Also, Gabby's friend Rose told the dailymail that Gabby admitted to her that she had slapped Brian, and that he pushed her after an argument over Gabby going out with Rose, and that Gabby was going to call Rose on her birthday AUGUST29th!......to meet up with them in Yellowstone.

Rose said Brian was jealous of their relationship. Could this have been the reason they were fighting? And not the incident at Merry Piglets?

I was about to pose this question myself. Could the “last straw” have been an argument over meeting up with Rose in Yellowstone? BL was said (by Rose) to have sabotaged at least 1 night that GP and Rose were supposed to go out, wonder if his jealousy or possessiveness got to him? All MOO and thinking.

I don't know the FL case, but the OJ case did in fact turn around a single action by. the defendant (the glove). In this case, I think that the defense will definitely have to construct a narrative based on BL doing something different than what he is absolutely known to have done. They can throw spaghetti on the wall, but it won't stick. IMO. Also, the choice of court venue and jury selection helped - Los Angeles is a very populated place, with a lot of diversity in attitudes, so the police malfeasance defense struck a huge chord with many jurors.

I do not think that's going to happen in Wyoming.

Whereas, if BL has anything he can say that will substantiate any form of alibi, he is going to need to do that. Sure, putting the people who picked him up on the stand can be done - but I do believe all three of them will say they didn't believe him at the time, he was acting strangely and impulsively, etc.

I am aware that juries sometimes find reasonable doubt without the defendant being on the stand - but it's rare. We don't even know where this is going to be tried (my understanding right now is that it is likely to be in a state court in Wyoming, in any case with a Wyoming jury). He's going to need a lot to get to reasonable doubt, IMO. An awful lot. What we already know and what can clearly be shown will need a great deal to give even one juror "reasonable doubt."

Of course, I believe that there's more camera footage available. BL leaves the campsite (they arrive on August 27) and walks for two days, during which he goes to the ATM, perhaps maxxing out the cash limit on two days. Wow. That looks really bad for him. And he's charged with a crime for doing it. Then he goes back to the campsite and takes off (with the autopsy indicating it's very possible she was killed before that), doesn't seem to look for her, doesn't raise an alarm about her being missing, takes all her stuff...runs away and becomes a fugitive.

I wouldn't be surprised if phone records show the two phones together - for a while, including when the supposed texts from Gabby to Mom occur past the 27th. He may even have called his parents a few times. While they may not be called to the stand in Florida, this trial won't happen in Florida. If Mom and Dad both take the 5th, I think that's the final nail in the coffin for most reasonable jurors.

I believe the circumstantial evidence and the forensic evidence from Gabby's body will be plenty strong enough - along with the evidence of mens rea.

If he did not do it, and he still cared about her (fat chance on both, IMO), seems to me he really would have taken hours looking for her -- I would have, and who here would not have? Somewhere in that search, why didn't he call 911, or go find a Parks official? Or just yell for help, at the least. He should have been in a panic -- did she fall, did she drown, did someone hurt her, and so on.
He had a motive, he had the means, and he had the opportunity. He was very angry at her, he was strong enuff and she wouldn't have been expecting it, and they were out in a place where the act could have been hidden or he could have done it in the camper.
And yes to mens rea -- guilty mind -- in-freakin'-deed.

And they will never put him on the stand. Never.
But he has to be found alive and arrested for any of this to matter...

Coroner Dr. Brent Blue released Gabby’s cause of death as strangulation, but couldn’t release any more information due to Wyoming law.

He refused to reveal several details about the autopsy's findings including:

1. the condition of her body
2. if her body was buried
3. whether any drugs were found in her system
   
4. whether she was killed in the same spot her body was found

He confirmed she was not pregnant at the time of her death - after internet sleuths circulated that theory online in recent days.

Gabby’s parents are expecting to return home to Long Island, New York, this weekend with her ashes, according to Fox.

