Since we’re talking about the SLC hotel thing & whether or not Brian actually went home…I remember listening to an interview where it was said that they stayed at a hotel near the airport bc the hotel had a shuttle that ran back & forth to the airport that Brian would use. & I remembered thinking that made a lot of sense bc Gabby wouldn’t have to drive the van thru an airport she’d never been to, etc. & the fact that Gabby’s dad said he ordered her pizza that night…not ordered them pizza. Anyways…that’s why I never really questioned it, but we still haven’t seen proof he actually went so…who knows. I always thought that storage room thing was super weird. Like why couldn’t someone else help his dad? Why’d he have to fly from Utah to do it? Makes no sense IMO…

ETA: fixed typo.

Hahahahahaha. Love it.

But I don’t give him that much credit.

I can’t stand the sight of BL so I’ve never watched him in any video nor looked at his photo with more than a brief glance. The duck feet thing has me almost curious enough to take a peek though. It sounds like a birth defect.

I don't like poking fun at anyone in a homicide case, and that includes persons of interest and suspects. But boy did Keyser Söze make an impression on me. It was hard to resist.

Wasn't the card her parent's card? for her I thought that's how they found the charge?

so much data and versions, its hard to keep track

This is all we know about the card ...

An arrest warrant issued for Brian Laundrie on Wednesday alleges the 23-year-old spent at least $US1,000 using an “unauthorized” Capital One debit card in the days following the death of his 22-year-old fiancée, Gabby Petito.

Suffolk County Police Department records obtained by Insider show Petito banked with Capital One.

And here is the actual indictment ...

Since we are throwing out scenario's for an event we don't know for sure even happened, I'll toss out this one.

GP/BL have always had a spirited relationship. He is flippant/dismissive a lot and she responds by getting physical with him. He, being bigger and can easily defend himself, just laughs it off. She gets upset and goes off to spend the night with her girlfriend. This repeats itself over the years of their relationship and they both are used to it. Even on the cross country car trip the year before they don't struggle because they stayed in hotels and took it easy.

But now they are in a highly confined space for weeks on end. She is frustrated trying to start a youtube channel which isn't easy. He's dismissive. She's even more physical with him. This spirals upward until he is responding with his own physicality and soon enough it spills out in public and they get the stop in Moab.

He's getting frustrated with their relationship and the whole trip and tells his parents about the stop and they convince him to end the relationship and come home. He agrees and does. She has the van but she doesn't want to go on without him, so she taps into the money set aside for the trip to spend on a weeks stay at a hotel. Maybe she plans to end the trip so the money doesn't matter. Or maybe she is stuck with the van after he leaves and she doesn't know what to do, so she gets the motel to figure it out. Maybe she spends the entire week messaging him to come back.

So after she convinces him that she will stop fighting with him or that things will be better, he decides to go back. They don't get better. He is miserable. She is miserable and they spiral out of control until one day, while trying to set up a photo shoot next to a beautiful creek, he kills her in a rage.
Very good. I like some elements of this.

So what's your theory of why she would have been at the hotel for 5 days, if you have one? I'm baffled!
My theory is that they were both relieved that their encounter with Moab LE didn’t turn out worse for both of them, and so when they reunited the next morning, they had a bit of a honeymoon for the next couple days. That would be the 13th and 14th. But the issues that led to the public squabble weren’t gone and tensions started to rise again on the 15th and 16th, culminating in a fight on the 17th. BL drove off with the van, but luckily for GP, she got her bag with her wallet, phone, and laptop out before he took off. She went to stay near the airport because it was less expensive than other places in town (or the other places in town were booked). She told her parents a cover story so that they wouldn’t worry or think less of him. While he was gone, they texted and talked and decided that they were a team and loved each other, so decided to continue on with the trip again. They repeated the cycle of fighting and making up one or two more times, before he lost control of himself at Scattered Creek.

Here's the blurb from the timeline thread here on WS...they certainly infer he was seen and he was at least in Florida ... still checking elsewhere cause Im not sure either

AUG 17: BL returns to Florida via airplane to move their things out of storage returns Aug 23 -Some reports say he moved stuff into storage and some say out of storage (source - handwritten note by Gabbys uncle and interview with Mom dailymail)

AUG 19: YouTube travel video posted by Gabby

AUG 21: Gabbys dad orders Uber eats delivered to hotel

AUG 21: Gabby told her Dad on FaceTime that they had lost power during a stop in Salt Lake City.

AUG 23: BL returns from Florida trip via airplane (dailymail interview with Mom)
(?Where was the van parked?)

Could it be though, that GP's mom and uncle were told that BL flew home and back, but he never did?

I'm with the other posters in that there is no proof beyond a reasonable doubt (LE statements, videos, receipts, hotel, airlines, neighbors, witnesses, etc) that I can find that BL flew home in the middle of that trip, or that any storage unit was emptied or filled.

crazy.

To the best of my knowledge they have not released the info on the owner of the card, I'm curious why that wasn't stated in the arrest warrant?

Do we know what day the trip was supposed to end and they were supposed to return home? Was there a return date?

I don't know either, my friend, I just got here. I should have added the caveat as far as we know right now/subject to change.

LOL I've been here all along but the threads have moved at lightening speed for awhile and I'm just now realizing how much we really don't know!
edited for typo

Thank you very much so we can deduce it was highly likely Gabby's correct and was found by the FBI FORENSICALLY?

but does that not bring into question, that they don't have enough evidence for anything else? sounds like it's the only way to put the heat on him.

I mean, the FBI statement issued along with the warrant for his arrest said “related to Mr. Laundrie’s activities following the death of Gabrielle Petito,” so while it’s not stated explicitly, it sure is implied. MOO
It just seems odd to me that it wasn't stated that it was hers. MOO
