IMO the defense wastes their time when they call witnesses who basically just restate things that we already know from the prosecution case and particularly when we already know the counterarguments to what they say. I already knew from the prosecution witnesses that chloroform and the fatty acids in adipocere can be found from other things as well but the other compounds and the ratios matter. I also know from common sense experience that no household items I have ever had have made my car trunk smell like human decomposition.

I'm not too shocked to find out there are small amounts of chloro in cheese & butter, if it is present in decaying human then no reason it wouldnt be in decomposing animal products. (dont mean to gross yall out if you're not veggie or vegan etc but meat and animal products are decaying over time)
