2010.04.24 The Laundry Revisited and GGM Sykes Visit.

The sitting on the porch eating without shirts would not bother me because my neice did that with her toddler triplets. When it was colder, they ate in the kitchen. She did it because it was easier to clean. The clothes did not have stains, wash cloth to the kids and hose to the patio.

So either they ate with their shirts on and needed stains removed or they took them off so they would not have stains.

In February, it gets cold in northern Florida after dark. Not just occasionally, but regularly year in and year out. These are some misc. images from the days and evenings immediately after Haleigh disappeared. Notice that every person in every image has a coat or jacket/sweater on:

I don't believe a word saying these children were on the porch in this weather eating canned ravioli, shirts on or off.

FWIW - I think the washer was running info did not come from LE but was something possibly stated by Cobra at one point. Heck if I know where that info comes from.

I've wondered about this every time I've seen it posted, and can't find where LE ever stated the washing machine was running. So is it rumor or fact? Unless this info came directly from LE, it's simply an unconfirmed rumor, IMO.

I realize that about the cold. I was just pointing out that the two were not consistent. The only reason to eat with shirts off is to avoid getting food on them and staining them. That would show Misty was concerned about stains. So then why would GGma Sykes need to wash the clothes to get the stains out?

My ex SIL is a horrible mother and most of the time when her kids lived with her-they had no clean clothes at all and would have to wear dirty ones to school. It even went so far that the boys would have to wear the girl's underwear b/c it was the only clean stuff and they'd wear the girl's socks too.

I can't understand a huge rush to have Haleigh have clean clothes for school. She had to have some that would've sufficed until someone could've washed them for her. 5 year olds get messy, but there had to be something she could've worn. Why run the washer at 3 in the morning? That's so odd to me. I can't think of a good reason for that.

Even when my kids get a bloody nose or throw up in their beds at night, I change their bedding, then leave the dirty stuff to wash up until the next morning. Makes no sense to me.... I hope LE thoroughly investigated that.

Hi Daisy, I suppose it's one of those questions of whom you're asking. IMO it's unconfirmed rumor. I believe Misty did wash that night or she said she did wash the pee blanket. Somewhere there's been a jump to the washer was running when LE got there. I don't believe LE has ever stated this.

Point well taken with your post! Perhaps, GGS knows Misty was not responsible enough to care for the children, and therefore her grandson is responsible for leaving the kids under M's less than competent care. Misty, knowing GGS's a stickler for spotless clothes on the kids, and the work it takes to remove sauce (can of ravioli) stains, leaves the kids with no shirts on because her goal is to stay on GGS's good side. GGSs, on her laundry drop-off/check-up on Misty, sees the kids w/no shirts on a chilly evening (not really a surprise to GGS), probably said something to the effect of, Get some shirts on those kids!

Also, GGMS in the past has stated it was sometime between 7:00 and 8:00 pm that she was there... In one interview I even recall her stating it was closer to 8:00pm..
The other night she claims it was 7:30..
Misty claims she fixed dinner ( Chef Boy R Dee ) ravioli at 6:00 pm.. And how long does that take to fix?

I don't believe even IF GGMS was there, she went there to drop off any clothes.. And I certainly don't believe she saw Haleigh eating any dinner that night either...JMO

I was curious about where the washer running when LE got there story originated, I searched around for it months ago. The earliest mention that I found was on another message board and as early as Feb 2009, it wasn't from a news source or LE, it was just someone stating that the washer was running. I think Cobra then entered the picture and said it was running and was on the police report. Who knows??? I would think if it was indeed running when LE arrived, that would have been a huge red flag.

I file this under rumor myself.

Interesting, Clown. I've been following this case since it broke and this is the first time I'm heard the washer was running when cops arrived. If that were so, the cops would be all over that demanding to know why Misty was doing laundry at that hour. What could she have a need to wash after she awoke and discovered Haleigh missing? Highly suspicious.
It reminds me of the Lacy Peterson case where her husband Scott was doing laundry the day he reported her missing. That was a red flag for LE that day.

I'm sure LE threw many flags all over that MH, and on the many stories we hear, and they are STILL watching, listening to what the Satsuma folks are saying & doing. LE has been very secretive in this case. Even with Florida's Sunshine Law, they have found a way to keep the investigation secret by not arresting anyone for this case. All the folks currently incarcerated are there on other charges, so no Sunshine Law applies in Haleigh's case at this time.

Rest assured, as soon as they start making arrests in regard to Haleigh, we'll be seeing all sorts of documentation, including lots of pictures of the MH from the time of the visit LE visit, and we'll see what LE saw that night. We can assume we won't be seeing the true picture of the place from the earlier time Haleigh "left" but we'll see something. I assume there will be laundry pictures - laundry in the dryer, in the washer, on the floor, wherever. Look at all the stuff we've seen in the Anthony case. Lots of inconsequential stuff, and we got to see it. I look forward to some interesting doc dumps.

