AF talks in circles sometimes. She needs to watch that.

Why is JB acting so thick-headed about every-thing?

The lady that "guessed" she could find KC not guilty (even though JB keeps calling KC innocent, she's not innocent by any means): Why, IN THE REAL WORLD, would any person who sees a news story in which the police have reported that a child is murdered and her mother is a suspect presume that the mother is "innocent"?
Let's be honest, when police have a suspect in ANY case our unchecked feeling is going to go with the police/news report, until we hear more. This lady said she never really heard more...When police release a photo of a suspect and ask the public to call with info, I know I tend to think that person is the one that did it and they are looking for him due to that.
Now, when it comes time to be a juror, yes, we can put things aside and presume non-guilt. But to deny that it's human nature to presume, out of the gate, that the media and police are onto the right person would be really pious, IMO.

They are asking you no matter what you believe can you set that aside and hear the evidence and make the state prove the person is guilty with enough evidence under the law. Enough evidence equals beyond a reasonable doubt.

They are not asking you forget what you know or believe they are just asking you not to use that in your work as a juror. Only use what they give you in the trial.

I too hope there will be more than 3 alternates, regardless how long it takes to get them...asking for trouble in a long trial like this one, especially this big of a case.

  • #184
I saw that reported! I PRAY that is wrong and the media screwed up because IMO 3 alternates is NOT nearly enough. 6 alternates, I could live with.

IKWYM, Beach...I too would rather have more than less so that this DT has no appeal issues...that could be overturned...His Honor has an impeccable record in that department...only 1 case had been 'partially' overturned on appeal....great record....JMHO

I really can't stand ICA on so many levels.

sorry to ask a question: but is this 3119? tia

  • #188
I can't see AF's voice lasting till 5pm.

Mercy question . . . no I don't think that is appropriate. Eye for an eye, tooth for tooth?
No

  • #190
she does not believe mercy is appropriate

she does not believe in the eye for eye thang

  • #191
I'm genuinely sorry that AF (or anyone) is sick and feeling poorly, but I am hoping that maybe she will be more brief and not feel up to droning on as long as last week.

MERCY....PJ doesn't think that is appropriate. Eye for an eye- doesn't believe in that either.

The 3 makes me incredibly nervous as well. "Penny wise, pound foolish" comes to mind...i.e., save a few hours (or even days) now at the risk of a mistrial later because you run out of alternates!? Doesn't make sense to me at all. The OJ trial comes to mind when they ALMOST went through a healthy number of alternates before it was over.
The newspaper today says there will be 8 alternates and the trial will not begin on Tuesday...too bad because there is a full moon on Tuesday.

Oh dear Ms Finnell - difficulty with her breathing, hoarse voice, and big sniffs - yuck!

MAJOR YUCK - and the grandmother voice sounds so phony to me.

BTW - saw your cat on my webcam -- looks like he/she is imitating you? LOL

AF can't keep this up all day - she's not feeling well at all. Maybe CM or JB can step up to the plate. I can almost feel her pain.

Age - PJ says if they are a minor. If the person was an adult then it would not play into it.

  • #197
The age of the offender? Is that a slip???

  • #198
Age question . . . only if they were a "Minor" but not if they were an adult
AF: adult greater than 18?
PJ: yes

Cannot consider age as a mitigating circumstance.