So the parents knew the card was used in Illinois Aug 30-31 at a time they thought B&G were out west? But they didn't call LE until Sept 11? Doesn't make sense to me. Makes much more sense that they had enough access to deposit money for GP but not enough to track usage. In other words, they weren't authorized users of the card.

IMO he appears “busted”, panicked, flustered… He tries to make it about Gabby (attempting to deflect a direct accusation for which he has no good answer, having seemingly been caught of guard by the cop’s cut-to-the-chase bluntness), but he stumbles over his words/explanation… But lo! A savior! The other officer is back in view out the passenger window! It appears to me that Brian creates a new diversion (Gabby’s behaviors being the first) by engaging this officer in conversation (a most pressing topic, too: have they spoken with Gabby? [What did she say? What do they know?]). It works. The officer with the blunt accusation just walks away.

I was really shocked by how easily Brian played them. Like others here have said: What about the speeding? (Automatic ticket, minimum, for, what was it—45 in a 15?) What about all those injuries—on both? (His explanations about his face made NO SENSE, and his sexual insinuation about the nail marks on his arm should also have been challenged, given the overall context.) IME LE is always skeptical, at least until your behavior AND answers have been analyzed to their satisfaction. One lie or inconsistency, and their questions get harder—not easier. (To be clear: even a PERCEIVED inconsistency has this effect; when I reported a crime that had been committed against me, I was mercilessly interrogated—and I wasn’t even pressing charges!) I just don’t understand how their radar could have been so off here… Maybe Brian has a certain charm that works in person…

I made these same observations. Why, you ask, do these things happen? My answer won’t be popular or seem real but it’s the truth IMO. Evil (appears to be) gaining the upper hand in our world in many areas and in many situations. Especially whenever there is panic or fear as maybe was the case when you were reporting. <modsnip> Gabby was exhausted and afraid. BL was panicked but skilled at hiding it. That’s how BL was able to deflect attention away from the reality of what happened. Once they “became buddies” he had owned the situation. IMO.

Can I be right in guessing that on or about the time period he was captured on the cam--that would have been about the proximit same time her cellphone was shut off.

I mean, it does stand to reason, by what I'm reading.

If that is the case, then the time stamp WHERE her phone was shut off is going to play into this big time.

Besides, any single woman out there camping alone, with no phone or defensive weapons is a sitting duck. We see that here on this forum every day.

Agree. A caring partner would not leave his girlfriend in a campground alone. I know some women camp alone and are fine, but I would not feel comfortable doing that myself and I wouldn't recommend it. I've seen some extremely questionable people in campgrounds and you never know who is around you or what they might do when night falls. JMO

We don't know that he "needed" medication. During the Moab stop prescribed meds were discussed. He indicated he had not taken them. And the problem for which medication had been prescribed was anxiety.

The fugitive that was arrested yesterday, Ethan Waters……was he inside the reserve or near it? I’m wondering if LE was seeing him on deer cams, and thinking it was BL??

Was that fugitive so unlucky that he decided to hide in a remote reserve right when the FBI, the US Marshalls and the local SAR canines were searching for a murder suspect? I guess he doesn't watch the news?

A thorough autopsy was performed to find the cause of death. It included a full-body CT scan, an exam by a forensic pathologist, an exam by a forensic anthropologist and a toxicology evaluation. Additionally, the FBI sent materials to a forensic ophthalmologist.

"We were waiting for various specialists to come in and help us with this investigation," Blue said when explaining why it took nearly a month for autopsy results, "It was just a matter of making sure we have everything right."

He said the death certificate is not complete at this time. The state of Wyoming allows for approximate dates and variability. "I doubt there will be an exact date of death on the death certificate".

It makes perfect sense to me. I can pull up my adult child's bank account and see all transaction activity. I don't deposit money, I transfer it from my own bank account if necessary. And when I see activity that looks suspicious, I first phone the adult child to see if they are aware of it. I wouldn't be suspicious if the charge was in the area where I knew they were traveling.

I've had fraudulent charges appear on credit and debit cards. We've also been victims of credit card skimming while traveling and using gas pumps at truck stops. JMO
