It annoys me. I really feel he tries in his way to "connect" with the pj's, trying to make them like him so they will like his client. I cannot stand the man. I know attorneys like him and find them to be underhanded.
The personal little touches, about books, sports, whatever...icky.
The state does not do this and that's why i feel less intelligent or more gullible jurors will be more attracted to the defense.
I totally agree with you and I would even go so far as to describe it as smarmy as well as underhanded.
But as to the bolded above, I think even the less intelligent or gullible jurors will get sick of it rather quickly. A steady diet of milk and honey looks awfully good in the beginning but tends to get sickening pretty fast, IYKWIM.
