Looks like she has a large training manuel in her hands (KBrewer)....

Yeah, they need all of that information. Here is a short article explaining why the SA needs all of this information. It seems the Florida State Supreme Court is not happy with all of the dogs being used without any sort of State Standard. This case directly dealt with drug dogs, but it applies to all service K-9's.

Florida Supreme Court throws out evidence found by drug dog

From the short article:
The 5-1 drug-sniffing dog ruling says training certificates and records aren’t enough to establish a canine’s reliability.

Given the lack of standards, prosecutors also must present other evidence including field performance records and an explanation of each dog’s training. They also must present evidence on the experience and training of the officer who is handling the dog.

Ms. Brewer does not look at the jury when she answers, unlike past officers/FBI experts and witnesses.

It wouldn't surprise me if the DT tries to use that to their advantage. LOL!

I have a feeling we'll have to see all of the credentials, again, for "Bones" the dog. Something to do with the Florida Supreme Court saying that Dog Evidence can be grounds for mistrial, or be thrown out, if everything is not crossed and dotted ahead of time. It is a bit tedious, but the SA is taking no chances.

Well, if it is, I guess I'll just get a jump on my housework.

Too bad the jury is held hostage. Bet they'd have given anything to leave and go dust some furniture during all that yesterday. ;)

I have seen ICA using what looks to be a laptop computer a couple times now during the trial... Is this normally allowed? How do they know she isn't using it to contact people?
You can even send text messages from the Internet now...

Thank you!

She's very nervous - so was Forgey when he started yesterday but LDB got him settled in and comfy so that when JB was on cross Forgey was not taking nuttin from him...

Who is this new addition to the DT - the AA woman at the far end of the table? Anyone know?

KC checks out the prosecutor up n down----checking her out like she's STILL concerned about being the cutest in the room. WAKE UP KC!!! You're facing the needle!

I recall this K9 handler did better on the stand during the Frye hearings than Forgey. Forgey was much better this time around.

Maybe it's because it is still early, but I was going to say this witness seems a little more nervous than the witnesses yesterday. I'm sure she has lots of experience on the stand, she just seems uncomfortable up there.

Here we go..rock and roll!!!! good morning sleuthers!

Some guy from HLN said last night that yesterday was the first time he'd seen a change of mood in ICA since the trial started. He thought she seemed more concerned, more intimidated by the testimony than before - like it is getting to her.

Will watch for that today because I hadn't noticed that.

IS at its finest:

InSession In Session
Kristin Brewer handled the bones found in the #CaseyAnthony case.

here we go!

Good morning!

Sgt. Brewer seems like a good witness!

KC looks angry again, she really hates the dog evidence

I have a feeling she hates dogs. Remember Cindy talking about the dogs throwing up and then the pet cemetery stuff.

We got all that testimony of Bones training through Forgey yesterday, so I'm hoping LDB realizes we don't need a recap.

  • #79
the other dog handler covered quite a bit of Bones' training yesterday as well... so from 2005-2008 is what they will cover I am thinking...

Funny to me that bomb sniffing dogs are greatly depended on by the military, drug sniffing dogs are greatly depended on by DEA and other law enforcement entities, BUT death sniffing dogs are questioned by the great JB........just saying.

ETA: don't forget search and rescue dogs.......
