I sure hope this all leads to her safe return. :please:
I think everyone here in Wausau who knows about her - which is pretty much everyone, near as I can tell - keeps their eyes open, and keep hoping. Even if they never say or do anything visible publicly about it.

All I can offer are theories at the moment. I am still catching up on some of the details in Stephanie's case, and double-checking I have my facts straight. :)

Also: I hope no-one minds my keeping tabs on these other investigations or cases, and doing updates at least until a connection is ruled out? It's a promising development, in my opinion, and worth perhaps, following?

The news the other day was promising, in my mind. The police assigned to that part of town would undoubtedly "know" the house. So I'm sure they are probably considering the possibility of it all being related.

One thing I noticed between the two stations' reports was that they completely failed to mention, in part, the victim of JA's crimes. They didn't mention his abduction of the woman from Weston at all, nor the fact that her child was with her at all, and seemed to imply that they were investigating him for the gun robberies already, and that's why he was wanted. It completely ignores the report of the bank teller, and the victim passing the note being a part of the associated crimes committed. I found that a bit strange that they would leave that out as it was the same day as the article was written at the other station and that's a pretty important part of the equation if you ask me... It's curious.

I've got so much to catch-up on, but I'll 'keep in touch'. Sorry I'm always so long-winded. I type too quickly for my own good, as it doesn't take long to fill up a page. :)

There has been another arrest in the gun store robberies cases...
The man's name is Derrick Sangster - he is also 30 years old. His brother apparently informed the police about there being a large amount of guns and drugs in the apartment he shared with him.

The person who was killed in early October was female, for some reason I was under the impression they were male. The woman, Lee Xiong, 20, who was murdered lived in Weston, though. So we have 3 different locations involved now - Wausau, Weston, and the robbery up in Bradley (Lincoln County). And one of the Wausau apartments is related to KPT - the POI in Stephanie's case. If we add in locations in Stephanie's case, you could include Madison (IIRC), which is likely a hub for the drug connections.

At least at this time, JA is not being charged with anything related to an abduction of any sort, so I don't know what happened to that whole story... It was an MSM source, so I don't know where they would have gotten the information from if not LE. JA is on a $20,000 cash bond, so that's in line with him only having the gun charges (the bond is a bit low, imho).

This is from our local paper. There are pictures of DS and JA at the webpage. I haven't gone through the tv and radio pages, yet.

Dozens of Stolen Guns Still Missing in Wausau Area - Wausau Daily Herald - November 29, 2012
http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/ar...ns-still-missing-Wausau-area?odyssey=obinsite

I wanted to add that in the time since Stephanie's disappearance there has been a general increase in serious crime in the local area - especially apparent drug dealing involving violence (likely due to these particular dealers' product line, and probably self-use, according to LE's statements I have gathered this is true). The products they are involved are Methamphetamine, Crack/Cocaine, and I believe heroin was mentioned at least once as well, but I'm not positive.

I don't keep sharp tabs on everything happening lately because it would likely make me paranoid given my background. And, I have to trust that my daughters stay away from people of this sort, and bad situations, and stay aware at all times like they've been taught. I can't lock them in the house as adults! LOL But I know these people are around, and so do my daughters. And, we are all well aware that despite our best efforts to remain safe, these things can happen anytime as well

A good thing is that people still talk to their neighbors here. People are also more likely to talk in grocery lines, and see their friends in the stores, too, so there is "chatter" in the community still, too. (Much different than where I lived in the west part of Denver about a decade ago, which is one of the reasons we moved back to the Mid-west, btw.) Walking in the good parts of town is still relatively safe even in the early night - especially closer to downtown, and in our neighborhood where there is good street lighting, but we don't treat it as a preferable method of transportation, either.

I'll be researching a little more into these things today and this weekend - especially from possible connections around the time of Stephanie's disappearance, and if I find anything of importance, I will make a notation at the bottom of this post, for the sake of not doing back to back posts on the thread, and having an up-to-date summary soon.

UPDATES ON GUN ROBBERIES CASES & RELATED CRIMES -
I am looking up information on the people arrested so far in the WI court database.

JA, and MG, live at the same address as KPT - the POI in Stephanie's case. I have confirmed this via the court records listed address for each.

I don't know why the other charges were missed by the media when they reported on JA's arrest in the articles I posted links to above. It's strange that they would miss a whole other section, IMO. Esp. one involving a woman being abducted, and held, and abused like that! Especially because his roommate was of such a mind to threaten the young HS girl like that when she reportedly had refused his advances, or broken up with him.

Officially, cccording to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Records, JA has 3 cases filed against him that are open. The 2 cases filed over the last week in Marathon County both involve felonies, and are cross-referenced with each other through the court system. He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on both for December 11, 2012. He was reported in an earlier article to be facing up to 93 years in prison, but I don't know if that's for the weapons charges, the crimes against the woman in relation to kidnapping and sexual assault, or all of them combined. Also, JA has a very long list of cases filed against him in various counties in Wisconsin, and by various agencies as well. He is definitely not a "new convert" to crime.

