In Corona the fire has now doubled since they mentioned it not long ago. Corona is way to the east in Orange County, right close to Riverside County. Two structures have now been destroyed. The fire is explosive as the brush burns hot and fast.

i can't tell if there are 2 fires now in CDorona, or if the Corona fire is the second fire. Things are happening so quickly because it is a wind driven fire and the flames jump and explode into new areas to burn.

It is now a firestorm with mandatory evacuation for the Anaheim Hills homes {200}.

How do these people breathe? I wouldn't be able to because I have bronchitis from years of smoking! How awful

okay I just talk to my friend. her horse has been trailered out, but most of her valuables are still there and she is starting to panic. She is trying to get from yucaipa, where the tract is, to irvine, where there is a relative, and I don't know how she is going to get there.
She thinks she is going to get back to hjer house in OC Acres to empty it out, but the evacs are mandatory there. I told her she'll never get in.
He children live in Orange and they have now evacuated too. I am trying to talk her into driving to La Qunita where her other son is.

I can tell you frm my fire experience that breathing is difficult.
I did tracts in Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda 2 years ago, I wonder if they will burn?

I have to tell you all, this area of the fire is very hilly, lots of brush and could burn and burn for a long time.

ETA: I don;t recall some of this burning for a long time, so that can be a bad thing.

Hubby and I just got back from Palm Springs and we took the 91 freeway to the 241 Toll Road, and they had it closed off due to the fire. We saw the fire and it was UGLY... Some of the fire trucks were stuck in traffice trying to get through.

That's one of the problems with homes built in steep terrain--when a fire comes they are essentially indefensible--fires can race up the sides of canyons at 100MPH, and everything has already been preheated before it gets there, so homes literally explode in flames. Not a very pleasant sight. That's why the Oakland Hills fire was so devastating. all in steep hills

I'm so glad she got the horse out. My heart breaks for the animals in situations like this. On another board someone posted that the news showed a bunny backed up against a house trying to get away from the fire. There didn't appear to be any safe direction for him to go. :(

If you recall the homes that slid in Anaheim Hills several years ago, that is the same site I rebuilt on. We had to take the site all the way down to bedrock and layer geo-grid up in layers to make the site stable. That site won;t budge, but it will sure burn. It is very hilly there.

It loks right now as though she will lose her house. She is definitely staring to panic...thinking about all her pictures and what not. She's glad the horse was trailered out earlier.

what do you hear from your son Pepper?

Just talked to both my sons. The one working on his rental in Santiago Cyn left the area. The other one with the new purchase is watching the news in his Costa Mesa apt. and is grateful he hasn't moved in yet.

Are firefighters making any progress?

I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to lose everything you have managed to gather during a lifetime. That would be very diffcult to deal with.

They are doing a magnificant job of keeping the homes safe. Only one that I know of has burned to the ground. However, the fire is now well over 1,000 acres. Don't know about the Corona fire. This is just the beginning. There will unfortunately be more fires because there has been no rain, and the rainy season is probably over until next winter.

My son said he was driving up Serrano Ave. the other day, and as he was looking to the east of the street, he was wondering how long it had been since there was a fire there. Too long, it would seem, or not long enough, depending on your perspective.

her house is in the thick of it. They are doing a good job, but OP acres is surrounded by huge eucalyptus that burn like crazy.

Bean, they said one of the areas where it is burning has not burned for a long time. In the Corona fire they say there is 1000 acres that are in jeopardy of burning in this fire. I guess the Corona fire is in Matthew Hills.

The Lake Matthews area doesn't have the development that the Orange County area has. In that fire the wind is blowing the flames towards all the new homes that have been built. I havew to see where your Realtor was Bean. Is that where you are building now?

They say the fires are very erratic. It is amazingt only 2 structures have burned at this point.

Are you safe at your home PaperDoll?

Wow, that is quite a ways away. Did he see flames or just smoke?

I lived right off Alica Pkwy. when the Laguna Beach fire happened about 1993 or so. It was scary, and the putrid smell of smoke and the ash was awful.
