Trayvon Martin case 911 call: Screams not George Zimmerman's, 2 experts say

By msnbc.com staff
Updated at 2 p.m. ET: The voice heard crying for help on a 911 call just before Trayvon Martin was shot to death was not that of George Zimmerman, according to two forensic voice identification experts, one of whom told MSNBC on Sunday that he believes the evidence is strong enough to use in court.

It's possible he took a look for the purpose of gaining visual evidence to either refute or support GZ's claims? I 'think' that is what they are supposed to do. I hope he took a really good look and made notes, better yet, took pictures.

At the point I am talking about, he just visually examines the back of his head. It is at about 1:24 on this video:

Trayvon Martin's Parents Seek Federal Review Of Prosecutor
Family Wants To Know Whether Prosecutor Interfered With Police....

CNN) -- Trayvon Martin's parents will ask the U.S. Justice Department to review a local Florida prosecutor's interactions with police investigating the teen's shooting death, the family's lawyer said.
The Justice Department launched an investigation into Martin's death on March 19, but the family is now asking it to look for possible interference by State's Attorney Norm Wolfinger's office with Sanford, Florida, Police Detective Chris Serino, attorney Ben Crump said.
The Martin family will send a formal request to the Justice Department Monday, Crump told CNN Sunday.

To Trayvon's family - keep it going, keep demanding answers. Your dedication to Trayvon and his memory has gotten you this far, just keep it up. You have millions of people behind you supporting you. Trayvon will not be just another statistic. He will not have died in vain. God bless you!!

I cannot blame them for that at all they do deserve answers.
And IMHO the police department did NOT DO an investigation.
AN investigation is not 2 hours it can take weeks.
So WTF was that very quick decision...

Have any of the sound experts been able to determine what words the person is shouting?

Another problem that I have with this whole thing is that Zimmerman was trying to protect his neighborhood, yes? And make the people that lived in that neighborhood and their guests feel safe, yes? But on that night, because of Zimmerman's actions and his decision to not only follow Trayvon but to also follow Trayvon with a loaded gun, Zimmerman actually caused his neighbors to be fearfull. He, in my opinion, terrorized them himself. Below is a link to the 911 call that breaks my heart when I listen to it. This poor woman is beside herself, blames herself for not being able to do more for the young man that was killed. There was no reason at all for this to have happened. The police where on route, Zimmerman knew they were on route and could have and should have allowed them to handle it. He didn't and now not only is a young man dead, but Zimmerman's own neighbor now feels even less secure in her own home.

Many moons ago my husband was in training as a police officer in Virginia Beach. Our home was at the end of a secluded, deadend street with woods across the street and in the back. One night a young man male was pounding on my door for help while my husband was riding along with LE during his training. I called police and was told to stay on the phone as there had been a series of rapes in the area so I grabbed the rife from the wall rack and the shells from the drawer. As it turned out the man was being chased by a group of drunken white men in a pickup truck who wanted to beat the you know what out of him because he was walking down a dark road. He was instantly cleared by LE and I put the gun back. I knew the man was fine because my German Shepard got out, sniffed the man and then proceeded to chase every police officer back into their vehicles (and there were about 6 vehicles that showed up). My husband showed up in a panic immediately afterwards. Once things calmed down he walked over to the rack and took the gun down and opened it. He looked at me and said where are the shells? Sheepishly I replied, "in my pocket". He went ashen. Then I got the lecture of my life. He said when you point a gun at someone they can only assume you are prepared to use it and they are justified to kill you. I have barely touched a gun since.

I can clearly see both sides.....been there. Stay on the line is what you need to do if you fear for your life. Stay were you are if you feel safe. But never, never take the law into your own hands by going after someone when LE is one the way. You put the lives of others in danger. You put the police officers' lives in danger. It's there job, let them handle it. jmo

LE didn't even canvass the complex.

I don't know how well they could have been canvassing. The mother of the young boy who was a witness says that Police didn't seek to question him until March 2nd, she wasn't home at that time so they came back Margh 5th.

The shooting occurred Feb. 26, and Brown's son called 911 to report it at the time. But police didn't seek to question him until March 2, Brown said. She wasn't home, so they returned March 5, meaning eight days passed before police actually questioned a key eyewitness.
"I was waiting every day for someone to come knocking on the door," she said.

And we have yet another witness who says that police were attempting to lead them into saying something that supports GZ's claims

Once they did, Brown alleged, police tried to lead her son to agree to certain assertions, such as the race of the person on the ground and what he was wearing. But the boy stuck to his insistence that he couldn't make out either because it was too dark.

