Yes. Det. Melich and FBI agent Scott Bolin were in the car as well. Allen did most of the talking with George. There is nothing extraordinary in the conversation.
Just listened to the surreptitious recording of the conversation between GA and LE enroute to the jail and my impression is that LE was 'impressed' more by what GA did not say than by anything he did say. LE did note how put off GA was when he found out JB was in town. :waitasec: Clearly GA thought he would be able to meet with KC alone.
GA made small talk and is cheerful.
GA told KC that 'she's the boss."
LE says we always want what's best for our kids.
GA is SILENT.
GA compliments his son Lee.
CA had a bad day today.
GA complains about the media.
GA had a good friend call him yesterday. (end part 1)
LE says that Mr. Baez is at the jail.
GA has lashed out at him recently.
GA thought JB was in New York (therefore GA thinks he'll be seeing KC alone).
LE stresses it has to be KC's idea/what she wants and that she can decide if she'll see GA with JB or JB first and then GA or GA first and then JB. It's up to KC. KC is the boss.
GA is sorry that his wife is so tough to talk to and to get your point across to. She's strong willed.
LE responds that they understand how tough it is for her it's understandable that she wants the best for her kids.
GA is SILENT.
LE goes over again how KC can choose if she'll see GA, if she will see GA alone or with JB.
GA is SILENT.
Here there is well over a minute of SILENCE.
LE breaks the silence by asking how GA's visit with KC went this morning. GA says that his wife irritated KC early on and that he is trying to "keep my daughter happy". GA repeats that his wife is very demanding.
LE stresses how patient one needs to be with their children, that it's hard being a parent and all you can do is let them know how much you love them. LE says something about forgiveness, knowing you'll be forgiven.
GA replies that he is sure glad LE moved to a bigger building because the other one was too small.
GA says he's very curious as to why JB is here.
LE says that makes four of us in this car (implication 'who are curious')
Someone (LE) says, "really, really strange." (end part 2)
LE says JB was to go to New York. He's doing his job.
LE confirms that they will drive GA back home (or to his car) in their car.
GA wants to know if he can bring KC gum. LE doesn't think so.
GA says that Lee is strong.
They are waiting out in the car in front of the jail to know what KC wants. They all get out of the car to go to the restroom. (end part 3)
____________________________________________________
At the end of part 2, the comments that LE make to each other play upon GA saying he is curious about why JB is at the jail. LE is not curious about that but are playing off the word 'curious' to express to each other how strange the conversation with GA has been. He's more interested in talking about the weather so-to-speak and never reacts to LE's comments regarding loving your kids above all else, wanting the best for them, etc. Instead GA is glad LE has a bigger building. :waitasec:
I think the LE's comment of 'really, really strange' was because GA's demeanor, under the circumstances, was really, really strange. :twocents:
