Awwwww. I liked that guy with the bad back, now he is gone. I thought he was going to be down to earth and strong. Another one bites the dust.

The lady on the stand right now sounds kind of indecisive. Maybe that means she will be thorough. But I hope she is not easily swayed.

I dunno - I kinda agree with JB. Why should she just get the first 12 that show up?
Huh? How many total jurors have they gone through?

  • #483
This strike-fest WILL backfire, Mr. Baez.

HHJP is
PIZZED OFFF.

That makes two of us! I don't care if I never hear the word STRIKE again - ever. This is so discouraging, one step forward, one step back.

I think it is abundantly clear now what JB is up to. He is going to continue this striking until he uses them all. Then he will renew the objection he just made, then he will ask to be granted more strikes until he runs out of jurors.

I was hopeful ( I know, I know!) that JB and Co would not do this because it makes it clear they are obstructing the process but obviously anything to stall is what he is all about.

I think HHJP was just about to lose his cool but reined it back in. He is a saint!

But, if that is what is allowed under the law, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. jmo It is going to take a long time for this, no matter who wants it to go quickly.

So the DT has been able to keep the jury down to very few females.

  • #487
how many does strikes does the DT have left?

  • #488
Told ya. One at a time until he runs out of strikes.

It will eventually backfire on him I suspect.

Karma at work.

I agree - this will backfire on him.

Is it usual for the person who is on trial to be part of picking the jury????

  • #490
I see now why HHJP said it would be a race when he swears them in. That was very exciting. As soon as they got to twelve... HHJP - Ok, clear the first three rows. bring in the twelve jurors, I'm swearing them in... JB in the backgrund quickly objecting and back striking a juror.

He objected to swearing in the jury - he wanted to CONTINUE to question the POOL of jurers for better jurors. He doesn't want to stop at the number the judge is stopping at.

He was challenging the procedure of the judge reaching a certain number and then stopping the questioning of the other pool jurors.

When the judge denied him - he then used a strike and removed a juror and forced the judge to find another juror.

UNREAL> looks like he may continue to do this until his strikes are done. MO

If he didn't find the current jurors acceptable, why not strike at the time? He's just holding out in case something better comes along. Time wasting.

You know what? I don't give a fig if this jury selection takes a couple more days...

let JB and CM go ahead and use up all their peremptories...I would bet that HHJP will NOT give any more to them, so they only have 3 left now. Then the defense will have to take whatever comes up next ..... yanno...the expression "it is what it is." Then the state can be more careful with their peremptories and stack the deck with more state inclined jurors.

Jose is biting off his nose to spite his face! and will pay for it later.

Fun Fact: Geraldo once described Baez as his "brother from another mother"

Mr. Baez - although you can't see why lies ahead there is not point in trying to delay it - there is nothing you can do - it's coming anyhow.

Well said. ETA, it's been a long time coming.

Speaking of Geraldo, I'm surprised he hasn't sasshayed into court yet, making a big commotion to sit in and report on jury selection. He is, after all, another one that likes to make it "all about him" IMO. :loser: :loser: :loser:

I could not imagine how messy their desk would be if they had an actual case that their client might be innocent.
