We tried talking to Billie Dunn, Hailey's mother, but she would not talk on camera because her lawyer has told her not to. She did tell NewsWest9 that she was not notified of any new developments and she doesn't believe her daughter is dead.

She managed to talk even though her attorney was in the metroplex yesterday.

I absolutely agree. Why on God's green Earth should BJD's lawyer be telling CD anything! My heart aches for Clint, and he should not have gone through that. It seems that LE is lumping the entire family into one pile -- which certainly isn't the case. As far as BJD's family - well I think you know my take on that one. My apologies - as I thought they were there as well.

Hugs,

Mel

Hugs back. :). I would totally agree if it were BJDs family, I would say, go ask your daughter! But I went back and checked through yesterday's articles, and it looks like the only family that showed up were CDs sister and Naomi's mother, none from BDs family.

It seems like they were most upset by learning via the Internet about PKs early statement to the press (ktxs, I think) that LE "has reason to believe" Hailey is deceased. PK later changed his wording on that, but at the time his original words were reported, apparently the family took it to mean there were things that indicated HD was dead, and that LE hadn't informed the family about those things.

Gonna go get the link to this...

Also just looking back at my posts, I hope all will excuse my typos, I'm mobile ATM and it's a pain to go back and correct :innocent:

He we go:

From http://www.ktxs.com/news/27372485/detail.html

He said his statement that officials “have reasons to believe that Hailey is deceased” was meant to convey the same approach law enforcement has had for more than two months: The case is considered a criminal investigation – not a runaway teenager.

Nevertheless, the wording Kampfer used on Tuesday in statements to KTXS News was the first on-the-record public statement specifically acknowledging that officials believed Hailey was deceased. When asked by a KTXS reporter, he twice repeated the statement that officials “have reasons to believe that Hailey is deceased.”

The reporting of this news Wednesday morning was understandably disturbing to family members of Hailey Dunn, who have been holding onto hope that Hailey might yet be found and safely returned. The family members showed up to ask what new information prompted the statements and to protest that they need to cling to the hope that Hailey might be returned safely.

So PK *twice* says they have "reasons" to believe she is dead. I can totally see how they took this to mean that there is evidence, or information, that LE has, but did not tell them. And he repeated the same words, "reasons to believe", twice to ktxs. But later changes the wording, and backpedals it. I'm trying hard to stay away from bashing PK...but... I think we can all agree that he really needs to choose his words more carefully, in order to avoid confusion and anger like this in the future.

So frustrating just for us watching this case from afar. I can't imagine how frustrated Haileys loved ones must be. :(

Razor, I don't know whether PT meant "we" as in the collective search groups, or whether she actually participates in searches as part of a team.

  • #106
I heard PK say LE believes Hailey is deceased but cannot give details as to the reasons why they believe this.
Therefore, I believe LE has evidence that leads them to believe it.

Surprise, surprise, surprise, I see that Billie did get to talk a little bit even though her lawyer told her not to.

I believe he also stated when he was telling Jessica (the Lady from the news Station) how to ask the questions,

"I can not discus all the evidence we have that leads us to believe she is deceit"

With him saying that I think they must have something.

So either her attorney didn't notify her or Pete is a liar about speaking to her attorney.

Just to clear up the issue. I did not say any arrest was unjust I said they are criminals , I dont even know why LE planting evidence came up in your post.
I am aware of why SA is a suspect and what is evidence. I am unsure of what you are disputing about my post.

I was talking about your original point that you felt the family had many good reasons not to trust LE, and with that you included the arrests and the reasons why certain people are POIs. Here it is:

They are half looking to LE to solve their problems and half non trusting. Why? LE is not trust worthy if they believe you to be a criminal. They can lie ,and lead you to believe non truths and not disclose information in the name of justice. Clint is a criminal ,Billies Mother is a criminal, Billie is a criminal,And SA is a suspect?

Maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say there? You put a question mark after your sentence about who is a criminal, so I thought you were saying that LE believed it but it wasn't true.

I would say that LE has many good reasons not to trust some of the people in the family, so it works both ways. My point about evidence was that LE isn't to blame for whatever they've found in BD's house. LE isn't to blame when people make conflicting statements and can't explain why.

