This is probably the most bizarre part of the story to me… like huh?!? Why the urgency? She's also questioning Brian's trip back to Florida in August to help his father move their belongings out of a storage unit.
Brian left Gabby in the Fairfield Inn in Salt Lake City and flew back home to Florida from August 17 to the 23 to help his father empty out a storage unit where he and Gabby had their things.
According to Schmidt, Brian's father offered to let them keep their belongings at his house so they wouldn't have to pay for the storage unit.
He left Gabby at the hotel so she, understandably, wouldn't be alone in the van. Brian then flew back to Utah and they left the hotel together on August 24.
Schmidt now wonders why it was necessary to move Gabby's things during their road trip and what became of her stuff.
'Where are her things?' she asked.

Well, IMO, it would have been more economical to pay for a few more months of a storage unit than pay for round trip flight from SLC to Tampa and a room for a week at a hotel. This story(flying back to move things) doesn't add up to me.
Yes, what’s he got to hide, if he’s telling the truth? His family could help him best by encouraging him to help LE and the Petito family.
About as simple as that.
Just say what happened, where you both were, and what day.
But maybe it's not so simple ?
Idk.
Imo.
A snap chat can be a text without a pic. I will respond sometime to my kid's post on SC..@Seattle1
Finally open for discussion!
So, why did the boyfriend fly back Aug 17 to 23 to move Gabby’s things into storage?
My thoughts about the timeline
Aug 12 ‘incident’ is probably an outsider calling out of concern about domestic violence. Police arrive, Gabby and boyfriend put a good face on things, police go away.
Do we know where this incident happened?
Purely my speculation that some time in the next few days, the boyfriend tells his parents that things aren’t going well, and Gabby won’t be living with him, when they get back to Florida.
Purely my speculation that his parents’ response is to say: “Then you can get her things out of our house RIGHT NOW” and send him a plane ticket home.
At this point, he actually could have stayed in Florida—as we know now, she owned the van. But he returns, for whatever reason. Maybe they’ve had phone contact during the time he’s in Florida, and they’re going to try to make up.
So he flies back on the 23rd.
She’s seen leaving a hotel on the 24th.
If I’m correct, she Facetimes her mother on the 25th, and the only contact people have after that is a few scattered texts that anyone could have sent.
Except—there’s a reference to a Snapchat message to a friend on the 27th. Is Snapchat always pictures, or could it be just a text? I also wonder if it was spontaneous, or if it was a response to something her friend sent to her.

This. I'm sure when he arrived he said he needed time, space and didnt wanna talk about it.when the text came in he probably assured them she was, wherever, and they just gave him that space. Id like to say id do this and that, but to be fair, trusting my son id definitely give him time and space. And now theyre in the sh@*s and trying to figure out how to go about it all. Hopefully,it went down like that. Otherwise they are despicable. I hope she is found safe and sound. As a fellow strong islander, i think that girl is strong and hopefully wherever she is she's holding on.I imagine it this way: Brian comes home and tells his parents an innocent reason why Gabby isn't with him. Days later Mrs. L gets a text saying that she hasn't heard from her daughter for days. Mrs. L talks to Brian about the text she's received and fears (or realizes) that foul play involving her son has occurred. I think I'd ignore the text too while I figured out what to do and say for my son's sake.
If his parents had early knowledge, I think they would either have concocted a plausible story or turned him in. Look at the fix they're all in now--most hated family in America.
BL Probably stalling as long as he can to come up with a good story.Very cold indeed, it’s as if he’s already distancing himself from her. IIRC, they had broken bones their engagement and decided to continue dating.
It does not make sense to spend money for a flight, to save the storage unit fee….
There must be other reasoning for the trip home.
BL cannot continue hiding, and his parents cannot continue to remain silent.
I predict that their attorney will make some sort of announcement.
There was an accident, Gabby fell off a cliff while they were rocking climbing or about to take a photo. He panicked. He remains so traumatized that he cannot remember exactly where it happened...he just remembers the cliff and freaking out.
Some such thing....not his fault...didn't call 911 because he was so scared he would be looked at as having pushed her off, especially after the earlier argument they had where someone called the police. That was just a spat, nothing serious, but it looked bad.
ugh....I'm just heartsick for Gabby and her parents.
In a new development on Tuesday night, the Moab, Utah police chief revealed in a statement that officers from his department responded to an "incident involving Brian Laundrie and Gabrielle Petito" on August 12.
I thought I read the post by mom or someone else he flew home and put her stuff in storage as they were living with BL’s parents. Can someone please confirm which is correct? It does not make sense to spend money for a flight, to save the storage unit fee….

"Our officers did respond to an incident involving Brian Laundrie and Gabrielle Petito on 12 August 2021 however, neither Brian or Gabrielle were the reporting party. Officers conducted an investigation and determined that insufficient evidence existed to justify criminal charges," Chief Bret Edge said.
So either the cashier has the dates wrong or he flew back early? At the Kicks 66 convenience store located down the street just a few hundred yards away from the Fairfield Inn, a cashier recognized the couple.
The cashier told the DailyMail.com, 'They came into together on the night of August 21. I remember them because he was telling her to 'hurry up.'
She didn't say anything back to him, at one point she left the store for a few minutes and came back in. They bought bottles of water, a few packages of instant noodles and donuts.'
The cashier pointed out that the Salt Lake City FBI headquarters is across the street from the convenience store, also within a few hundred feet of the Fairfield Inn. 'Their vehicle would have had to pass by the FBI cameras outside of the building pointing toward the street on several occasions.'

I thought BL was in Florida Aug 17-23. Perhaps the cashier is mistaken on dates or was she with someone else?

Me too. I cannot understand the “it was an accident and I panicked” excuse. For me, I’d call 911 and try to get help immediately. When you’re innocent, there is no second guessing or worrying about how this might look. You should be worrying about helping the victim, not yourself. IMOBL cannot continue hiding, and his parents cannot continue to remain silent.
