Alot of detail in article.

"....About two months later, Kohberger reached out to her again to ask for a ride after he said his car broke down, and she agreed to help him, the messages showed. Weeks later, Casey Arntz came to learn that Kohberger’s errand was actually to buy heroin and needles, she said.

“He literally used me to get it,” she told the Statesman. “I was freaking out and not happy I had heroin in my car and didn’t even know.”

The correspondence shows Casey Arntz sent Kohberger a message that May scolding him for putting her in jeopardy had Kohberger been caught. He responded with three words.

“I’m in rehab,” Kohberger wrote. He offered an apology more than three weeks later, which she rebuffed.

'The program helped students eventually become a police officer, firefighter or EMT, said Donna Yozwiak, Kohberger’s guidance counselor through most of high school. His parents, who also worked for the school district, were active in attending meetings to help steer their son, she said.

“I recall no problems. He was a regular kid, and thankfully his parents were involved in his education,” Yozwiak told the Statesman in a phone interview, adding that she remembered Kohberger as a good student. “I don’t recall anything that was out of the ordinary.”

So absences for rehab and the supposed hospitalisation for eating disorder but ' ....no problems'
How does that work?

plus, same link again. High school principal: 'He only vaguely recalled Kohberger...'
Did the parents not tell the school or are the sources speaking to press incorrect o just legal reasons around privacy?

I sure hope the judge removes the Gag Order soon and some real info comes out, we have reached an all time low in topics with...who paid for BCK's tummy tuck and if a decade ago his parents may have filed for bankruptcy LOL
Agreed

What solution do you want me to offer you? The world is an imperfect place, and to err is human. That's why they conduct voir dire, to probe for what jurors think they know and where they got their info.

As is often said of our criminal justice system, it's the worst possible method... except for all the other methods. IME I think it works more often than not when victims and defendants are white. I'm not as confident about how defendants of color are treated, but important people are working to improve things in that regard as well.

In my personal experience (two trials black-on-black crime, one trial Latino-on-Latino) the juries worked quite well and there was no obvious distinction during deliberations between "racial minority" jurors (of which there were 4-6 on each panel) and white jurors.
I wasn't asking you to offer a solution, I was trying to convey that 'well informed' is subjective.

Steve Goncalves said no one in the family knows or recognizes the suspect, but in the hours since they've first learned his name they are starting to see connections between him and Kaylee Goncalves that they aren't ready to discuss yet.
and yet, if Banfield's sources are to be believed, it was MM he was most fixated on

you're hoping for a judge to sanction somebody releasing real info?

At first glance this does seem super creepy, and possibly evidence of obsession.

However if Poppa and BK are in fact the same person, but he made this the cover page just before his arrest, then they were already murdered.

I would find it much more telling if he had posted these photos PRIOR to their deaths. That IMO would be more evidentiary of an ongoing obsession.

I think I’ve seen many examples of people who displayed such pictures AFTER the murders as a kind of tribute page to the victims.

On the other hand, I don’t see any “tribute” to Ethan, so it could perhaps be incriminating as displaying a fascination with one or more of the girls.

No, there's no proof but I think she's debunked a lot of the others. If it is him, or if it wasn't, this guy was definitely enjoying himself.

Apparently he was doing good in school. If there are absences for medical reasons, the details of that are not the school's business as long as no suspicion of neglect or abuse.

If it were for a specific amount of time, that would also impact school attendance long-term, it would have gotten their attention. In a public school, a day missed is money missed. I think he probably went during the summer break and started school late, or left school early. If he was as hard-core H addict as they said he was he would need it to function at school, just going through the withdrawals would be pretty bad, it would be almost impossible to function normally in a classroom. Then again, Methadone stops almost all withdrawal symptoms.

So, on we go to a decision! This should be very interesting!

BBM Great. BK's stupidity may be his best defense. Defense: He is so smart that if he had gone there to kill he would never had made mistakes learned in Evidence 101......, (produces grades and class descriptions). Presents some other reason for being in neighborhood.

I'm exhausted. Can someone just tell me slowly and using little words what this says? :)

Didn't this rumor circulate quite awhile ago? I think at the time many posters questioned the information as to whether or not it was BK on social media, IIRC. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
If AB's source was from LE, LE could have gone through BK's SM plus the victims' accounts back when they first identified BK as the possible perp in late Nov 2022. At that time there should be no fake accounts since the public did not yet have his name. IMO

Hi all, I hate to pull this but can someone please bring me up-to-date on the past week? Been dealing with a lot of struggle, including ruthless work deadlines, or else I would have the time to go back over recent threads.

TIA and totally understand if nobody feels like going to the trouble of summarizing.

I read in several MSM articles that BK withdrew from college to attend rehab. Here's one source: Bryan Kohberger’s former friends tell how he became addicted to heroin because he wanted ‘validation’

One of the things about heroin is that once addicted, you have to take a certain amount regularly to feel "normal" and avoid withdrawal. This may not necessarily mean that you're really that high. I suspect BK may have not run out of "stamina" until after he was out of high school.

A 63 document filing Response to Request for Discovery State's Response to Defendant's First Supplemental Request for Discovery. (Way too much for my exploded brain to really say what that’s about.)

New document added to gag order, looks to me like a response is due 3/4.

Lots of discussion here about change of venue and how knowledge of the case factors into choosing a jury.

Ashleigh Banfield /People say an investigative source revealed BK had photos of one of the students on his phone. We are thinking Maddie, due to SG’s previous comments that he thought Maddie might have been the target.

A couple of news articles discussing BK as a kid, maybe just a normal kid. One article discussed his heroin use, and massive weight loss in high school. And a tummy tuck. But we aren’t going to talk about that anymore, k? ;)

We did talk about Murphy again. He’s good with us. :D

That’s all I can think of.

Way to go, @steeltowngirl! You get the

award! I couldn't get enough donations for those to be actual diamonds but only a jeweler can tell the difference between the real deal and CZ's. But... it's all about the thought, right? ;)

Snipped for the whole brevity thing ...

THANK YOU! I really appreciate the updates. Waiting until I've had some rest to tackle that document and the new gag order doc. I hope BK is all settled in at the jail and enjoying it because that jail is Disney World compared to where he is going if he gets life.
