Contempt actions in family court are quasi- criminal. That's perhaps one of the reasons Houze is handling it.

Ah! That is a great point! Makes perfect sense! The Grand Jury will want to see if any evidence pertinent to Kyron's case comes out in these hearings.

Maybe he didn't have a babysitter for baby K. And with school starting, I'm betting he's not in the best of spirits right now. I don't blame him for not showing up at this hearing. Seeing Terri is the last thing he needs right now. And I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty with the both of them there.

Terri doesn't need a babysitter, and I'm sure she was glad to get out of her cell, I mean the house she's living in, and actually go somewhere and do something. She was probably relieved Kaine wasn't there, I'm sure.

I'm guessing it has at least a little something to do with the RO. When I have appeared in court with an RO in place, it's an issue that is addressed with the court since the parties are not permitted to be within a certain proximity of each other. The court can have one party in chambers or somewhere else separate (I think the court can even exempt the proceedings), but it's an issue that does need to be addressed. KH appearing through his attorney only was probably the best solution in this case, because there was really no reason for him to be there. Actually, I can't think of any good reason for TH to have been there, either. If the only issues were the abatement and the amount of attorneys' fees, there would be no reason for TH to be present. I didn't ever think that it was an evidentiary hearing. jmoo

cabin fever?? lol I'm sure she's going nuts, but appearing in public and in court with a heavy-hitter criminal defense attorney, another lawyer and LE bodyguards doesn't seem like an excellent alternative!!! Just sayin'...I'd have rather be just about anywhere but there today.

I agree. And I do think the LE bodyguards were a bit much. I mean sheesh. Did she really need three of them AND her lawyers? Entourage much? I just don't think she'd be in that much danger at a divorce hearing.

Why would Kaine show up, it was merely a scheduling hearing. Surprised Terri showed up because her presence was not necessary for this type of hearing. Houze is going to handle the next hearing because he is going to have her take the fifth for all questions asked. This is all very typical.

One is the petitioner and the other is the respondent. Kaine would be the petitioner in this case.

This reinforces to me that she has something to hide in regards to Kyron. Her criminal defense attorney is involved in her divorce proceedings. She is trying to keep herself from incriminating herself in any kind of courtroom, and she is hoping this will "blow over." Eventually, many people will forget and move on and she'll be able to do the same.
