Why did JA even put this fbi guy on? He didn't add anything to their case and now JB doing great damage with it and also makes Dr. Vass sound like an idiot.

Dr. Vass testified to amounts in the air samples. Not on objects in the trunk. Apples to apples and JB is not doing that. imo

Don't be fooled, folks. JB wants you to think that Dr. Vass and Dr. Rickenbach are at odds. In reality they're confirming each other's findings. I'm certain JA will be able to clear up the confusion on redirect.

In lab analysis, we almost always say "Consistent with..." or "Appears to be..." or "Appears to be consistent with..." It's called CYA! The "consistent with..." also keeps the analyst from "practicing medicine." Actually, then the doctor or person using the results, analyzes the results in conjunction with the symptoms (in a live patient) to arrive at a diagnosis!

The mock juror think JB did a good job of driving home the point that the chloroform levels Dr. R found were very low.

(Don't hit me folks...just being honest.)

Baez is doing an excellent job with this witness.
- he has established that the leval of cloraform found is consistant with cleaning fluid.
- the witness has directly contradicted Dr Vass's testimony regarding "shockingly high" levals
- regardless of your personal feelings regarding him, this is very effective. The question is - will he quit while he's ahead.

The jury is getting sleepy....their eyes are getting heavy. C'mom Baez say something brilliant to wake them up.

As is ICA...I see her eyelids very heavy, ready to close...of course, she isn't paying attention for this isn't about her at the moment..

Just lost a whole post because the computer said I was not logged in. Nice. :thumb:

side bar.

Because the FBI chemist was testing for chloroform residue on items. Dr. Vass was analyzing the air samples.

Thank You!!!!

Bill S pointing out that Dr. Vass was looking for different things: compounds found in human decomposition. Totally different than the analysis Rickenbach did.

This is curious - why is the FBI chemist at odds with what Dr. Vass found.

Now we know why JB kept hammering the "chemist" question. This guy trumps Dr. Vass and the qualitative vs. quantative definitely seems to be a huge issue to me. Score JB :ohwow:

Did he talk about Q22?... that is where Vass found the mother-lode for chloroform.

This must be the first time in this trial that the defense is actually scoring points IMO.

I would agree:truce:
However, without asking how much his positive control was, and what that amount would be in lay terms, or consistent with, I'm holding out on his score for the defense. It appears to me that there is a very good reason why Baez is not asking the question, I'm sure JA will cover it for him though!

This is making sense to me - there would be more chloroform in the air than on, say, a piece of fabric.

But didn't he suggest during a cross examination that the chloroform could have been a by-product from Caylee's swimming suit due to picking up chloroform from the A's pool?

Also, if he wants to suggest that the Chlorine came from another, unspecified, pool then he is going to have to make this point clear at some point. Thus far, the Anthony's swimming pool has been a common theme.

At one point, Baez referred to the swimming suit being placed there after swimming in tony's pool in early June.

JB w/Rickenbach....can find chloroform in household items...not analyzed chlorinated items (pool water) no knowledge if chlorofom in soda....usually a cleaning product find chlroform in....run a sample of gcms...items detecting chloroform...different between qualitative analysis vs. quantitative.....qualitative is just trying to detect substance analyzing.....quantative is how much...

specimines significantly less than sample....not the most chloroform seen in 20 years no....not shockingly high levels of chloroform....what item tested

Q-22 spare tire cover piece - residue of chloroform significantly lower than positive control

Q-23 spare tire cover - ran a 2nd test of the tire cover.....significantly lower than control @ low levels

Q-24 left side trunk liner - chemical consistent w/chloroform - @ low levels one test showed chloroform and 2nd test didn't even pick it up
Q-25 right side trunk liner
Q-44 piece of spare tire cover - low levels chloroform identified
Q-45 - piece of spare tire cover - same results as Q-44
Q-....tested other items not sure whether came from car....on this batch of items....

did you test steering wheel cover? Sidebar

ABCAshleigh Ashleigh Banfield
#caseyanthony lawyer writing on easel but jurors don't seem too interested. He's writing specimen #'s. Not very riveting stuff. Technical

THIS is what I have missed....so chloroform WAS found in the gatorade bottle? What about the Crystal Light bottle that was inside the trash...the brown liquid...was that positive for chloroform too?

If so, can they determine if it was homemade? TIA

IIRC, it has small amount but also had testosterone mixed in...so I don't believe this should be used...

This cross is going so much better than yesterday. Perhaps it's because JB can relate to a chemist.

AND...Anthony's "supposedly" didn't use chlorine in their pool...as per reports

It was pointed out earlier by another WSer that Anthony Lazzaro testified that Caylee had been swimming in the pool at his apartment.

Take it from a college professor. He is not a good teacher.

:floorlaugh: Trust me, I never meant to insinuate he was a good teacher...I am pretty sure that even my 5 year old could teach a jury panel how to spell better than JB can. I was just sayin' that this was possibly his intention for using the notepad....not that it was effective....lol.

IMO You can't compare Dr. Vass' findings with what this witness is discussing. It's like comparing an apple to an orange..JMHO
