witnesses that love their work are awesome!!! You go latent print girl!!!!

Now I know it was there as a follower of the case but the jury might find disapearing heart sticker evidence and the not taking pictures of unexpected evidence a bit ,well..odd.

I mean the glue was gone from the tape and bandaide residue does not stay on in six months of rain /submerging etc.. And duct tape glue is alot strong that sticker stuff.

Bet ICA is glad that storm Faye was able to wash away her prints.

I actually wouldn't put it past KC to have worn plastic gloves just because she thought that she was going to outsmart LE!

  • #866
She is a great expert and awesome on the stand! Very informative!

  • #867
This witness is just wonderful!! Good luck JB trying to trip her up.

She is so clear and speaks so precisely that I believe that it will give credence to the fact that she did see the heart. She doesn't sound like some emotional, undisciplined worker who would invent an image that was not clearly evident. I think this will count with the jury. . . moo.

Latent fingerprint FBI specialist is very passionate about her job. She speaks very fast and her interest in the subject is very obvious. She's been asked to slow down for the court reporter.

Elizabeth Fontaine Fingerprint examiner FBI - initials on package of 3 pieces duct tape.....

received in evidence....Q is question item Q-62 separate piece of tape
Q-63 & 64 - stuck together - examiner in trace separated them....she examined before and and after separatation

6 - 8 inches in length- glue was almost gone - duct tape no longer sticky....glue migrated to fibers....no longer sticky tape....glue and fibers stuck together with plastic piece of tape.....

exmined to find fingerprints....tape found on remains in an area previously had flooding....(object - expert can give opinion)....evidence subjected to enviroment factors would not expect fingerprints to present....regardless of what she thinks the outcome will not change....no fingerprints found....they are made up of oils, skin cells, etc.

note something you did see? object -0verrule.....on Q-63 an outline of aheart appeared at the edge

using an alternate light source called rubis.....

bumps, refective surface, helps make flat non-reflective image - eliminate background of process of latent prints....approx size of dime.......bandaid on for period of time...glue left in shape of heart......upon seeing that no special significance ....noted in file and notified supervisor.....supv also observed heart shape on duct tape......viewed in the presence of Fontaine......her job is look @ latent prints ....when she sees something unexpected .......item continued on exam....did attempt to photo the heart but no longer visible on the duct tape.....completed her exam appropriate at that time to photo.....RAM - dye stain....strong solvent colors superglue...under a laser ....dye stain white superglue ...look @ fingerprints rather than white so glow orange - black powder and solution to process with black powder......other than stating it was in shape of a heart and size of a dime cannot go further...don't know how got there, when, etc.
Cross
K are known items

The jury might have to kick this testimony since there is no picture of the heart sticker. She should have taken a photo as soon as she saw it. But hindsight is always 20/20.

Maybe I am having a super judgemental day..but I dont like this witness's tone. LOL.

Also I was thinking how funny it would be to have a sling shot firing brussel sprouts at Casey's waif sweater.

She certainly enunciates extremely well. "No, I did nottttt."

  • #873
Wait, I thought LE found the actual sticker on duct tape.

I believe after this expert noticed the heart sticker outline, someone asked CSI to check the dump site for a heart sticker and they found one.

IMO

  • #874
Oh, I get it, the FBI people put the heart sticker on.

  • #875
This is the first time jury hears of the heart-shaped outline found on the duct tape. #CaseyAnthony

Oh no....She could'nt find the heart again to photograph..Not good.

  • #877
I SOOO wish she had photographed this when the heart shape was still there.

If she had deviated from proper lab protocol for her position then it would have been an issue so she was correct to move on.

  • #878
Ms. Fontaine really knows her stuff! I like how she's really explaining things so there is no confusion

I really liked her bandaid analogy. Who hasn't ever experienced that?

  • #879
So where did we get the photo with the shorter piece of duct tape tha HAS a RED HEART sticker on it? I am confused... Why is that duct tape piece not (appearing to be) 6-8 inches long?

  • #880
Help me out, guys...was this sticker residue found on the tape attached to the skull, or the tape found near where the hand bones were located?

It has always been my understanding (which may be incorrect) that it was the piece that was thought to be on the mouth. When she started she mentioned that she had 3 pieces that were separated by someone else, so it would appear that it was from the 3 that were together, since the fourth was separate and somewhere else.
