That's true but it really does feel like the media will find another way to discredit her and I'm not sure why. She's available, qualified and BK had a legal right to representation.
Exactly. And that's the bottom line!
I'm sure we all feel for X's mom, and find her feelings sympathetic. But she is not a formal party to BK's trial.
As for the prosecution, X's "feelings" aren't their problem, but if BK were denied his lawyer of choice (under the constraints of PD eligibility and assignment), that MIGHT become an issue in a later appeal. Unless AT has some superpower that hasn't been publicized, I doubt the DA is going to challenge her appointment.
