In one, Lena Lunsford, 34, formerly of Bendale and now of St. Petersburg, Florida, has been arrested in a five-year-old cold case.
Lunsford killed her 3-year-old daughter, Aliayah, Sept. 24, 2012, and then concealed the body and the crime, Lewis Sheriff Adam Gissy and the investigator, Deputy E.E. Carpenter, alleged last week.
Aliayah Lunsfords body never has been found, but the investigation is ongoing.
Lena Lunsford is jailed on a $250,000 cash bond, awaiting a probable cause hearing before Special Magistrate Mike Coffman on a felony charge of death of a child by parent by child abuse. If convicted, Lena Lunsford could get up to 40 years in prison, although she wouldnt have to serve more than half of that if she received maximum good behavior credit.
Its likely Gissys department, the FBI, State Police and Prosecutor Christina Flanigans office also will look to pursue any other charges, if applicable, against Lunsford, whos also known as Lena Conaway and Lena Marie Lunsford-Conaway.
That, by itself, would be plenty to keep the courts and Flanigans office busy.
