Maybe because the hair had been open to the elements for months, subject to heat, humidity and water. It may have made a difference and those characteristics may no longer be visible.

FBI been doing this type of analysis since the 1930's. Since then, the instruments has gotten better and their documentation methods have changed, but the basic concept of examination has not changed.

Hair exams have never been a means of positive examination.

She had sited four articles on post mortim root banding.
