2009.11.06 Forensic Entomology Report Released #2

Maybe the defense's "bug guy" has been promised a fancy new Lab named after him, or, his very own "bug farm" in Nebraska; under the table of course.......
I think he was mislead into agreeing to take the case and will tell the truth on the stand.

Dr Haskells report has been peer reviewed by 2 of his impressive peers. Has the defense experts findings been peer reviewed I wonder or is it 3 experts to 1? Kudos to them as professionals for setting themselves these standands.

According to link above, Dr TH, as a board-certified forensic entomologist, regularly consults "with various law enforcement agencies as well as private attorneys from across the country and the world on a wide variety of cases."

Has anyone found out if Dr Haskell and Dr TH had been on opposite sides in a trial before? Has there been an acquittal in any of the cases?

I haven't read the entomology report for a long time. I just reread it, caught a big error on my part and it is too late to edit my earlier posts. 15 adult coffin flies WERE recovered from the trash bag by Dr. Haskell in Rensselaer, IN. They were initially identified by family type by Dr. Haskell who sent them on to Dr. Brian Brown. Dr. Brown identified the adult flies as Megaselia scalaris or coffin flies.

We LOVE that kind of mistake - don't we?:waitasec:

We know she must have opened the trunk at some time. Or am I off point again? Trunk/Garbage bag - splitting hairs here.

I wonder what KC was wearing to dunp the body clean her trunk and where those clothes are now.

I think it is easy money for him. The state is guaranteeing his getting paid, regardless of whether the defense likes his report or not. And if the defense doesn't like his report, well its just a day or two's testimony fees that he would lose, at state mandated local rates. So not a huge loss.

It won't be a matter of telling the truth. If JB and company don't like his report results than he will never see the stand or the courtroom. Not alot of room to or need to lie there. About the only thing that the defense might use him for is to try and cast some doubt about the specifics of the prosecution bug experts. i.e. was there anything in the entemology evidence that directly ties the insects to the victim Caylee Marie Anthony? Was her DNA found with the insects? Were the insects found directly in a location or property known to be directly related to the victim or defendent (as opposed to a trash bag behind a tow yard).

Granted this is where the jury has to apply the "reasonable" portion of the phrase "reasonable Doubt". So many lawyers, juries, and Matlock watching civilians forget that the standard is not "any doubt".

I believe it was Grey Wool slacks, found in the back of the car, covered in mud and smelling of death, that were immediately and repeatedly laundered by CA as soon as GA and CA got the car home.

Am I misremembering that piece of it all.Cindy and Georges obsessive cleaning habits just went to work to clean that gunk and that smell...oopsie!

Tks faefrost! They did tie the bugs directly to the victim per the report I think. On pages 21-23 of the link Muzikman provided is the discussion of the bugs and larvae found with the remains being consistant with those from the trunk and then he explains why. I can't copy it from docstock but is that enough to dispell doubt?

No that's correct. She washed them because they smelled like the car IIRC but no mention of any shirt that I remember.
I'm just having great difficulty conceiving of attempting to clean up a decomposing body from your car and then leaving the clothes you wore and towels you used, in the car after you're finished. Throw in the fact she drove around with her deceased daughter in the wheel well and it's almost an argument for insanity IMO
I fully believe ICA to be guilty of premeditated murder. I'm just shocked at how poorly planned her plan was I guess.

Hindsight's a wonderful thing so makes it specially interesting to go back and listen to comments made by Dr Huntington (around 5.50sec) just 3 days after Caylee's remains were found. The entomologist talks about the importance of getting to examine evidence as soon as possible, as he puts it, "in context". Even for me, that's a no brainer. But, then it occurred to me that up until this point only Henry Lee had looked at the car. From the information available, we have recently learned that Dr Huntington or might be Baez declined an offer to examine evidence, alongside Dr Haskel and that the first time Dr Huntington reviewed anything relating to the death mobile was July this year, whilst at OCSD. We later learned from Baez, that he was unable to achieve what he wanted, as he didnt have the correct microscope/s with him. Hello.... If I'm wrong about this, could someone please let me know.

Now, if this is so, I'm not blaming the good doctor, we know Baez sat on his hands for nearly two years, but was this year's visit to OCSD the first time Dr Huntington looked at the car trunk/ trash bag and the insects recovered therein? If so, would imo make Dr Huntington more than a bit vulnerable to a savvy prosecutor......should ,we ever have a battle of the bug men. I'm not suggesting it will happen , just asking for your thoughts about what seems to be an absurd time lapse and the concerns, Dr Huntington expresses in this 2008 video.

:banghead:
Mason is freaking unbelieveable. So what, evidence is or isn't there if only YOU say so? If there's something different, you're in shock, like that person made it up? They couldn't possible be right and you be the wrong one? What a jerk! Yeah, bring that attitude at trial, please do! I really can't STAND Mason. He's starting to outshine Baez in this defense team for biggest you know what. Sheesh.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! :)
:woohoo:

This guy makes me SICK! He is rude, obnoxious and says the most ridiculous things!!! So then these bugs that WERE there, weren't there!?!? Riiiiight! You go with that Cheney! PATHETIC!!! JMO :banghead:

Remember also that Ricardo woke early one morning (when TonE was out of town and Casey was crashing with Amy) and found Casey doing laundry. He thought it curious at the time. Betcha she was washing some stinky clothes that she didn't want to be noticed by any of her friends.

I've read most of this thread, but still I am not clear as to whether any new info has come out that shows Caylee's DNA was directly found in any of these bugs.

Welcome Ontarian! :) Nothing has been released linking Cayless DNA to the bugs but living bugs of the same genus as those found in the trunk and trash were found in the bag with her remains.

I think CM is mincing words. We have not heard anything from TH, only CM. The bugs don't lie.

BBM. OMG! I so want to make a t-shirt that says that!!!! You natives should so do that and then wear it to court when the bug experts are up! lol.

Yes, but that's coming from Mason and therefore means absolutely nothing. I want to hear that directly from Dr. Huntington if that's who it is. It seems to be the name people are throwing around and because Mason didn't mention the experts name it could simply mean he couldn't remember it.

I think both Mason and Baez took an affirmation course - if you say something often enough then it becomes true. :slap:

Wouldn't that be the Cindy Anthony School of Affirmation? I swear she perfected that first.

I watched some of the videos on the you tube videos after the bug expert.
The ones with Lee and Casey. Lee was concerned with her legal rep JB and told her they had corresponded with her. Casey said she never received anything from them from JB but he did give her a letter from the Dr Phil show. I know this is OT but it is quite funny after all this time it all fits in with her legal team and their perpensity for media..
Lee pretty much told her to proceed on her own with her search as much as she could not just TRUST JB. On the other hand Casey knew full well she was not going to move forward with her search on her own so JB fit the bill totally as far as she was concerned. Rewatching makes me just want to scream. Poor Cayley!!!!

Don't know much about bugs except for the skitters and black flies here in Ontario but know a snake in the grass when I see one. i.e. JB,DC,GA,CA,CM,LB,AL,LKB,LA,AF,DS and of course ICA. Probably missed a few, apologies. IMHO

I couldn't agree more !!! I think all of the above deserve to be placed on The WEBSLEUTHS Wall Of Shame for what they are doing to the memory of our sweet little Caylee.