PARTICULARLY since the divorce is not yet final, it may be in Clint's best interests not to "bad-mouth" the mother of his children during the process, REGARDLESS of how things APPEAR. Unless she is charged with a related crime, he's probably being pretty smart.

:twocents: And some people just Can not or Will not bad mouth other people !!!!!!

I have not hear the pc but, whether this info coming from PK or someone else in LE, I believe the message that HD is deceased is what he was trying to get across to everyone. As if to say, "the gig is up, we know she is not coming back alive, (we have pretty strong evidence) that show us this, and so whoever is responsible, better step up before it becomes a murder trial". I want to think that this is their tactic in getting the answer to where HD is and letting those responsible know that they better get talking to their lawyer to work on a plea bargain before a murder trial arises. JMO. As to why he didn't want BD and CD there is strange.

And I'm with you DGC on your post about this family and all the illegal dealings. LE must really be shaking their heads and asking WTH. I'm sure this is not the first time they have come across this sort of nonsense but it must get sickening, maddening when this type crap is played out in so many families. Pity the poor children. They are the ones to suffer at the ignorance and stupidity of parents who do not deserve them. Again JMO

It's a small town and I'm sure local LE knew the background of both families somewhat well but the multitude and contents of what was found was surely a stun.

Since PK was over the monies for the reward, he was the correct person to make the announcement, BUT he did a couple of things inappropriate in my book.

1. He should have informed BD and CD beforehand. Since this announcement was to be only about the reward change, it would have been no problem to call BD direct, imo; unless he just didn't want to deal with her directly. He should have called CD and told him...period.

2. His wording and approach to the whole announcement was way off mark. Very poorly stated. All he had to say was that there has been a change in the stipulation for the reward for any info leading to finding the whereabouts of HD and hoping with this change more info would be forthcoming, no further explanation needed...people are smart enough to figure it out as most people have questioned whether she could be still be alive at this point along with what has been found.

That's it....that's all he had to say and should have said because the first press release stated it would be about the reward money and nothing else. His own perception and the thoughts of LE's "whereabouts" of HD did not need to play a part in that; and his communication in relaying it were atrocious. I don't think he should be allowed to say anything further, imo. He is wanting to play his hand too much in HD's case and his feelings toward CD & BD and/or his ego seem to be getting in the way of his professionalism.

I can't imagine the multiple emotions hitting CD when learning of everything over the internet. Any help or confidence of LE that CD might have been leaning toward is now dowsed and prolly his prior feelings of doubt and uncertainty are now doubly confirmed.

I would have called the mayor if I lived in CC...and apparently some have after seeing her appearance in the media.

Clint does not need to "bash" Billie, but he does need to open his eyes and not defend her or SA. If he had done this months ago, he might have more information on the case from LE.

  • #115
But can Clint keep what they would tell him in confidence? If not then I do understand not telling him, regardless how my heart feels for him. If I was him I'm sure I'd be angry, but really this is about finding Hailey, what has happened to her and bringing whomever is involved to justice.
Reality has a way of hurting sometimes.

Since there was a whole lotta hoopla in the build-up and delivery of this PC without a whole lotta new info, here’s what I took from the PC:

1. PK (and LE) wanted the message out to everybody. Just wanted everybody to know. Potential tipsters, hello, are you listening?

2. PK’s (and LE’s) message was not meant for Sally and Sam Websleuther (that includes me), potential future grandma’s (unless involved or with knowledge that could help solve the case) or any other uninvolved Joe Shmoe. Target audience was/is those in-the-know about anything having to do with helping to solve this case.

3. Bottom-line message from PK (and LE), we’re making it easier for tipster to give info to solve this case and collect $15,000.

I hope it works! MOO

OR shes simply lieing again.

So if her attorney did tell her, she will tell him she never said that, so I guess the poor reporter is lying.

"If she is deceased I hope it was quick. I hope she didn't suffer. I honestly hope it quick," said Jones.

"If she's up there I have a lot of people up there taking care of her," cried Jones as she looked up. "If you are gone I will see you. I will hold you again I promise, and if you are here I'd love to see you.

Thanks teh for posting the link to this article. At least we are hearing some comment from her family.

I am so sad about this development, but I think we knew this was a possibility.

Prayers for Hailey.
