Just mentioned on CNN that Emily Dietrich is in Hickory with a media organisation, unsure if from Australia or the US. They are taking care of her accommodation needs and paying for her while she is here. Mention on CNN of 'chequebook journalism' I hope whoever she is with is respectful and not looking to over sensationalise an already sensational story.

Me too but I get a hint that Emily had a good sense of media, and this is why it took her a long time to come out. She seems to see how they can become nasty and wolves. My guess is she got many offers to pay for her trip, and I wouldn't be too surprised that she was savvy enough to have in writing certain aspects that would be off limits and that one thing I'm willing to bet is anything that could jeopardize the prosecution of Zahra's death.

You are right she won't let our crazy media around her- She traveled here with her own media from home and they are in control of her whereabouts- local media do not know where she is.
On the other hand I guess there is no need to worry about her needing help navigating things here- she has someone already looking out for her.

I actually find this to be something someone would do that has any kind of intelligence about them, for one thing its quite obvious how things get so twisted up in the media, why should she trust anyone here to do coverage about her? I surely wouldnt, remember AB is still out, that alone is confusing to us, so can we imagine what that must tell her, he allowed Zahra to be abused in the first place, Im glad shes in hiding with her own people, if thats the case.

I must say that since NG and JVM have lately just bashed her horribly - then yes, I would have come with my own media crew as well. We have all seen our USA media scrums and they can be downright mean. Plus, like the other poster said - if she had limited finances then this media outlet would be better able to get her nice accomodations as well as assist in anything else she would need.

God bless her with what she must be facing today.

Breaking news on HLN: Reporter from WBTV – Steve Crump saying possible human remains found – shipped out to be verified. LE is trying to reconstruct this case. Bio-Mom is here in NC – she came here with an Aussie News crew and the news crew is in control of where ED goes. They don’t know if any local media has any opportunity to interview her.

My heart has been with her as she has made this journey. I can't even imagine what she must be feeling or going through. I hope and pray that the media here in N.C. won't treat her the way NG has if she does any interviews. I truly hope that LE are able to give her the remains of her beautiful daughter to take back to Australia. This is so so sad : (

While I feel some measure of compassion for her, I surely do not view this woman as a victim in this case. The ONLY victim here is Zahra.

Steve Crump of WBTV was interviewed by phone. He stated that ED is in the Hickory area and that she came with an Autralian news crew and that news crew is dictating who gets close to her.

Don't know what this means - he could just be a reporter that is miffed because she is with other reporters.

The Hickory Police Department would not confirm Dietrich’s arrival, but neighbors on the street where Zahra Baker lived with her father and stepmother said they saw Dietrich there with a television crew early Thursday morning.

Neighbor Eddie Mitchell said he was getting his newspaper at 7:30 a.m. when he saw Dietrich kneeling at a memorial for Zahra set up outside of the home.

“She said she'd been on a plane for 23, 24 hours,” he said, adding that she was overcome with emotion.

“(She was) crying the whole time," he said. "She just said, ‘It's just awful.’"

So the neighbors saw her at the memorial, and Hickory LE haven't confirmed they have spoken with her- so that tells me she was at the house to see the memorial not retrieve any of Zahra's things. Where did that info come from? I'm asking becuase Rad has said no media was at the house this morning.

IMO, I would assume that the house is locked up and no one but the owner of the home OR the police could get inside.

Yeah that is what I was thinking so it made wonder where the information came from earlier. Once I read there was no media there, is this another of the many tidbits of miss-information we have seen since day one on this case?
Visiting the memorial makes absolute sense to me- going through the house not so much.

Yes, I would think it would be somewhat comforting for her but we don't know - maybe she has a good friend that works for this media outlet? That would certainly be a plus - especially if her friend came with her. Maybe her DH knows someone in that media outlet? We just don't know - but I do think it was a smart move on her part to bring them with her - kinda like her own special bodyguards - KWIM?

Interesting to me that CNN has a problem with checquebook journalism. To me that sort of smells like she turned their offer down.

It is possible that Emily contacted the owner, however I was just mentioning that it's a good possibility that the house was locked up when she arrived in the early morning hours.
