It the tape were being used to hold the hands, wouldn't the ends of the tape be stuck together like a bracelet when it slid off?

Because of all the animal activity it is hard to say how the tape was used, except that it came incontact with the shirt and fringe hair. jmo

Yes, and was the ONLY piece that had no head hair.
I don't think it is possible to PROVE the exact purpose of Q104.
Maybe not prove, but perhaps logically deduce the most reasonable explanation given the other circumstances?
Just FYI- Q104 had other colored fibers on it (blue, off-white, opaque black and grey brown).
The blue and red fibers have shown up on several items though. For example, according to my notes, red fibers were on Q26 debris from trunk and Q54 vacuumings of spare tire wheel well. I mentioned the red fibers because that connection to the trunk may be important.

Harmony - I wondered about this. Could fibers from the trunk liner have stuck to parts of the tape?
Thanks for this post! These are also the same colors in the WTP blanket as shown on pg 2 of that thread. Although I wasn't able to see red on the blankets . . . makes me wonder if the Q104 contains fibers from the WTP blanket but also KC may have had a red shirt that we are not aware of. This could account for the red fibers on this piece of duct tape but also red fibers in the trunk. Just postulating . . . .
Being half-helpful here, FWIW, since I'm in a bit of a rush. I'm sure someone has it handy to source.
But, IIRC, the fibers on the tape were natural fibers (i.e. wool and/or cotton). Trunk fibers, IMHO, will not be natural fibers. They will most likely be synthetic fibers (i.e. nylon, etc.)
IIRC, someone speculated above re: the plaid blanket, in addition to the WTP blanket. These would seem to be decent candidates for natural fibers (among many other things, of course). Just pointing out the car interior fibers are highly unlikely to be natural fibers. HTH.

BJB, I must be missing something . . . I don't remember hearing anything about a plaid blanket. Could you elaborate? Finding fibers on the duct tape was amazing considering the elements these fibers had to endure. I think this is a big piece of the missing links to the whole picture.

I've been working on getting all the facts listed in the reports (specs, types & colors of fabrics, hairs, etc...) compiled so we could all easily reference it in one place (the constant digging through 1400+ pgs of one doc dump is too much to have to go through everytime we try to find something). Then we can narrow down what objects these fibers might have originated from. It is a work in progress -I started it early last night & thought it would go faster than it has. Hopefully I will have it together soon.
FYI, when considering how far around Caylee's skull these pieces of duct tape around 8-9 inches long would go...
Take a look at this photo of Caylee (#55):

On another thread, I asked how long the Mr. Potato Head mouth was. ElenaS responded that it is 2 inches exactly from point to point on the top lip, and looks just as big on her 2 1/2 year old daughter's face as it did on Caylee's.
And this replica of a 2-3 year old skull is 6 1/2" Long, 4 1/2" Wide, 5 1/4" High:

So...8-9" would go around...um...to me this speaks of premed...because I envision rage at being 3" strips...not wrapped around...
