway, and saw an open door and then saw what they believed to be feet. And then responded up there and found the bodies of James Closs and then went in the house and found Denise Closs.

BANFIELD: How far -- how far -- yeah, how far in the house was Denise Closs? If James Closs was found at the door, and as you just mentioned, I think that`s the first I`ve heard of this, sir, that when you`re officers responded, they could see his feet from the driveway sticking out of the open door of the home. Is that correct?

FITZGERALD: I don`t know exactly where they -- when they picked him up on site. I don`t know if they pulled in the driveway or when they exactly saw them, but the door was ajar. And I can`t comment on where Denise was found in the house. But I think going to any scene like that, that`s what we train our officers to do is their first initial observations and that`s why that`s collected in that call log.

It was reported in MSM that deputies contacted a school liason officer. Here is one example:

New Video Surveillance Search Expanded, Electronic Device Detecting K-9 Used in Jayme Closs Search
“At that time, deputies didn't know if anyone else lived there. They contacted a school liaison officer who said the Closs' had a daughter. That's when investigators realized the 13-year-old eighth-grader was missing.

The dispatch record showed reinforcements were immediately called: a command post was set up, a search team, drone and forensic mapping went to work. The FBI was called in and security at the nearby St. Croix Casino notified. A statewide alert was put out.”

I know it's been attributed to LSD in the juiceboxes and case closed, but I'll take one shot and not mention it again: the interview bizzel posted had the brother saying he had gut reactions, while the couch interview did not have him saying that.

Is it possible that the two interviews have been conflated/combined in the collective mind?

If not, it seems that we still have Steven saying he has a gut reaction as to the perpetrator. And maybe that interview should be preserved, just in case in comes up again.

I’m fairly certain that things got conflated at this point. If you go back to thread 26, page 30-31 there is more discussion about it. Heck, on those pages there are a few posters now insisting that it exists telling other posters that it doesn’t. That’s how things go on here when we get to dozens of threads.

I’ll say it again, the whole theme of every interview with the family has been that they have no idea what happened. It doesn’t make sense that those same interviews would include something where a family member says that they do have a pretty good idea.

Does anyone else remember reading in the call log that they saw James feet sticking out of the doorway on their approach to what they thought was s suicide? Does anyone else remember reading, again, in the call log that they contacted Jayme's school resource officer to ascertain that there WAS a juvenile in the Closs home because they came upon her room? These and other items are what I remember reading but now cannot find in the call log. It says they issued whatever it was that they issued re missing juvenile at 0317? Why the time discrepancy? The call log says nothing about these two things and I remember reading both. TIA

Both of those came from interviews with the sheriff, so both are correct.

Neither was in the call log.

I wasn't posting in this thread at the time, and I'm not about to tell people what they remember and don't remember. My only point was that the video you linked, at #604, the interview at the table, *does* have Steve saying he has a gut feeling. I wondered if the table interview and the couch interview became conflated after the passage of time.

Did we ever hear 12:31 from the Sheriff? If this is the only place we've heard of the time adjustment, maybe Mrs Smrekar subtracted 7 minutes when she should have added, so instead of 12:31 it's 12:45?

Nothing ever from LE about 12:31.

In fact the sheriff said the neighbors hearing the shots is totally unsubstantiated, at least the timing of them. LE is going with a much shorter timeline.

Can you name one thing in this case that does make sense???o_O

Aw shucks! You're welcome. :) I have a very good recollection of the night the call log was first reported (thread 5) because the initial article (Barron News-Shield) was behind a paywall and it caused a great deal of commotion and kept me up way past my bedtime, lol.

The only reference I've found to Almena was requesting assistance from their Fire Dept.

I don't know if this video has been linked (if so, my apologies) but it's Jim's brother and SIL, and vague ideas of someone at work and/or money issues.

Here is a longer version of that interview. I'm not sure if it includes any additional statements made by Jim's brother and SIL though - I haven't compared the two videos.

Well once again nothing is happening. Where is Tim Miller? Get him in there. Whoever this is, has outsmarted le and fbi. Wowzers. That is not good at all.

TES and Tim Miller, in order to come in, usually have to be requested by family as I understand it.

They also have to focus their searches based on leads directly from LE, so if LE has no idea where to search, then this hard for TES to come in and search because she could be anywhere. I agree it would not hurt to have them re-canvass the obvious and nearby areas, if they could do that.

No doubt Tim and TES are aware of Jayme considering the active AA, moo.

That’s a tough watch. I would think police know within first 2/3 days about money angle...401k at work... bank info.. any recent withdrawals...they have 2 newer cars.. TVs / phones / guns... didn’t look like they were broke in any photos ...

Makes me think work/local drugs/16 to 50 yr old male... problem with work is you have 100 new ees each year at jenni o and Barron wi seems to be town u choose when your out if options unless your a farmer..

Plus main road going to a ton of other cities pass closs home... hoping it’s tied to closs naiberg circle of people cause I don’t see an easy catch otherwise.

LE has no idea where to search? LE has only two areas to search, their community which I'm sure has been searched and researched and their place of employment. I hope they are searching the latter.

Mommy, if I may ask - As part of your mad scientist documentarian process, do you actually save videos - or just the links to them? Say, things like interviews?

I want to believe she is alive but I also want to believe LE has an idea of who did this and those two things seem a little contradictory. If LE has an idea, why haven't they executed a search warrant? If they have an idea, even without physical evidence, they could probably get a search warrant. Furthermore, if they have an idea of who did this, but do not know where she is, that is equally confusing. Someone would have had to visit her at least once since she went missing. I can't imagine anyone having over two months of food on hand. I truly do not think she is dead, but I am looking for ideas on how she could be alive? Unless LE really has no idea who did this... Thoughts?

Have you ever watched the show Doomsday Preppers? There are survival experts who give detailed instructions on how to amass enough provisions to last years. Admittedly, that type of scenario would entail a lot of long term preparation and planning. It might not be likely, but it is possible.
