Seriously? I have a ton of black friends (young and old) and NO ONE says "Homie" anymore... I'm in FL too so I'm having a hard time believing this account of the "facts"

LOL, my German and black female friend says "homie." And I always ask her WHHHHY? lol

I don't know anyone else that says it.

(of course, not saying it's not possible)

Does anyone think that a potential and probable lawsuit of the homeowners association might effect the memory of the witnesses? And I don't mean outright lie, I mean be less sure of what they remember on the stand.

What kind of lawsuit?

  • #523
Not necessarily. Responding officers did move the body around because they were administering CPR. It doesn't look like his feet are more than 4-5 feet away from the concrete, which would be consistent with him falling backwards from off of Zimmerman. JMO

Wait, what?

If he fell backwards from off Zimmerman, why was he found facedown?

It's in the police report. Facedown with his hands under him.

Was that the acting chief or the one who has temporarily stepped down?

The one who temporarily stepped down.. The one I'm hoping gets canned..JMHO

I haven't seen anything that really discredits her. LE needs to discredit her because she called them out.

Just like the 13 year boy's mother who says that police attempted to lead her son into changing his account of what happened that night to support GZ.
She called them out on it too.

Then we have Trayvon's family who says police lied to them.

Seems to be a pattern here by police.

JMHO

What in her story fits with that of what other witnesses describe? She says she heard crying. I can hear loud screams on 911 calls. And witnesses who actually saw the fight did not see anyone run before the shot.

That letter is signed by Bonaparte, City Manager

ETA: I have never known anyone with the last name, Bonaparte, except Napoleon and I didn't know him personally, lol.

LOL ! Me too !!

In the Washington post article I linked , Police to Tracy Martin that Trayvon Appeared behind a building in George Zimmerman's gated community. So why was he behind a building if he supposedly was almost home?

Then came the second encounter, according to Tracy Martin’s recollection of the detective’s account. Trayvon Martin appeared from behind a building in Zimmerman’s gated community, approached him and demanded, “What’s your problem, homie?”

IMHO..I'm thinking LE lied BIG TIME to Trayvon's father...JMHO

What kind of lawsuit?

Talking heads on tv were saying TM's family could sue the hoa because GZ was representing the hoa for neighborhood watch. Something around that focus.

I find it a bit interesting that TM's father called LE (juvenile then regular) to see if his son had been "picked up", rather than calling hospitals, for instance.

TM's father may or may not have known this, but he could have called hospitals until the cows came home and none of them would have given him any info due to HIPAA.

It would not surprise me one bit :moo:

I've always believed people lied for their own gain?? Unless they are sociopaths, of course.

OK, so what did these two have to gain by lying?

Disclaimer: a rhetorical question thrown out to the group at large.

IMO No one is trying to make TM look bad.The truth needs to come out ,the whole truth. As you can see when people hide things if does make others wonder why.Not only the family but also all media went with a picture of GZ that makes him look 100lbs more then he is.Between the 2 photos a true representation of both parties was not given.JMO

I think the point that has been made over and over is that NOTHING prior to this event and NOTHING after this event was at all involved in the actions of this event itself. These two people made the choices and did what they did. So what if a picture makes GZ look heavier? He was what he was when this event happened. Trayvon was what he was when this event happened. It doesn't matter if they show you a picture of Trayvon at 6 months wearing diapers. It doesn't matter if they show a picture of GZ in a tux at his senior prom. What happened is what happened. What anyone had in their kitchen pantry, what color shoes they wore, whether they were vegetarian or not, ALL these things are as irrelevant as pictures shown AFTER the shooting. The events that took place are all that counts when it comes to accountability.

That sounds like dialogue from a bad TV script. From your link:

During the beating, Zimmerman pulled his gun and fired one shot at close range into Martin’s chest. “You got me,” the teenager said, falling backward.

Tracy Martin and the 17-year-old’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, said Wednesday that they have never accepted this explanation for their son’s death.

“That was bull,” Tracy Martin said. “No way. At that point, I knew there was something terribly wrong.” The Sanford Police Department said in a statement Wednesday that it will no longer answer questions from the news media.

How do you know this to be true? How do you or I know he didn't call every person he knew and every hospital in the area???
According to what I read he thought Trayvon was bored and went to hang out with his cousin.....

Because it's called being deceptive.

I think this would be a last ditch effort to get SOME kind of justice for Trayvon if they actually pursue this... IMO

Because he says he had his son's GF call the juvi center to see if he was there.

Well, this kind of pressure and leverage certainly works to get people's focused attention. Its a powerful leverage

This is somewhat what I think will happen from talk of Sanford businesses being boycotted. See, if the people in Sanford have always known their police department was this incompetent and they just shrugged it off, but now there's a possibility their complacency may cost them real money, you have their attention. I wonder how many business owners have ALREADY made their calls and pulled whatever strings they have to pull behind the scenes to effect change since the mere suggestion of boycotting was mentioned. It's terrible that people who have power to bring about change won't do it until they feel someone's hand in their pockets, but there it is. It is what it is. And whatever it takes to get the job done. Boycotts, along with protests, are not illegal. This would be legal leverage.

Homeowners might be on hook in civil action in Trayvon Martin's death

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/os-trayvon-martin-hoa-20120329,0,6506594.story?obref=obinsite

The people who could end up paying the financial price for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin are, ultimately, the homeowners of the Retreat at Twin Lakes development in Sanford, experts say.

If their crime-watch program captain George Zimmerman gets charged with and convicted of killing Trayvon, the community's homeowner association and property-management company will likely be sued by the victim's family regarding the way the watch program was established and operated, said Donna Berger, a lawyer who specializes in homeowner-association law.

"They may wind up getting sued and getting hit with hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees and damages," said Berger, who works with the South Florida law firm Katzman, Garfinkel and Berger. "Who will pay is every member of the association, and they will have to make special assessments. ... It's a cautionary tale for other associations."

Apart from her saying he was standing, what else in her story doesn't add up to you?
She's also said she heard whines or whimpers, not screaming. And no sounds of a fight. We have another witness (the anonymous witness from the AC360 interview that directly contradicts this, and was even farther away than she purports to be). We also have 911 callers that claim they heard screaming, and we even have screaming up until the gunshot that is recorded on these tapes.

She only went outside for a few seconds after the gunshot, yet her story seems to be aligned in a certain way. She seems to speculate a lot based on seeing and hearing very little.
