Freda Radcliff is one of "Hailey's Angels," a group of six who organized a volunteer appreciation dinner this weekend for search crews combing through the fields for the missing Colorado City teen.

"We weren't appreciated for what we tried to do for them," said Radcliff.

Radcliff says there's only one way to describe it.

"A big fiasco," she said.

The culprit, a video created by "Hailey's Angels" that chronicled search efforts from the 13-year old's disappearance to now.

"They showed me, Clint, our family, little kids who were there, video of where they go to search in these ugly fields and these ugly creeks for our baby," said Billie Dunn, Hailey's mother.

Hailey's mother says for her, the hour-long video tribute stirred some negative emotions. She did not like how her daughter's story was presented.

"We're hoping to find Hailey alive," Dunn said, "that's what we want, we don't want to be associated with that."

Volunteers say a search crew member trained by one national agency asked "Hailey's Angels" to turn off the video halfway through.

Does FR blame Billie's comment for making her search group quit? Did something else happen at the dinner? Was FR just miffed her video was turned off? I would love to hear comments from someone who was at the dinner ans saw the video

It looks like BD is interviewed after the dinner (not during) and she is explaining her feelings about the video. She is offended by the video. "It stirred negative emotions." There is no mention of anything BD said or did during this dinner that cause any problem or disturbance.

As much as I appreciate the two teams that she states weren't acknowledged, I have to wonder if she likes the limelight the other teams bring to her, yes her, not Hailey. Not to mention that she may be hoping for another "grant" to sustain her lifestyle.
I'll make no bones about it. I don't like BD from what I've seen of her in video and print. If she didn't want to be a part this appreciation dinner then she could have simply driven her donated mini van to her home and sat on her donated couch.

I have to question why anyone would play an hour long video at a dinner.

I cannot imagine why anyone would play a ONE HOUR VIDEO at said dinner with Hailey's family (not just Billie) present that shows searchers scavenging through dirt, rocks, brush, debris for the remains of their child.

I cannot imagine how horrifying it would be for a parent to sit through that.

An hour of patting themselves on the back and Hailey's Angels feel they aren't appreciated? Obviously its not about Hailey since they are quitting their search.

I would prefer to hear the entire interview with Billie before passing judgment based on the snippets they showed.

Can you imagine how horrifying it was for HD with what was happening to her?!


Clint has shown appreciation for this group in the past and I hope they remember that. It's not about BD. It's about a beautiful little girl named Hailey.

As for anyone wanting appreciation....I doubt anyone wants "appreciation" by someone bowing down and kissing their feet, but c'mon! they have given up many weeks of their lives looking for BD's daughter. That's a lot more I've known of BD doing.

SARX, I'm afraid the difference is that you are a professional. These women and men that have been searching for the last 8 weeks are not. They were just caring parents and locals who wanted HD to be found. BD's latest nonsense just happened to be the straw that broke the camels back. They have posted about how doing this everyday has turned their lives upside down, their kids lives upside down. So yeah, I can see how they are hurt and offended.

As much as I don't like what BD had to say about the Hailey's Angels group, I wish that they would have taken the other route. That is, instead of getting mad and wrapping up their search, I wish they would have gotten mad and said "You know what, this makes me want to search even more."

But, I can't fault them. Many have given up the past 8 weeks of their lives to search for Hailey, and BD is mad because some of the searchers think SA did it. At what point do you, as a volunteer searcher, say I have to get back to my life now?

I totally understand your anger with the statement they made. But in their defense, this group has volunteered every day for the last 8 weeks. That says a lot imo. How many missing kids get that kind of local support ? To me, that says they were doing it for Hailey. But I think they were just frustrated by Billie and had had enough.

Authorities Searching Big Spring Landfill in Connection with Hailey Dunn Case

BIG SPRING - NewsWest9 has learned that authorities are searching the Big Spring landfill right now in connection with the Hailey Dunn case.

If Billie is so concerned about finding a "live Hailey" - then she needs to get off her duff & get out there & pass out flyers, talk to people, and put that donated van to good use.

She raises a ruckus because she doesn't like how others are searching?!

Billie: If you don't like how it's being done - no one is stopping you from doing it yourself! Take a page from Clint's book! In fact, I'd bet Clint would be more than willing to give you a few tips on how to do it! He's been waiting for you to hoist yourself from that couch & hit the streets to help find Hailey!

Oh - and if Billie didn't like the "negative emotions" the video stirred up, she could have quietly gotten up from her chair & left the room.

I hope the news station can get a copy of the video. I want to see what's on there that Billie claims was HA "trying to prove that Shawn did something horrible to Hailey".

KlaasKids, Laura Recovery Center, and Team Amber Rescue have searched the same "ugly fields" and "ugly creeks" as Hailey's Angels - and they have all done it for Hailey's sake, in the hopes of finding a clue or evidence that would lead LE to Hailey's whereabouts (as well as the grim possibility of finding a deceased Hailey). Sure - no one wants to think about that possibility. But it can't be ignored simply because it's "ugly". Hailey has been missing for almost 8 weeks. It's reality. It's called "leaving no stone unturned".

I think Billie has resented HA's daily searching these past weeks. Like others have posted upthread - the other search teams leave town after they search. But HA are there - day in/day out, and have been openly supportive of Clint. No doubt that must really get on her last nerve. MOO

IMO, Billie revealed her true colors yesterday - and they ain't pretty.

Oh - but she did it under the thin guise of "We're hoping to find a live Hailey". Uh - Billie - when have you searched for a "live Hailey"?

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- In a reversal Tuesday afternoon, the group calling itself Hailey's Angels said they cannot and will not quit searching for missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn.
Members of Hailey's Angels told KTXS News on Tuesday that they were too invested, they'd spent too many hours and energy over the past seven weeks to now quit the search.
The group, however, will search independently for Hailey Dunn, apart from other search organizations.
