I've mentioned earlier being a tutor for two prisoners with the Open University in the UK. They had all the course material but they could not contribute to any forums or discussions. I would imagine this sort of arrangement may still be possible.

Going back to this issue of whether EP could make a statement at sentencing, I don't believe it is the same in Australia (or England and Wales) but can't find a definitive statement. Defence lawyers speak on behalf of the convicted person, in mitigation or to convey their remorse.

Surely not. I don't think there's any automatic right to do so, is there? It would be at the judge's discretion - if, say, she wanted to express remorse.
Agreed, it would not be surprising if she never gives up. But she is no longer dealing with innocents and the court system is not, IMO, going to allow an appeal on a trivial issue.

She can pay a lawyer to lodge an appeal, but does she not still have to get leave to appeal?

But given the care with which the court guarded against any accusation of prejudice, what grounds could she have for appeal? It's not just up to her personality what happens next, fortunately.
