Son's new (to them) home is on S. Park Rim Circle. I keep thinking about the fire in the Berkeley Hills a few years ago that took about 100 or more homes.

The Oakland Hills Fire from wiki---it was a firestorm--unbelievable to have seen it on the news.

The fire ultimately killed 25 people and injured 150 others. The 1,520 acres destroyed included 2,449 single-family dwellings and 437 apartment and condominium units. The economic loss has been estimated at $1.5 billion

PS--we spend $1.5 billion in Iraq every week.

I wasn't sure just how close you were to this, but I've been listening to it on Fox and it sure looks terrible. I feel so sorry for any of our posters, or any others, who are in this area. Lord! I will be praying that everyone is safe and that no more homes burn. It's not looking too good right about now, that's for sure.

Hi Pepper, the live new pictures on FOX are showing the incredible flames that are raging. They are worried about Ahaheim Hills because there are 200 homes there. The worry is how close these flames are getting to the homes.

In Orange Park Acres there are a lot of larger houses and many have horses and animals , and they are seeing a lot of these evacuating people walking down the roads with their horses. On a major thoroughfare there is non-moving traffic and everyone is standing on the hoods of their cars!

This isn't a good time of the day either--around here the winds come up in the afternoon; if it's the same there, this fire could grow by leaps and bounds, in a very big hurry, as it begins preheating everything in front of it.

Orange Park Acres is where my gf , our sales agent lives. Her house has been emptied by her sons.
She is surprisingly calm. Her sons have her valuables and she is prepared for it to burn.
2nd fire breaking in Corona!

Scandi, honey, you could encourage the reporters to begin including a link to a real-time map which could show us the outline of the fire. That sounds like a good/great idea.

Hoping we don't have an arsonist on the loose, or a terrorist--perish the thought.

Hi Jovin! Hi Scandi!

Thanks for your concern. My stepson also has a house in Santiago Cyn. He lives in PA but is at the house he rents out doing repairs. Hubby just left him a few hrs. ago. I sure hope that the fire stays out of that canyon, cuz it's narrow and hard to get in and out of. Santiago Cyn is south of the fire, but is still a concern.

There are now reports of new fires in Corona County. Just in.

Pepper, where is your son and DIL today? Are they up by their new house? I'll be thinking of them, hoping they are safe. Scandi

I was exactly in this location yesterday with my son. We drove out ther to shop competition for our Riverside project.

I tried to get a good vantage point for pictures,on my way home just now. but I couldn;t get anything worthwhile.

Pepper, I would guess a new development would have good fire breaks around the tract.

There is no Corona County..Corona is a town in Riverside County.

Corona, where the second fire is now, is 25 miles away from the first fire. The American Red Cross now has two shelters in Santa Ana - is that a city?

Pepper, could you please pull up a map of that area, for those of us who don't quite know where it is. Thanks

LOL These newscasters on FOX are trying their best to keep up, but there is just so much to tell I guess. So there is Orange county and to the east Riverside county.

I'll never forget Orange County because of precious little Samantha Runion and the great Sheriff Corona!

Now up to 1,000 acres!. They are now shifting equipment from the north down to the fire area. There is a great partnership between the counties involved. They said CDS, whish is the organizing agency for them all working together I guess.
