I loved it when HHJBP explained to JB why his client really should sign the motion that the state wanted her to sign "Death is different and your client is local."
Was MC whining about Amy having to be deposed on her only day off, or his having to work on a Saturday? I missed that exchange due to his mumbling.

Was anyone else amused by HHJP's reference to October 31st as "drop dead date" ??

:furious::furious::banghead: A waste - a huge waste!!!

The whole hearing has been a huge mess - unbelievable!

I also find it entertaining...
Bumbling Baez and his color coded charts can't seem to find his way around them parts.

I'm tellin' ya, JoseB is Casey's appeal waiting to happen.

Ain't it the truth! If I were her I wouldn't give that man up for anything...he's her ticket to an appeal. I swear I've never seen anything like him...unorganized, inept, somewhat uneducated, and completely out done by the SA. It is so obvious he is completely out of his league but that is exactly what will work in KC's favor.

BBM
I think he was more like bioching cause he may have to do a depo on a Saturday.

What a fun trip around the globe! We heard about Holland, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, New York and Florida! All over a case that has one person who knows what happened, and one obviously guilty party. What a MESS!

If JB could be given one magical power during each hearing which one do you he would choose?

a. The ability to recall greater that .035 % of the Rules of Criminal Procedure.

b. The ability to freeze time in order to locate by color, the answer to a question without the painfully loud ticking of the clock.

c. The ability to complete a sentence without using the terms: "actually", "well", or the phrase "I don't see why that won't be possible".

d. The ability to instantly create a large cloud of smoke and drop through a trap door in the floor.

They might have to go through that many documents. Even if they do with that many attys at their disposal and with many years of experience between them all 23k worth of documents shouldn't take long. 23k in litigation is a small sum. Truly.

In a single production I've sent out 40k worth of documents (and it was just a single production) that needed to be gone through and labeled for confidentiality designations etc. If done in an organized manner it can be accomplished. But you can't be lazy about it. And JB and co. are lazy. They don't want to work hard. I hope Honorable Perry makes sure they DO work hard.

Hopefully they'll have plenty of fun nights and weekends to work on it!

I liked Mason's comment - this is a murder case and this witness (Amy H. docking in Miami) should be in touch with us when she can come to us to be deposed, not us fitting our time into hers. (I adlibbed a bit there, but that was the jist of it)

HHJP's face was classic. :croc:

Can anyone illuminate me as to the "casey being present" at the depos thing? What was that all about?

JB is 'shocked' LDB didn't get the recording.

Did he do his best impression of the Baez Smirk when he said "shocked"..

If Baez sent the Discovery over he would have the PROOF to defend himself against this allegations made by the SAO but he can't produce any proof can he? So he plays DUMB, like Mason plays MEMORY and HEARING LOSS.

I can't wait to watch this fiasco of a performance by Baez again later..

Really, they are going to set up a new lab in the US within 30 days ..and Baez expects the Judge to take his word on that? sure, sure LOL

Sure hope they don't want the JAC to pay for the expense of setting up the lab!!

LOL - Brilliant.

I vote "d" unless that is just me wishful thinking.

If JB tries anything sneaky, like bringing certain evidence into the trial that the State is not aware of there will be a huge rumbling sound coming from Judge Perry. JB needs to be careful. imo

Too true, Judge Perry told them on a previous occasion that there will be absolutely NO ambush tactics in his courtroom, but you know Mr Baez is very slow on the uptake and is not known for taking NO for an answer.

JB says if LDB would read the motions filed, she would have the info. No discovery has been produced to State on any of the witnesses listed. LDB says it appears that they are holding back info.

HHJP - Abide by the rules, or file necessary pleading, I would not want to be caught not following the rules.

Hearing over.

Oh PLEEEEASE LDB, please file the necessary pleading..today, please, please..

JB was saying that he had to review 23K docs on EACH WITNESS....not in total.

And that might be true. Or it might be all hot air. Either way if the 23k estimate is accurate then it just means the same documents relate to many witlessness. Which if you're smart you give a section of discovery to each team member. They go through and tag for certain relevancy so you don't have to have each team member individually review documents over and over. It's never good to continually reinvent the wheel. It's all about "KISS".

Or you assign certain issues to certain team members. It sounds like they're duplicating their work when they don't have to.

You are correct. I've seen cases where the document count is as high as 150,000 pages. These documents are scanned in, they are usually searchable, indexed, etc. It's not like someone just dumped a forest full on paper in his parking lot.

Like they aren't the absolute last (well second to last) people on the face of the earth she wants to talk to.