There are a lot of people who have been recently arrested and charged in connection with each other so I am still checking up on some things and can't say whether or not there are any other things of interest in them at this point. Regardless if this leads to answers in Stephanie's case or not, I am grateful police have arrested these people and they are locked up at the moment. It's good to have them off the street no matter what!

Note: you can search and read the court documents by going to the WI Courts official (.gov) website: http://wcca.wicourts.gov/index.xsl

I found a facebook link between EM (SL's BF), and JA - the man recently arrested that shared the home with KPT (the POI in SL's case). There are also other links with people who have been recently arrested in regard to the case I've been noting here.

I think it's highly likely that all of these people in these associated cases may have an idea what happened to SL - or at least a couple do. I think it's just a matter of time and getting people to talk - especially as there are so many getting arrested with strings of felonies - maybe someone will try to get a plea deal in exchange for info.? I wonder if police will update the community if they've found anything else... I read over some docs from EM's motion for suppression of evidence in his appeal last year, and although his cousin's appearance at the apt. is suspicious, IMO - he might not have had anything to do with what happened.

What I'm curious about is where is all the drug money??? The police found 28 grams of cocaine in the safe, baggies, and a scale, but no mention of any cash? I honestly don't think SL was necessarily the target of whomever came to the apt. that night. With the evidence found in the apt. they may have tried to get her to divulge the location of the drugs - perhaps she didn't know, or they thought she did? The LE pryed the safe open though - so if the people coming to the house had known about the safe, I would think they could have opened it, too.

Anyway, nothing new except a definite connection between EM, and KPT, JA & MG. (JA is listed as a friend on EM's FB account.) Pretty sure that EM has been in jail since before SL's disappearance, so unless he added JA as a FB friend while he was in jail (doubtful), it would appear that they were already connected when SL disappeared (was taken). That would fit with KPT being the POI as well.

Question for everyone here: Is it safe to assume that the police are well aware of these connections? How familiar with Facebook are LEOs? I was in conversation with an officer here locally a few months ago, and he feigned complete ignorance of FB and the private messaging system - I don't know if he REALLY didn't know, or if he was saying that so I would calm down, start at the beginning, and explain what I was dealing with in more detail?

I just wonder if they are aware of some of these connections between the people. Like I said, it would seem like they are as they have busted quite a number of them who were friends with EM in the last month or two. Just wondering if anyone else has put this info. together in relation to Stephanie's case as the media is doing quite a poor job covering these arrests, and the connections between them all - I don't know if it's just a case of them being inept, not spending time on investigative journalism in any real way, or if they do know and the PD has asked them NOT to publish details that connect these cases?

It's surreal to me as there was a HUGE drug ring they just busted here, but it's not reported as such, at all. And, in fact, details keep appearing and disappearing in the coverage depending upon which station one seeks for info. Not sure how it's all being reported in the paper as they put up a subscription wall now, and I'm not paying for their (often pathetic) reporting, frankly...

Just looking for some insight on whether this is something to leave be, and trust they know... Or, whether I should be trying to get a hold of one of the detectives and point out the information available publicly on FB that they could use to assist in their investigations...

Also, can anyone offer insight as to why an adult victim would remain unnamed in media reports? There was an 18-mo. old child with her while she was being held by JA, so perhaps in an effort to not identify the child? Perhaps for her own protection against others involved who may still be out there? I'm familiar with them never naming children, but they aren't naming the adult woman who they rescued, either.

I figure those here with much more experience might be able to offer some insight into all of this...

First, I want to THANK YOU!! for your dedicated work on Stephanie's thread. You do a great job and are great at finding info out!

I would think that LE would know about FB and other social media sites. They have had the need to develop special units just for that. Something called Cyber-Crimes Unit, or something along those lines. I would hope that if Stephanie had a computer/laptop or whatever, they would have taken it and had it checked out really good.

I wish I had more answers for you, but I have nothing but questions on this one....I just hope that she is found. Sadly, I don't think Steph is with us anymore, but I want her remains found so her family can at least have that closure and not the constant wonder/worry about where their little girl is. This must just eat them up! Thanks again for your hard work!

O/T: You getting much snow up by you?? We got a little of the white stuff Sunday morning....it can go away now! LOL :floorlaugh:

Sorry I haven't been on the thread in a while. I was offline for a couple months at the beginning of the year, and there hasn't been much to report that I've seen, unfortunately. [I can answer the O/T question still - even 4 months later - YES, as a matter of fact, we ARE getting snow... still... lol)

KT was in court the today on his charges. There is nothing new to report on Stephanie's case, but LE confirmed that he remains a "person of interest", although not a suspect in her disappearance.

On the charges he appeared in court for, he pled no contest as part of a plea deal for one charge of battery and one charge possession of methamphetamine, and returns to court in June for sentencing.

