My son has AS and he is AWESOME! He is not very sociable but he is honest, kind and fair minded. He would make a wonderful juror but would not enjoy being sequestered with strangers or taken out of his routine.

He would actually be able to clear his mind and concentrate on just what he heard at trial.

Only problem we might have being on a jury is we tend to be a bit too literal or have a hard time reading between the lines.
Mine is somewhat mild, so it wouldn't be too much an issue.

Did they hear that it is a big case and they can make money on it after? I can't imagine why a woman like this who has no friends, keeps to herself, watches no tv other than cowboy and westerns, does not read news and previously stated she could not judge people - would do a complete 180 and want this kind of aattention.

I would think a woman like this would NOT want to be involved int his if she KEEPS TO HERSELF. MO

ITA something doesn't smell right to me.

I'm not sure this juror can keep up with the volume of information at this trial.

Why does the DT keep asking about the Innocence Project?

JB questioning now.

Asked her opinion about the Innocence Project?
Objection.

Asked her about knowledge of DNA evidence, forensic understanding, etc.
I don't know.

Asking about not giving a police officer more weight.
I don't understand the question.

I feel like she's a little too easily confused, the case evidence will be complex.

I am going to ask a stupid question. Will all 68 people have to go through voir dire. Or will they at some point stop this process and choose from a smaller group?

Will stop as soon as they have the required jurors. If one is struck from the final list they will go back to the pool and work until they replace that person. Right now they are going with the folks they have talked to so far.

JB: Have you ever heard of The "Innocence Project"

LDB Objection

HHJP Sustained

Me: Have you ever heard of the baffle them with BS strategy?

*Snort*
If she doesn't get picked, I wonder if she will friend me and be my neighbor, lol.

I had to run an errand (right after I said I didn't want to miss any more of this...) so I've missed some pages. I just wanted to say these PJs are not banned from the internet or FB or Twitter, they are just not to discuss this case, period. They go into all this detail explaining this for those special people who say things like, "But I didn't SAY anything, I just posted on FB..." etc, etc. Like my kids tried to pull when they were little, "But Mom, you didn't say (whatever)".

I will! :D <FV addict!!

For a person to be of the age that this woman appears to be (as stated by media folks), I find this rather suspect.

Even as a late teenaged girl, I had thought about the death penalty and how I felt about it. Now, as a middle-aged (!!!) woman, I think about it.

How can a person who has lived as long as this person apparently has, not ever have considered their own feelings on the death penalty?

I do not trust this woman, and I do not make that statement with a light heart.

It does seem odd that she would have no thoughts about the DP, especially back in the day (1970s) when many states decided not to use it anymore. It was all over the news back then and people voiced their opinions left and right.

She sounds old enough to have been around back then.

I get what he is getting at but what a sucky question. Police officers are "normal" people !

JB: if you sat on this case and you found the state did not prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt do you think you would feel pressure from your family?

no

JB: have you heard of the innocence project?

objection

JB: dna, anything like that?

I don't know

JB: if you had LE and non LE and the judge said you should not give the LE more weight than a regular person could you do that? Do you have strong feelings toward LE? Could you follow that instruction as a juror?

I don't understand the question.

JB: would you believe a LE over someone who is not LE?

hard question to answer.

JB: do you think LE has more credibility than non LE?

it is kind of hard to answer that question.

JB: is that something you want to get on you own?

correct

JB: would you like to be a juror on this case?

as a citizen my duty, yes.

JB: after all we put you through this week?

yes.

Would u like to be a juror on this case?

As a citizen, my duty, yes.

If BAEZ would learn to ask questions (that actually make sense), the prospective jurors would be able to answer him.

IMO

Why does the DT keep asking about the Innocence Project?

Because the Innocence Project tries to help people get off of death row, wrongly convicted.

A juror may assume that Innocence Project could clean up if they just went with the group vote.

IMO, there are probably more reasons too.