And the lead investigator, (can't recall his name the one who wanted GZ arrested?) tells her this was not self defense.

Brown alleged that the lead investigator "told me this was not self-defense," saying she should "read between the lines" because "this was racial stereotyping."

Pictures were sent to police so it appears they believed it to be stolen. As a parent I do know children can and do many things we are not made aware of.My own DS has told me many things he did that I never had a clue of even though I watched him like a hawk. I do believe we all are connected but I do not feel it is with bias if we want all the facts on both TM and GZ.

Yes, I'm well aware of the possibilities. I worked with first time juvenile offenders and at risk teenagers. I've seen quite a lot of parents in denial. I never was a parent that refused to believe my own kids wouldn't do whatever the other kids they ran with would do. It's why I was VERY diligent to keep them busy with good activities and around other awake and aware parents.

The school apparently followed their own protocol and sent pics of the jewelry to LE. None has been found to be a match for stolen jewelry. Does this mean that it is positively NOT stolen? Of course not. But to choose to believe it positively IS stolen is revealing a huge BIAS, imo.

We see posters here at Websleuths daily make comments about sizing up whether a person is a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 or not based on whether they are DRESSED to this person's comfort level. I'm just trying to help people realize where bias is involved and where it is NOT involved in logical reasoning.

We do not know many things in this case. We do know GZ's own words. We DO know Trayvon is dead by GZ's handgun. There is much Information yet to be released, and that is ONLY because third parties had to get involved to FORCE an investigation. No matter what the outcome of Trayvon's case, THAT should never happen again.

I had no idea he had a criminal history, but he rubbed me the wrong way. His defense of GZ was so vague. And Joe O. seemed to be defending a person he hadn't talked to for a while.

All JMO, IMO, MOO :truce:

Bad of me to quote myself, but I will.

The reason FT rubbed me the wrong way was also because he kept trying to blame a dead teenager. I will look for the links. He also was so adamant that GZ could do no wrong. That Trayvon was at fault for having the gall to walk in the rain. I wouldn't want GZ in my neck of the woods because he is not trustworthy in my opinion to be carrying a gun with an attitude. Just look at GZ's quotes from his own call to the non emergency #.

BBM

He didn't think this was a life or death situation or he would have driven away from the kid with candy and tea and called 911. GZ chose what happened that evening. That night GZ chose to follow a kid because these @$$holes always get away. He chose this. Not me, not Trayvon, not GZ's family or friends. GZ chose to be one of those.......

If they have, they haven't stated so. All they are able to determine at this point is that it is NOT Zimmerman who is screaming.

He told the police it belonged to a friend. he would not tell them who.
So there are no what ifs...
If I had anything in my locker that I can say, Oh yes I got this at that store,
or from so and so. HIDING IS HIDNG and often because the truth will get you in deep water.

I am not a good enabler.

It was in his backpack, TM tagged a locker. Backpacks in school are always subject to a search. No arrest and no suspension for having those items on him just suspended for tagging. Sounds as if the school resolved the issue and found TM had done nothing wrong. How do you HIDE stuff in school??? In this day and age it seems that would be the last place you would want to hide something.... No arrest, no crime. It's a dead end and a dead issue. jmo

Maybe because they took GZ to the station in handcuffs and assumed that they would arrest him. They took him in handcuffed not like some HERO.
If this is such a racist police deptatment...why didn't they just shake his hand and send him home. They handcuffed him and took him in!

Maybe the evidence and the facts under Fla law did not support an arrest. Lookhow long Casey Anthony swanned around...and millions of taxpayer dollars later, she's free as a bird because the jury did not think the evidence sufficent.

He had the jewelry in his backpack ,TM said it was not his and his mom said she knew nothing about it.If it was his why would he say it was a friend who he refused to identify? If it was his from his room his mom would know.,she would have seen it.IMO
If you can not tell the truth there is a reason.
Often not a good reason at all.

Like I once told one of my friends boyfriends (we were young back then :))
when he asked me why dont you ever see my point?
And I said
If you cant tell her where you were, then maybe you should not have been there.

Not everyone has the luxury of a fast PD response time. This especially applies to people in rural areas. What if this person manages to get inside your house and has more nefarious intentions than escape from some people chasing him? Most states now have castle laws that allow defense of habitation. If they wind up making it inside your house, you have every right to use deadly force.

I have no idea if this is a racist police department or incompetent or badly resourced or what but it seems like serious mistakes were made in the investigation.

IMO evidence is never going to support anything unless you do a proper, thorough investigation and gather said evidence.