WAUSAU (WAOW) -
<snip>
Last August Wausau police said they considered Torgerson a person of interest in the disappearance of Stephanie Low. Low went missing from her Wausau apartment more than two years ago.

Torgerson's attorney had no comment on Friday's court appearance or the missing persons investigation.

On Friday Wausau police told us they still consider Torgerson a person of interest in the missing persons case. They also report he's not considered a suspect and has not been charged with a crime in connection with Low's disappearance.

Yeah, LE, even/esp departments in smaller communities, are well-aware of FB and its value to them.

But screenshotting and saving any info ya come across that seems pertinent couldn't hurt, as posts/messages/etc do get deleted.

What's up with all the drug activity in the middle of Wisconsin? Weird.

Possibly related??? I'm posting this here as media is making assumptions about the identity of the remains as being that of Anita Bucki. However, the remains had to be sent all the way down to Madison for an ID - that seems to indicate that they may be "older" remains than those of a couple weeks (it hasn't been that hot up here - in fact it was below freezing again last night). I remember that they searched for Stephanie last up in Lincoln Co. based on a tip. I'm sure Stephanie's parents - as well as Kayla's parents are nervous right now as well... There are a few more people missing for years up here, so there's no telling who this body belongs to. At least one family will get some closure, and hopefully justice served, if need be.

Investigation Continues in Taylor County after Body Found

The Taylor County and Lincoln County Sherrif's Departments say the investigation into the body found in Taylor County is still ongoing.

The autopsy is being performed in Madison at the Wisconsin State Crime Lab to determine the identity of the remains found.

There has been no further word on the investigation since authorities wrapped up their work Friday evening.

We'll keep you up to date as the investigation unfolds.

The news media outlets up here were making all kinds of assumptions that the remains belong to Anita Bucki. Seeing as the remains were sent all the way down to Madison for ID at the state crime lab would indicate to me that the remains found were likely "older" than Anita's remains would be (if she is indeed deceased as I think is likely).

For anyone who is local, there is a planned public search occurring this Sunday, May 19th at 7:30am. They are asking everyone to meet at Oak Island (located just North of Bus. 51/Grand Ave. on Thomas - turn down Riverside Drive which is across from Marathon County Social Services building to get to the park entrance.

Here is a link to the announcement that was published via Ch. 7 News here in Wausau:

This October will be three years since Stephanie Low, 24, went missing from her Wausau apartment. Since then her family has spent nearly every minute looking for her, and this Sunday is no exception.

The family is asking for the public's help to search. Those with boats are encouraged to bring them to Oak Island in Wausau. From there the groups will split up.

“I believe my daughter is still out there... alive. I have to believe that. I have to be able to get up every morning. I have to be able to have the strength to keep looking for her”, explains Stephanie's mother, Claudia Blake.

Stephanie's family is hoping for 75 to 100 volunteers. Searchers are asked to be at Oak Island by 7:30 a.m.

I'm going to try to be there on Sunday morning, although I don't know how much walking I can physically accomplish due to my back. I'm hoping there is something I can assist with even if I can't walk for very long/very far...

If anyone else here at WS is going to be there, please leave a comment if you are comfortable doing so - I'd love to meet some of you in person!

I pray this search will be successful and that we can be a part of finally bringing Stephanie home where she belongs... AND, that LE can bring charges against the POI who has allegedly confessed to killing her.

I cannot be there tomorrow morning but I will be thinking of Stephanie and her family.

Her boyfriend was previously in jail for manufacturing and delivering cocaine back in 2003. It was a probation violation to that conviction that landed him in jail the Friday before her disappearance. His court record for the conviction shows a charge modifier of habitual criminality. She may have met some "unsavory" people from his past...

http://wcca.wicourts.gov/caseDetails.do;jsessionid=4C3447128A3CC7E8D2E7A6E43389B97B.render6?caseNo=2003CF000674&countyNo=37&cacheId=39B0A001CF62E4FC12EBB4650249B1E5&recordCount=9&offset=4&mode=details&submit=View+Case+Details

I am trying to read my way threw Stephanie's thread and Kayla Berg. So I don't know much yet...just kind of jumping in here.
But I wanted to just point out. If I am reading this right Stephanie's boyfriend went to jail right before she went missing. Could it be that maybe he was thought to have turned someone in. Or maybe it was thought that Stephanie had turned in some people to keep her charges down or jail time less.

Search for missing Wausau woman planned

Hi everyone, I just wanted to post that I've not been able to keep up on the case the last couple of months due to family stuff that should be settling down at this point. I plan on trying to catch up over the next few days. I haven't heard anything new, and I unfortunately didn't get a chance to get over to the search they had a couple of months back. I just wanted to post and assure Stephanie's family - if they read here - that I didn't forget about her... I don't think I ever could at this point, it bothers me that this has gone unsolved, despite the POI being named.
