Or it could be he is scared of the FBI.
Brian's ego would never allow it. He's smarter than everyone else. He's the master of all things forest survival - in his head. His admitted hero, Christopher Thomas Knight excised all care, the road behind, the future, an audience called humanity, to live as he pleased as a hermit/burglar in the forest for 27 years before he was captured. Brian's big mistake was choosing Gabby for conversion to the iconoclastic, self-manufactured religion of Brian. He just couldn't break her of her love of the world and the souls who populate it. You mind as well try to teach a fish NOT to swim. That simmering incompatibility exploded on a dry creek bed. He finally blew his gaskets. Gabby was a mare who could not and would not be tamed or fully recruited into Brian's plan of the ages. She, not he, was innately liberated.
The next tool in his arsenal is to console himself with blowing off the past and getting down to the grand plan - the fully-realized Brian, alone, in charge, self-cutoff, living the dream.

Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

I suspect Brian believes this very thought.

Disney required a photo ID and scanned your finger print. It appears they are currently using facial recognition, due to Covid.

No End Date For Facial Recognition Testing at Disney World - Inside the Magic

Disney World has updated its website and removed the end date for its new facial recognition testing. The program was launched at the Magic Kingdom theme park on March 23 and was originally scheduled to be testing at the theme park through April 23. However, that end date has been removed from Walt Disney World’s website, and the site now simply states, “length of test subject to change.”

Keeping up tradition... this doesn't surprise me.
Walt was way ahead of his time.
Yes, it is definitely possible. Using Protonmail or other more secure mechanisms. And wouldn't even need a library or cafe if he's got a burner. If he were smart, he would avoid standard email services like Gmail and the like because they have a different relationship with LE than the more secure versions. Even the use of an app like Burner could allow him to change phone numbers willy nilly but I don't know how that shows up on recipient phone records like his parents'.

I now wonder if BL might be using an encrypted app like WhatsApp, similar to what Paul Manafort used in the early stages of his case... except he backed it up... big mistake.
or
if BL might use a gig like General Petraeus & Paula Broadwell tried to pull.. writing their intimate messages as a draft in their shared G-mail account, but never sending.

Both of those worked for a time for those parties but as we know now.. was not fool-proof.

This stands out to me.
If you want the FBI/LE to find your suicidal son why wouldn't you provide items with his scent on them? Unless you don't want them to find him.

The K9 team had to rely on its experience of nearly 200 search and rescue missions because the Laundrie family did not supply anything with Brian’s scent on it, Hadsell said.

“The parents as you know are being uncooperative, so we don’t have any sent articles or anything from Brian to be able to use it as a target odor for our dogs to work on,” Hadsell said. “So, we do what we call, ‘general human scent.’

I will tell you also that I had this thought- there are so many attention seekers in this world - you can easily name the top ten - that do nothing good for humanity but may pretend to - who are famous. They are all sociopaths imitating others’ humanity and humanitarian ness. My feeling is always that if we don’t give them any attention it would be better. Starve them of what they crave so they realize that they are unimportant. But how to help humanity see that that’s the only thing that will solve it. Taking the wind out of their sails.

As a fugitive from justice who has murdered a beautiful soul BL has guaranteed he will be talked about forever for those who can’t ignore this, in effect he has forced people who cared about her to care about him. It’s the ultimate chess move in narcissism.

yes, it is...he is forever linked to her.
DV/murder is often about control and wanting to own/control the victim forever. To erase the victim.

It would be helpful to know what these "episodes" are that Gabby reportedly told Rose about. CL knows what they are, for sure. If she is really trying to be helpful, she has already informed FBI of her knowledge of what they are, what triggers them, how he behaves, etc. I hope that she has hired an attorney and is sharing what she knows. It would be tragic if she is caught up in family deceit. She has a choice, though. jmo

I just keep thinking how easy it would be just to find a homeless community in a large city to mix in with. I don't think people follow the news much there, do they?

This was Joe Scott Morgan's theory on Nancy Grace's Crime Stories show the other day. Nancy didn't think Brian would like the lifestyle compared to his previous foofy one. But I think it is hard to discount what someone would do to survive.

BL was almost certainly there a week before he disappeared , so no surprise if they are some signs he was there, kayaked there, etc.
So maybe it’s possible that after Sep 14 when his parents reported him missing, he was never there? That’s not good…

And his parents met up with him when they went to the library! And probably gave him some cash.

They were shadowed by FBI agents the entire time they were in the library so that wouldn't have been possible, however, that's not to say that wasn't what their initial intention was.

Maybe they didn't think the FBI would follow their every move.

They had probably planned to leave the cash for him inside a copy of a Chuck Palahniuk novel on a certain date...;)

Why are various local level LE and the FBI putting so much money and so many resources into finding one guy?

We all want justice for GP but the staggering number of resources spent on this one case is just mind-boggling to me.

Why?
Yep, makes one wonder if he is suspected of another crime in addition to Gabby's homicide.

Yes, but he won't succeed in that. And we can all take comfort in how Narcissus ended. He killed himself, accidentally, but still. That should happen in this case, unless one of DTBH's canines gets to take a bite out of his hide first.

As I understand it, Hadsell is referring to Dog the Bounty Hunter's team, not to the FBI. As others have noted, the Laundries didn't even answer the door when Dog came calling, much less give him scent items.

AFAIK, the Laundries did give scent items to the FBI. At the least, they gave items that their lawyer said had BL's scent.

DTBH's use of "general human scent" means that his team's "hits" on those islands could be of other humans. Which of course they could still check out. It just makes Dog's leads a bit less promising than the headline of that piece implies.

At least until the search cools down. I wouldn't think he would plan to be there forever.

I feel you are correct in your assessment of BL.

I wonder if the FBI has asked the library for security video.

Don't need it. They followed them in

"The couple were followed inside the Orlando Public Library by undercover agents who hovered in the aisles as they kept them under constant surveillance"
