I agree, I thought TM's audio tape was pretty much what blew Donna's cover, at least for me. If he had kept his mouth shut I'd still be wondering about her, I suppose.

But I'm not sure about the timing of the text message Misty allegedly got warning her about Donna. Was it before or after Tim's audio was released? If it was before it and Misty had already called it quits, TM might have felt there was no cover to blow any more, in regards to Misty.
The text message was when Misty and Donna were in NYC for the CBS show, because it was reported that Misty pounded on Donna's door and was very angry with her. This would have been before Tim's public statements. We don't know if Donna could have calmed Misty down and restored her trust, given enough time. However, after Misty heard Tim's audio, there was probably no chance that Donna could have restored the friendship. If Tim hadn't said anything, then there may have still been a possibility.

Is there a reason to assume Donna didn't tell Tim she admitted it to Misty upon being confronted?

Certainly not before someone paid for her to go to NYC with Misty, she didn't!

Right. My point is, why assume Tim Miller blew Donna's cover?

It makes more sense to me that Donna admitted it after she was confronted by the angry Misty who had just gotten the text message from Ron. KWIM?

Admitted what? That Donna told Misty that being nice to Misty was a setup by Tim and that he was paying expenses so Donna could spy on her? I can't imagine Donna would have been so stupid to admit this! Misty already knew that Donna was a TES member, so if Donna had any sense whatsoever she would have made some excuses and downplayed any involvement by Tim and emphasized her own concern for Misty.

ETA - Same with Ron's text message. Donna could have said that he was being overly suspicious. Remember, Misty has very little left as a support system and probably would have believed Donna, had Donna said the right words.

I find it much more reasonable to assume Donna was "stupid enough" (I wouldn't use that phrase) to admit it to Misty with her there confronting her with it to her face, than to assume Tim Miller would have been "stupid enough to" just up and volunteer it for public consumption.

Well, if Donna's the type to flick random people off on a highway she might not always think things through before acting and if Misty took her by surprise she might have slipped something even if she's not stupid.

It's also possible that Misty may have observed something that seemed a bit suspicious to her and the text message just confirmed it.

I agree that may have been a poor choice of words! How about if I rephrase it to say I think Donna would have been smart enough to mitigate the situation somewhat so it would have been more acceptable to Misty? (I should remember to always us the positive approach and not the negative.)

I know that I have opened my mouth and inserted my foot at times, as many of us have, and since Tim Miller is human, I suspect he is liable to as well. It doesn't mean that he is not a good man and doesn't do some amazing work!

The only point I was making (and maybe not very well) is that if Tim hadn't spoken up publically and stated his involvement, Donna may or may not have been able to salvage her friendship with Misty. We don't know for sure, of course. But we do know that now that Tim has spoken up, it pretty much ended Misty's trust in Donna.

Exactly. Until we have reason to believe Donna was more cautious than Tim, it would seem most reasonable and fair to assume Tim kept quiet until Donna let him know it was hopeless because she couldn't maintain the ruse.

Regardless, my main concern isn't about what Tim or Donna might have done to blow her cover, but why the heck Ron wanted Misty to know Donna was there to get info from her. :waitasec:

Curious who is the one putting out there that Ron allegedly texted Misty?

And this is the problem with someone who is NOT law enforcement, interjecting themselves into an undercover operation. LE is trained for this kind of thing... Tim Miller is not. Neither is Donna.
Also, what IF Misty had spilled the beans on somebody to Donna? Unless they can convince her to go to LE and make a statement, that information would not even be admissable in court, much less be enough to get an indictment or a warrant for their arrest.
I have a great deal of respect for Tim Miller. But some of this stuff is just a little strange to me. And none of it has brought Haleigh home.

I agree wholeheartly with your post TxLady. I've heard a lot of wonderful, glowing comments about Miller's devotion to finding lost children. But, I am very surprised he would take this upon himself to operate what amounts to an "undercover" operation. He spent a lot of time and money in a scheme that amounted to nothing more than a few exciting headlines. Haleigh is still missing and Misty's still not talking. I'm puzzled why he would try this. Does anyone know, has Miller done something like this before? I'm not that familiar with his background.

Because of his history, which does deserve so much respect, I see no reason for everyone to assume he wasn't doing this with LE's tacit approval. :sheesh:

Just because they couldn't officially or publicly use him does not mean they couldn't let him know that his plan was welcome by them.

(BTW, There is no reason to think nothing Misty told Donna would be of value, nor that Donna couldn't have testified to whatever she was told by Misty.)

I'm not so much taken aback with TM allegedly interjecting himself into this case as much as I have to admit I'm very taken aback by members here at WS that actually contact major players in this case. That to me is shocking. To me that is interjecting. JMHO.

I can't remember their screennames and it's not my intention to call them out ~ I just wanted to comment that I find it unsettling to say the least. JMHO.

I thought that was against the rules @ WS?
