PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Mark your checks - Donation for Haitian Earthquake.
Because if you don't they may see it fit to use in other ways.
The red cross does that for sure, Unless you write on the check exactly what you want to donate it for.

Thank you so much for this information. I have refused to donate to the Red Cross because of their past practices. Now perhaps I will mark the usage for a donation. I plan to donate to the Doctors without Borders.

Smart Blonde did you get an answer to your post concerning the prisoners? I'm thinking many may not be with us any longer as the building collapsed. I hope so anyway.

I didn't know this. I donated to the Red Cross online and didn't specify where I wanted my money to go. :( This makes me really mad!!

I'm so glad some celebrities are stepping up to help the people of Haiti. I only hope more celebs will follow their lead. They have so much to spare. Maybe instead of buying that Oscar de la Renta dress to go with their Christian Louboutin shoes this week, they'll put that money to better use and help out a country in need.

Ebay is also helping raise money for disaster relief in Haiti. I was pleasantly surprised to see a field to donate during checkout after winning an auction last night.

I was involved with red cross for 9/11 for many months and after I realized that they designate monies wherever they see fit. SAYING: "This was a donation to the Red Cross, it is not written that it is for 9/11".

I begun to tell people to PLEASE write on the check what they are donating for. I realized early on that
if it is not written they can designate it to Palestinians. (just saying - and maybe they did :( )

PS: I got a medal from them but I sent it back to them, I did not want a medal, or an honorary certificate.
But I am happy I did what I could during those hard times.
I will never donate through them, or work with them again. I did send through the white house, and want to check out Doctors Without Boarders. I do not know very much about them.

This made me sick too: A very rich woman went to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought about 20 good blankets for those who were left homeless. The director opened one and said to me, these are too good for homeless people, here take these 2 for you. I knew if I don't take, someone else will so I took 2 but I gave them to my cleaning girl she had 2 kids and she was very poor. by the next morning there were no blankets they were given out to whomever she felt like giving them to. That rich women would have done better if she took those blankets to the street or shelters by herself, she arrived with her driver, who could have driven all that elsewhere. :(
On one of my missions I had to go to shelters to see that the people who had to evacuate, had food, and whatever they needed. I have to tell you my heart cried and I wished I could have brought all those blankets to them.

This is local for me. A Virginia Beach 8th grader went to Haiti with his uncle for business and scuba diving. The young man's father hasn't heard from him since the earthquake.

I hope they are alive, and just out of phone reach. I pray they are OK...
He called his father when he arrived just as the quake hit. I imagine they were already in the hotel?
This article does not say what hotel they were in. :(

WTF :waitasec:

His spokesperson said it was taken out of context. Something about Robertson giving a little history lesson on Haiti. I quit listening to the man a long time ago. I think he suffers from Alzheimer's or some other mental deficiency (just my opinion).

IMO Alzheimer's does not make you mean spirited, or stupid. He has always been a hater IMHO.
All he needs is someone or somewhere to focus his hate, and he is ON, spreading venom, sort of like snakes do.
His spokesman had to cover up for him, or else maybe someone would come to cut his tongue out.

He will someday meet his maker, just like the rest of us. I find peace in that..
How dare he say these things about the many children who are buried under the rubble..:furious:

HOW? the man has no heart at all. :banghead:
I totally agree with you, those poor people and children :(

I should have known this was coming.....

Pat Robertson says "Haiti Cursed by Pact with the Devil":
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/13/pat-robertson-haiti-curse_n_422099.html

... This kind of thinking makes me sick to my stomach.

I was going to post this earlier but decided not too. I also was going to post Rush Limbaugh's statement from his show urging his viewers to NOT give aid to Haiti but didn't because this thread has been so positive and I didn't want to bring politics into it. I didn't want to give these too idiots any more press either because that is what they want. Don't get me wrong smart blonde, I am not coming down on you at all and I totally understand why you posted it.

The sad and sickening thing is some people listen to this crap and they just blindly believe it.

I think you are smart, and I like this appropriate saying: LOL
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
IMHO both of them are major idiots. Roberts and Limbaugh whom I never ever watch.

And I am sure right after 9/11 when he blamed the attacks on Homosexuals and abortion rights that was taken out of context too. I have just never understood why anyone pays him any mind at all - he is obviously INSANE and not to mention downright hateful and stupid.

My favorite is when he said at the 1988 Republican Convention that women's rights result in women leaving their husbands, practicing witch-craft, killing their children, destroying capitalism and becoming lesbians.
I have a tee-shirt with that wonderful little ditty on it - in an ironic way, not cuz I agree mind you.

   Please say it is not so - he actually said that :waitasec:

As far as celebrities go...

Look at the difference between the responses of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Lance Armstrong compared to Pat Robertson.

Now, which responses feel the most 'Christian'?

Just sayin'.

They just showed a little 15-day-old baby on HLN being checked out by a doctor. She had a laceration on her head. Her mother died. So terribly sad. It really upsets me that people are talking about the victims like this. They did NOTHING to deserve this.

My question would have been worded a little stronger but you are sweet. :)

Now one of these responses is of the devil itself. :innocent:
JMO and that creep does not allow me to hold back at all.
These are human beings - and he is a FSOB.
