I don't know how much of this will be discussed at the trial, but if I was a juror I would simply try to block it out!

Quick shot of CA - glasses in hand - looking troubled this morning....

Even JB has a zombie stare going on.....and it's a half hour in!

Now she's arguing forensic science is junk?? Based on ages-old (pre-DNA testing) cases? OH. EM. GEE.

Does anyone else think this sounds suspiciously like a college lecture on the topic??? She's moving at a lecture pace.....NOT an arguments pace. It is too vague. She is peppering the "speech" with tidbits...but relying on NON-Relevant info.

Thank you. I cannot follow her because there is no "logic" to what she is arguing. IMHO. I will wait till she is done. it is grating on me, already. :pullhair:

I submit that Dorothy Sims does not have any clue about hair. And the fact that she is arguing it - well I find that ironic indeed.

I may be wrong, but, I don't think DS understand what a Frye hearing means...

I agree, which is why His Honor seems to not want to teach her today...maybe that's why he appears to be in a bad move...His Honor is a walking law library....I think the defense is trying too hard to get all prejudical evidence away from her client...

Wow. Not a single smirk or rolling eyes from JB or the DT.

I am so sick of the belly aching about "lack of funds" for the defense. Give me a break. They have gotten every penny they have asked for. They blew through roughly $300,000 early on. I'm over it, so over it.

Me too, and thinking, OK the plant thing is cool and all, now why did she wait 31 days?

Shot of JB sitting at Defense table - eyes slowly blinking - looking kind of zoned out.

Also wearing the ICA colors of the day - black and white.

"it deals with individuals and individuals make errors"
DS

Even JB is bored by this. Her lack of passion is so obvious. IMO...she's "phoning this in".

HH: cited by the state
DSimms: that was a case where hair decomp was admitted. Individuals make errors.

  • #177
Simms claims she knows of no cases where the hair with decomp was allowed...His Honor said, I do...the NY case the state cited....slap down

court reporters are amazing. I always wonder how they can possibly keep up.

It's a special shorthand typewriter, isn't it? I think they have to have about 120/140 words per minute.

I'm about 2 seconds from being unconscious myself....jus sayin'

Not me, I'm just sad. I think the judge is sad, I think JA is sad. They are there for Justice for Caylee, and this nonsense that DS is spewing is incomprehensible. I also ask the average layperson, why is there a need for a PP presentation, when a verbal argument is just as valid. Does this mean she needs it to read from her own notes (that's what I think). I've sat through so many PP Presentations at my previous employment, and to see someone just reading the presentation just drives me nuts. There's no excuse, unless there are graphs, tables, etc.

MOO

Mel

PS: oh yes, DS - bring up costs...that'll do ya good.

it's fascinating that anyone from the defense side would even mention how expensive this case is.