Misty looks like a child in that 1st pict.

In all honesty, I have a hard time believing that the washer or dryer was running.

In all honesty, I have a hard time believing that the washer or dryer was running.

If it was, that would be the longest wash cycle in the history of washing machines, since Misty has stated over and over again that she went to bed at 10 pm and LE wasn't called out until 3:30 am.

I have to believe the washer/dryer running story is pure rumor.

Excellent point... If her cooking consisted of opening a can and heating it and she started at 6, how come the kids were still eating at 7:30?

GGMS probably did the kids laundry for several reasons some of which:
1) MC/RC irresponsible to ensure kids ALWAYS have clean clothes to wear
2) Legitimate reason to drop by whenever (pick up or drop off laundry)
3) MC didn't press the clothes and she wanted them to be perfect
4) Removing stains, just like she said
5) Not unusual for MC/RC to run out of detergent (there were a lot of dirty clothes piled up near the back door! And if Misty threw some of them in the dryer, that is even more!)

My guess is, Ron dropped off all of HaLeigh's school clothes on Sunday with GGMS to be washed. Clean laundry was the least of his concerns during that time, he was wondering where in the heck Misty was and with whom!

If it was the norm for GGMS to do the laundry, I would think it would be normal to drop the clothes off on Sunday, not Monday. However, she may have gotten the dirty clothes late Sunday.

TN did ask her to stop by and check on the kids - again, laundry drop off is a good reason to stop by. Ron may have asked his mom initially as he still was not comfortable about the events the previous days. I would want to know who was in my home also.

It's funny you bring that up, Donjeta. Awhile back I was arguing the same thing. It doesn't take an hour to make canned Ravioli. So if she started at 6, why are they still eating when GMS gets there? It doesn't make sense to me. This whole story is fabricated, Misty is screwing up the script...She was suppose to say that she started cooking at 7p, so then GMS could say she got there at 7:30p and they were outside on the porch eating. I really don't think Misty knows AT ALL what the hell was going on that day.

Something else I was thinking about: Some people speculate that TN was at the mh that day...and that TN was the one babysitting those kids....What if she was...and when she said that she "SENT" GMS over...what if she meant that she called GMS to come to mh..meaning that when GMS is called TN herself was actually at the mh...GMS came to assist her, not Misty? I could never figure out why TN would be the one to supposedly send GMS over and then they ran with the laundry story.

Just to give ya'll something else to think about. LOL

ETA: And can someone please tell me, when did Misty give them a bath? The timeline is not working for me-

How do we now know what Haleigh and Junior ate? How do we know it was canned ravioli? If Misty has no idea of what time people arrived and departed from the house....how can we trust what time she said she started cooking?

Misty's entire account is guess work at best in my opinion.

GGMS made a big point with a lengthy (non-asked for) reason on NG, why she always did the kids laundry. TN pointed out in the layout of the MH there were always piles of dirty laundry in the original NG walk through or shortly after. WHY did GGMS not take the kids dirty laundry back out with her when she left to wash those clothes? Bring in clean/take out dirty...make sense?

I believe laundry is going to play a key factor somehow in the cover-up or what is found. Too much talk about Misty doing laundry, GGMS doing laundry, no laundry detergent, shirts & blankets...not to be for a reason IMO.

Who discusses this subject; GGMS, TN, Misty & Ron. Ron was the one that pointed out "No laundry detergent & beds were made". There has to be something here IMO.
amen good question .. im sorry but rons mom and gma are not telling what they know .. imho

not that it matters much, but I remember reading that they ate hotdogs on the front porch-& GGS dropped laundry off outside.

Misty says Granny's laundry delivery came 7 pm:

What happened after 5:00?
Um, we went in the house, we let the kids play, and I cooked some dinner. The kids played and watched movies like we always do, play and watch movies. I helped HaLeigh with her homework. Um
What movie did you watch that day?
Um they watch Air Bud over and over and over and over again, so it was Air Bud. They don’t stop watching Air Bud, that’s just what they watch or Madagascar, that one too, that’s both of them. . .
What about dinner, what time was that?
Um, I started cooking about 6 and it took me about 30-45 minutes, so eating by a least 7, and that’s when Granny pulled up, and I was finished, I was just waiting for them to finish. And Granny just brought some clothes and then she left, the kids got finished eating, and I got Haleigh ready for bed, she took her Air Buds to my bedroom to put it in the PlayStation2, cause she didn’t have a DVD player and she watched her movies and she went to sleep.
