So, I guess I'm a little confused here, when GZ stated on the 911 call (the one where the 911 operator tells GZ we do not need for you to do that) GZ says "they always get away", GZ is following Trayvon at the time, and then GZ stops following Trayvon (?) So how, where, when why did they meet up again? I'm thinking GZ never stopped following Trayvon, (I think GZ just stopped running), which is why he wanted LE to just call him when they got there, GZ did not know where he would be????

The question was - "how is MOM playing games with Crump?' Your response has nothing to do with MOM and Crump interacting. It is all about a smearing MOM.

O'Mara said he was pulling all of GZ's websites as he didn't want him to have any internet presence and two days later makes two new websites for GZ to collect "Defense Fund Money." And who gets the majority of that money...M O'Mara and his firm, that's who.

O'Mara said he didn't want a media circus or for this case to be tried in the media yet almost everyday, since he has come on this case, he has been on one network or another speaking about how his client feels, what TM's family is doing, what TM's parent's Lawyer says and does...

And this is less than one month in...(End Qoute)

Facts are facts. The intent is just to keep track of the fancy footwork and to show that what is being done is fairly transparent to anyone who is really paying attention.

Then people who use facebook and twitter get a pass on not sleuthing minors? I missed that. And because of facebook and twitter it doesn't matter what falls out of O'Mara's mouth? So it is all the fault of social media?

Afaik, there is no rule against the general public "sleuthing" minors. And yes, I would say that the widespread availability of her information to the public is a function of the internet and social media, including her own participation. As I said, it was all out there and then some before O'Mara even got to court that morning. So no...in terms of any potential harm to the minor, it does not matter at all what O'Mara said in court -- regardless of whether you believe it was a slip or not. jmo

Thank you.

True story: I was working a case where we were defending a large and wealthy corporation against the State of New Jersey. (This was not an instance of a little guy without the resources to fight the system.)

I overheard one of our lawyers in the next cubicle say, "This prosecutor is really scummy." And knowing what I knew of my employers, I started laughing out loud.

After a moment, the same lawyer said over the divide, "Okay, we're scummy, too. But not as scummy as HE is!"

The truth is both parties were probably decent people. I know "my" lawyers were. But they were in the heat of battle and looking for every advantage.

Well, MOM has plenty of time to redeem himself. lol Let's see how fast he bounces back. Personally I think MOM has his hands full with GZ. jmo

I truly believe MOM may not have known about the money. But I do think GZ knew and I believe his family were aware of money come in also. Maybe not the exact amount but it would have been easy for them to check before the bond hearing. IMO one of the members of the family may be quite aware of how the game is played. It will be interesting to see if the majority of that money was from an interview. But that is JMO.

GZ was sitting in jail. So the only way he would know if somebody who was administering this account told him. I don't think that internet access is available in jail?

He had a phone card, you can call and get your balance from paypal.

OK, I've given it some more thought and I think I get it now.

Sleuthing Crump's presentation of the GF ≠ sleuthing GF.

Am I the only one who thinks we are starved for new information?

We've been debating slips of the tongue and an expression of condolence that wasn't an apology for days now...

Perhaps "world of public opinion" is vastlly overstating who, aside from the Judge, believe MOM did actually slip the name by accident. I, for one, and I don't think I am alone, believe it was an accident.

not in the world of public opinion and in my opinion I think it was wrong!

Well I don't know. Nobody ever donated anything into my paypal account.:tears:

Haha! I didn't even notice. And it's a VERY good day when that's the worst thing that happens to me lol. Thanks :)

Folks, we're trying to set up some parameters for the discussion of the girlfriend as far as the TIMELINE of events. Please hold off on any discussion of it until we get those parameters in place. There will be no sleuthing of the girlfriend, but we are interested in the timeline of her phone call with Trayvon.

Thank you and please be patient.

Apples and oranges. Most defense lawyers make a lot of money. Most murder defendants do not make a lot of money in donations.

jenny, I don't believe most defense attorneys make "a lot of money". It's just that the ones we see on TV are very successful, handle high profile cases and can charge high fees.

Here's a site with some figures:

http://www.ehow.com/info_7834484_average-salary-criminal-defense-attorney.html

The average yearly income for a defense attorney in Florida is just over $80K. That's very much in line with other jobs that require advanced degrees, including engineers and college professors.

(Graduates from the best schools can often find jobs that start at over $100K. Partners in large firms can make $500K to several million per year, but we're talking about the most elite.)

I'm sure Mr. O'Mara makes very good money. But he won't necessarily get $400/hour once his client is indigent and the judge is setting "reasonable fees and expenses". And out of his hourly rate, O'Mara pays a secretary, a law clerk and others, and maintains an office with all its costs. I'm not saying we should cry for him, but most defense attorneys make far less per hour and still have similar expenses.

We need "food for thought." lol

That bag had to be filled with all the stuff he bought while in jail! He bought a LOT of junk food that first night. If he'd eaten all of it while in jail, he would have needed that larger size of underwear and would have filled out his suit better at the bond hearing. :floorlaugh:

IMO, JMO, etc.

The bail bondsman was carrying one filled paper sack and another that looked like a diaper bag. I couldn't help wondering why GZ wasn't carrying his own possessions. I just carried more groceries than those three bags, all at once, up two flights of stairs. Oh, and I weigh less than GZ did on the day he was arrested.

No, it is not in my opinion, she did not say she would ask him that period. She was capable of saying I would ask when she stated what she would ask him.

If you were to come face to face with George Zimmerman, what do you want to tell him? What do you want to ask him?

Sybrina: Um, one of the things that I still believe in, a person should apologize when they're really, when they're actually remorseful for what they've done. Um, I believe that it was a(n) accident, I believe that uh, it just got out of control, and he couldn't turn the clock back.

Um, I would ask him: Did he know that that was a minor? That that was a teenager, and that he did not have a weapon?

Um, I would ask him, that I understand that his family is hurting, but think about our family, that lost our teenage son; I mean it's just very difficult to live with day in and day out. Um, I'm sure that his parents can pick up the phone and call him, but we can't pick up the phone and call Trayvon any more.

BTW, FYI, FWIW:

My OP (which you are quoting here in part) was in response to someone dissing GZ for offering only condolences for the loss of her son, and not an apology. ---> My post was intended to point out that she got what she asked for -- which was NOT an apology, but rather condolences and the answers to the two questions. JMO

A snip from my OP:

A statement like "I am sorry I shot your son" would unfortunately be used unfairly to attack his self-defense defense. I believe GZ feels terrible about what happened, and respectfully gave the victim's mother exactly what she asked for, without sacrificing himself to a possible life in prison for something he claims he didn't to: commit murder.

Nevertheless, be it my opinion and yours as well, it is still an opinion; an interpretation as to whether or not she intended to answer the question with a request for an apology. We're just guessing, as we don't have Sybrina here to ask. JMO

BBM. No, no it does not prove that. All it proves is her claim that she was on the phone with Martin at that time. She is not an expert to testify as to Martin's state of mind. She did not witness Zimmerman approaching Martin.

I disagree, they need the phone call testimony because that testimony puts a state of mind on TM. It also proves that GZ approached him.
If the phone call doesn't get on, IMO you have a very small chance at conviction, especially 2nd degree.
