You make it sound so simple. It's all so simple.

Yep, sitting there listening to a self serving apology from the man who killed your son. Simple. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

He said he told the officer that night that he was sorry. But if it wasn't recorded on a report somehow, it doesn't matter.

BTW, any defense attorney will tell you not to contact the victims family in the early going.

BBM - and I disagree. Hense, GZ's memory problems on the stand today. It's a little soon to play the I don't recall. Guess he did this in his interviews when he story wasn't believed. Shocking. :floorlaugh:

I expected him not to take the stand at all. That was a feeble and gratuitous apology, forced on TMs parents when they clearly stated they didn't want to hear from him.

It was not forced on them.
They were not forced to listen to it.

And they have said they wanted a public apology. Nothing more public than a hearing with live feed nation wide.

I believe Zimmerman himself is only 28.
So the oldest teen would be 19 so you think 9 years is just a little younger? that is 1/3 of George's lifetime.

and yet again why does O'Mara need to run out and jump right in front of the cameras?

This occurred in a court of law. GZ is the defendant. GZ has the right to be heard, or have his lawyer speak for him. Anyone who doesn't want to hear from GZ should consider avoiding the courtroom. Justice is when both sides are heard, not just one and not just what one side wants to hear. Just think of the horrors Dr. Petit had to sit through! That's our system, like it or not.

That night.

Dispatcher: Ok
GZ: He's got his hand in his waistband. Yeah, he's a black male
Dispatcher: Ok, how old would you say he is
GZ: He's got a button on his shirt
He's late teens
Dispatcher: Late teens, ok

I thought he was just a little younger then me.

I thought that didn't make sense at but now thinking about it maybe he meant that once the fight started and when he pulled the trigger he thought Trayvon was older that what he first thought from seeing him at a distance.

What would you have him do? Run away and hide? I mean, some of these accusations are getting to be absurd.

There is one indisputable fact: If GZ had not initiated a surveillance of a teenager who was walking home from 7-11 and talking to his gf on the phone and if he had not followed Trayvon...no "scuffle" would have ensued and no unarmed teenager would have died there that night.

A "scuffle" is also a lot different from a "head bashing."

Maybe someone can clearify..but isnt "Indigent Status" only kicks in when the defense requires fund in order cover their expenses and Not to cover their bond.

Actually being out on bond will save some costs to the taxpayers to keep him in protective custody..so let the family and friends clothe, feed and pay his way for now :fence:

  • #593
Oh my, GZ will make bond that is low IMO.
Hope this case doesn't open up a can of worms for all
cases of hot heads in jail for shooting a person to death!

The judge allowed the prosecutor to ask the question, and get an answer, and when asked if he remembered an email to Martin's father, he said no he didn't recall it. At that point, the Pros basically sat back down, without pursuing it although I don't think there were any objections to that questioning.

What was that about? Was it implied that GZ sent an email to Martin's father and he said no he doesn't remember?

agreed....

and wow, everyone would be up in arms if he hadn't used the opportunity to apologize. no matter what he does it will be ripped apart.

It's when and where he did it! I would be interested in how many charged criminals have taken to the stand to apologize to the victim's family...then made excuse after excuse for killing their child. Pitiful.

I will take bets his "apology" is not on one LE tape on in any statement. CYA = GZ.

Watched the hearing. Thought GZ was self-serving and insincere. It was totally inappropriate for the time and place. Thought the bail was set too low.

If asked on the stand, he'll probably say that when he saw him up close he thought he was older (as opposed to when he first called LE).

About the picture: I'm not an expert on head wounds by far but I've seen quite a few...and they either didn't bleed or bled profusely .....I have never seen blood on any wound for that matter just stop flowing, how is that even possible? especially in the rain, the rain would mix with the blood....
The "apology" was absolutely horrible IMO the least he could have done is fake empathy since he's unable to show actual emotion.....to say "he thought Trayvon was just a little younger than him" IMO was a HUGE mistake....doesn't that show pre-meditation????what is he saying,he had time to think whether or not the person was old enough to be shot????what,it would have been ok if Trayvon would have been a little older?
